This plugin used to be great but since being taken over by WPMU and the PRO CLOUD version being released, it dies not find any broken links anymore.
I found an alternative plugin in the WordPress Directory, which worked great out of the box and discovered more than 200 broken links within a couple of hours.
What happened to Broken Link Checker?

Maybe some people need this, but did not manage to find internal links at all… To complicated and useless for us…

As you can read here, there have been problems with the Amazon links for over 4 years. Mostly 503 errors are generated and (incorrectly) recorded as a broken link.
When will you finally get this under control?

Yes, it detect broken links, but it does not send any email notification.
I run it locallly and have no problems with other plugins that sends email. It’s not useful if i have to check manually each site i have if there is some broken links.

This is my first review, but I felt compelled to write it because this plugin is truly disappointing. I tried to fix a broken link, only to be told that the redirect URL was invalid. Moments later, I realized it was because my URL contained numbers. Seriously… as if that’s unusual?
Next, I reached out to support, only to find out that I need to pay for it. Honestly, that’s embarrassing.
So, I decided to run it locally instead, but it doesn’t work either. All I got were 428 errors, an unknown error. What a waste of time. This plugin is just garbage.

I tried this out on two of my sites. On one of them, it came up with approx 30 broken links, a least a third of which were working just fine. On my other site, it came back with the reassuring result that there were no broken links … but just as a check, I deliberately broke one of my links and ran a re-check. The checker still said all was well.
It looks like the service needs a lot of work on it to make it work.

I do not know what is happening with the cloud version. Although I have it set to scan my site daily, when it does that, it won’t clear the old errors. I have marked several links over and over as not broken, but they reappear the next day.

Regularly marks links that do work as crossed out. Very unproffesional looking on the site!

So simple to use and streamlines the process of fixing broken links.

WPMUDEV offers the best support staff I have seen in 25 years of working with wordpress. Even newer members of the staff have often surprised me with in depth knowledge as well as a total commitment to resolve issues thoroughly and promptly! – Hands down the BEST.

My site has thousands of links. This plugin ensures the site doesn’t go stale. The tools for URL updating are clever and well-designed.

I moved my site to localhost and the result was some messy links and broken images. This plugin found them all! I used the free version and the older “Local” type. It worked very well, and I was able to select-all, edit, and replace the old domain-name with the new. Good job!

The feature (Fix redirects) for which I purchased the plugin does not work. Added to that the incompetent support which makes me waste a lot of time telling me nonsense! I added a star for detecting URLs that contain 301 redirects.

I worked about 4h on my webpage to fix broken links. Everything was confirmed to be fine in the Add-In but the links on the pages have not been changed in practice. Thanks to the support I found out that it does not work with pages edited in SiteOrigin builder

I tried everything to figure out why I kept getting weird internal reference errors & other stuff. Broken link checker showed me why because it had links to a test site instead of the real site. Love it!

Just what I was looking for. A way to check for all broken links on my website, select them all and remove them at once. This plugin does it all. Thanks for this.

When using Broken Link Checker, I confirmed that the “data attribute” written on the text editor was deleted.

Using WPMU DEV and The Hub the so called Cloud version is counting “30381 links found” which is absurd! This thing is broken.
Switching to the Local version it reports 150 links on my site which is probably closer to the truth. The Local version did catch 3 broken links so thanks for that.

Broken Link Checker flagged a multitude of links as broken but when I checked them, they were all working fine. After doing an update, I ended up with a bunch of other WPMU DEV plugins that I didn’t want and that caused conflicts.

Currently working with the support guys, which I have to compliment as they are responding and they are sincerely investigating. However, we are now 2 weeks into this and the plugin executable is running somewhere that it cannot be found — and is sending broken link notices that are incorrect. The plugin is not functioning well with SSL. It cannot be turned off. I am hoping this will work out, but as of now the plugin is behaving like malware.

Very usefull for updating broken links all over the site and many other things. Please keep up the good work.

This plugin did exactly what I needed. I had a big problem with image links becoming broken on my site. With this plugin, I was able to see the list of broken image links and, without knowing this was a feature, I was able to fix the links! This was more than I could have asked for and it worked perfectly.

No longer easy and practical plug-in.. I’ve been using it since I created my site so almost 10 years and I can tell how much it became bad. It’s now so terribly slow to do easy simple stuffs such as editing broken links.
When a link is not broken, you have no way of removing it from the list of “broken” links, it just stays there even though you “ignore the link” or “Report as not broken” in the options, which is so annoying as you have to scroll your long list of broken links to sort them out, really not user friendly.
To sum up: it used to be a great plug-in when it was only local in your WP dashboard. Now it has become a cloud thing and became pretty s***.

I was really enjoying this one despite the false positives (I feel they’re somewhat unavoidable), but my only major issue is when fixing redirects.
It’s a write operation, but I really didn’t expect it to be THAT heavy, but it pretty much took my site down for a bit when trying to correct 600 redirects in increasingly small batches. My server isn’t the beefiest, it’s the 2CPU 4GB ram Linode VPS, but I didn’t figure I could crash it just fixing redirects.
I can’t really tell why it even happened, looking at my server logs Load never got too high and while RAM was high, I didn’t hit OOM nor was CPU maxed, capped around 50%. I feel if it had a pacing feature for link fixes like it does for checking links in the first place, that’d probably fix that.
Still, gotta have something to check links with, it does it’s job just be careful and make sure links are actually bad before fixing.

Very good in the past, now unbearable since this cloud integration. So much garbage
