Good plugin. But not very consistent with reality.
“Delay in seconds when a login attempt has failed (to slow down brute force attack)”
It is necessary to increase the time from 10 seconds to infinity. Now they can log in from one IP every few minutes.

Unfortunately too few updates, otherwise the plugin is good. Due to too few updates a star was removed.

This plugin uses .htaccess syntax that will not work on the current Apache version (2.4). Using this will break your website!

We got rid of brute force attack because of the specially option in your plugin: Delay in seconds when a login attempt has failed
thank you so much…

I have a WP site using a Divi theme with WP Fastest Cache premium and Cloudflare. After installing the plugin with no problems I received an email within 24 hours that it had stopped a brute force attack on my WP admin login.
Brute Force Login Protection has blocked IP 195.154.226.186 from access to ======= on 2016-04-10 07:54:40
Having had major security issues for a WP cart I programmed for a client I can’t stress enough the importance of security for WP sites. This plugin is a great add on and a must in my books – the cart I programmed was successfully accessed through 2 separate brute force attacks and anyone who doesn’t have brute force protection is compromising their site and those who use it. A must have !!!

Only works with Apache 2.2…

This plugin can accidentally block all traffic from your site trough a 403 error. This happened to us on two different websites / hosting environments. We found out about this through a message from the Google Webmaster Tools. After uninstalling the plugin and cleaning up the .htaccess file the problem was solved.

I highly recommend this plugin. It takes 30 seconds to setup and it’ll prevent anyone from brute-forcing their way into your WP installation. It can automatically blacklist IPs after a specified number of attempts (I set it to 10) and can also add a delay between login attempts (I set it to 5 seconds). It keeps track of which IPs have been blacklisted and I’m constantly seeing new IPs added to the list, which means it’s doing its job!

Used a VPN connection to test the plugin. It blocked the IP after 3 unsuccessful logins. IP showed in .htaccess and file was not corrupted as some people have said. Unblocked it and .htaccess updated correctly.

I’m giving it 5 stars because my client’s WP site seems to be a target for jerks trying to get in to add advertising keywords, and this stopped it. I got an email yesterday that it had blocked a particular IP and now I’m installing it everywhere!

I should have used this plugin a long time ago. Simple, makes sense, and so far my preliminary tests proove good. Thank you

The plugin worked really great yesterday! It got me through a brute force attack as expected. When the attack started I only had about 40 IPs on my blacklist. Now there are more than 200 IPs blocked.
Really easy to configure.
Thank you and keep up the good work.

I’ve installed this plugin on several sites because I believe the method of blocking access via .htaccess is a good idea. Unfortunately it seems to corrupt the .htaccess file on occasion which shuts down the entire site. Not sure what’s causing it or how to replicate but I’m going to have to disable the plugin until I either figure it out or the author updates the code.
Keep up the good work! I look forward to giving this plugin another try in the near future.

Tested from other IP’s and checked that works as expected. (Other plugins like ‘Limit Login Attemps’ didn’t work properly for me).
Thanks Jan-Paul!!
