GREAT plugin! I found this after much researching. This answers a question which I can find many people have asked, but no one had the ideal solution.

This is a fantastic plugin! Exactly what WordPress should have out of the box. Thank you for the time and development expertise you’ve committed to this plugin!

Essential in pushing out updates to critical content without having to play hopscotch with permalink names.

This is a wonderful plugin for managing content edits after initial publishing. You basically clone the content (make a version), make your edits to the clone, and once it’s okay, you “publish” the cloned edit which simply replaces the previous published post. It does this so your content edits don’t happen “live”. It supports other built-in WordPress functionality (revisions) and really feels almost like a core part of WordPress. Recommended.
I only ran into one issue: it doesn’t play nice with CodePress’ Admin Columns (https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/codepress-admin-columns/) as it prevents the CodePress plugin from being able to grab custom fields from your posts to display in the back-end admin screens. Once I disabled Versions the Admin Columns plugin worked correctly.

I’ve downloaded and tested several plugins that attempt to achieve versioning, but this is the only that actually does it – here’s why: My users need to edit “published” items and every plugin only allows the WP review layer to work on “New” posts/pages. Once you hit publish, guess what, no one besides a publish rights user can touch that post again, if you use “User Role Editor” or “Members” (both excellent plugins) you’ll see that if you assign a user to be able to edit published items, they also get the blue “Update” button, so their changes bypass the review layer. This solves that. Support has been good so far, and they’re currently enhancing the documentation to include how-to’s on supporting your custom meta boxes…so all all around awesome job…
