I like how it just works and adds nice stuff.
A bit too simple for my taste though.
But if you only want the minimum functionality, then this plugin is a perfect no-bloat solution.
I couldn’t bring myself to delete it though….
I’m so keeping BAP as a reliable plan B.

How can I limit the image upload size to 1mb only for the activity post..

Installed this, However the use of inline styling makes it nearly impossible to customise or fit with my theme’s look and feel.
For this reason it’s pretty useless.

thank for this.

I’d like to use this plugin within Buddypress. But the function that should show a facebook-like teaser of a webpage link to be shared only works for users who have admin rights. Otherwise the preview can be seen, but after clicking on “add link” nothing happens. To normal users this appears like a real bug.
I can’t tell this to WP MU DEV because before being able to get in contact I’d have to enter my credit card number into their website which I definitely don’t want.
I’m also missing a better coordination with the oembed function of Buddypress. Normal users will not understand why some (whitelisted) websites show a teaser after merely entering the URL into the message field while other websites need to be shared by the link sharing function of BuddyPress Activity Plus. It would be much better usability if there was some kind of “silent mode”: If the message entered into the message field contains a link that is not on the whitelist of oembed BuddyPress Activity Plus could create a teaser out of this link (by reading the OG-Tags, similar to Facebook). This would be much easier to understand for normal users of a Buddypress site.

Does not communicate correctly, the send button disappears.

Very nice addon for buddypress. Definitely polish up the bp.

Works great. But, I did have to change the moderation settings to make it work for regular members. Also, if the plugin author sees this I have one suggestion.
Add code so that if someone is on a mobile device the link preview is responsive. Or, if mobile, there’s no preview. Just post.

I like many of WPMUDev’s plugins (though definitely not all) but this one just didn’t quite do it for me. I like the idea of the plugin, however, I just couldn’t get it to work properly on two different themes. It seems pretty buggy to me, though maybe it is just my themes or the combination of plugins I use. Not sure though because I rarely have any issues installing other plugins on these themes. Either way, it didn’t work for me and I tried to get it working by disabling plugins, trying the different themes, etc. Maybe you will have better luck with your theme/plugin combination than I did.
If a plugin doesn’t work for me pretty much right away look for alternatives. I ended up using rtMedia, albeit it costs money, however, it does image stuff well and they have a ton of addons (though can add up quick). For example, to get the functionality of URL preview in activity stream had to buy their addon but it works great. I also use BuddyBoss’s Wall plugin for Facebook like functionality (that parts works fantastic!) and it also allows url preview/image in activity stream. For images, they have a separate plugin for images that you will need in addition to the wall plugin. Only thing about Buddyboss Wall plugin url/image preivew feature is it stores images on your local harddrive and they don’t auto delete if a user deletes activity from the feed (UPDATE: Now they do!). Sucks cause the typical WordPress install has 5 to 9 images or more. Had to disable it, hence I ended up using rtMedia’s addon for URL preview in activity stream (Not anymore since BuddyBoss Wall fixed the issue) which doesn’t store images locally but instead uses the images from the linked website.
As far as this plugin, I would recommend you look elsewhere, I think there are better alternatives like rtmedia.

I just installed this plugin with wordpress 4.4 and latest buddy press, they are working together very well. I do not have problem at all. I am using Divi Theme from Elegant Theme.
Thank you for creating very helpful plugin.

I tried to use this plugin several times, with different themes and different WordPress versions. The first time i tried it was several years ago and now i find the exact same ugly code i saw the first time i tried it.
br tags between images. Really? br tags? The plugin breaks the What’s new form UX. Broken code everywhere. The code just don’t make sense, i don’t know how this even work. You need a degree just to understand it, and another one to make changes without breaking everything else.
I’m wasting more time fixing this plugin than i needed to build the rest of my website. I even tried to share my code, but i’m not good enough to make code that it’s worth sharing.
I’m sorry if i’m being rude, but i hate laziness, specially when it hurts the community. Finding the exact same code i saw several years ago just made me mad. What would think someone who is trying Buddypress for the first time and he installs this plugin? What would he think when he tries it a few years later and it’s the exact same ugly code? I can tell you, because i’m that user. I’m starting to think this is not an isolated problem, iirc i had similar problems with other WPMU DEV plugins.
Are you trying to lure users to your paid support? Because if not, then i don’t understand it.
The worst thing is that the only alternative to this plugin is the paid version of rtMedia. I always end coming back to rtMedia, but i’m too poor to pay for plugins or storage (almost 30% unemployment in my country, it’s not an overstatement). I NEED this plugin.
Please, update the plugin, we are in 2015, it’s not 2010 anymore. PLEASE.

Plugin recomendado para BuddyPress, muchas gracias.

Highest recommendation is to have it load it’s CSS in the head and JS in the footer if at all possible, otherwise works great. And yes I stay updated on all plugins and the WordPress core itself, currently using 4.2.2 and works without a problem.

its not working in my social website and plzz do make to use that.

Has been working fantastically so far. Needs to be updated for BP 2.2.0

This saved me a ton of time in one department and needlessly cost me time in another.
Wrapping forms with ugly css classes using JS? Enqueuing plugin css after child theme css? Bad!

This is awesome plugin.
All it needs left is attachments on the comments as well.
Also a clear button to clear out unused images left by activity plus.
I would totally buy/donate to this plugin when that happens.
It’s the last thing I need for my website.
Thanks.

Full of issues that made it more frustrating than useful. Common with WPMU Dev is half baked plugins that fall down in fully functioning stable plugin. Thickbox popup is unstable, It will 90 degree spin the photo or squash it. Jams the website if you accidentally try to upload a video file in photo file upload. Many other issues I cant remember now. Went to buddyboss media, although still bugged up, a nicer slideshow, and doesn’t cause so many issues.

hello love the plugin works great on its own but i also have the buddy press activity privacy plugin installed which when both active it creates a little white line above the privacy options drop down box not sure if you have had this brought up before and probably a small fix for you guys if you could help thank you

Good job, nice and simple.

This would be a great plugin if it did one thing – add links to the media uploaded to the users profile. As it stands, anything uploaded is added to the activity stream but will be lost after on busier sites.

Works for most websites now and supports mobile too. Great work.
