if you are searching for a really extensive membership plugin this is the one. the pro version takes it to the max with the custom post type and specific url restrictions per user role.
so not only great for Buddypress, great for any site.
this all comes with fast, responsive and human support.

I’m working on a new website/solution here, it’s almost done. When trying to use this plugin, it started to ask for a password on the homepage of my website. Even if I’m using my admin account, it was in a loop and the site just stopped working.
So, the first thing I did was to disable the plugin. The problem still remains. Then I deleted the plugin. The problem still remains.
I didn’t install ANY other plugin in my working site at the same time, nothing else was new. Just this one.
I had a backup from the day before – all I was going to lose was the work I had that morning (pages adjustments, translations, things like that). Before reinstalling the backup, I tried to search for the plugin name and the developer name inside the database and inside the files, and I did the same with function names I’d found reading the plugin code.
Even without the plugin anymore (disabled and removed), it was my surprise that I could find entries inside my database, like the function name and the developer name. As I told you, I had a backup, so I removed the lines to see what was going to happen and the site got live again. I mean, I found database remains of the plugin even after uninstalling the plugin and only after deleting it my website got back.
I comprehend that the plugin maybe work in old WP versions but what I’m telling you here is that my system and everything is running and updated, and everything was working like a charm, and after this plugin I went in a big trouble. I work with WP for almost 14 years and it was the first time ever I had a problem like that.
So at this time, without screenshots or live demo with the most up-to-date WP version running, I’m not going to give it a try again.

This plugin helped me a lot because my buddypress is inside a regular website with subscribers. Hard to make the difference between subribers and buddypress users. Now, it’s OK ! Ahd more, I can make a little extranet giving acces to some not buddypress pages to buddypress users.
Excellent work. Hope works fine now… ??

I have gone through this plugin and even bought the pro plugin too. I have not found any issues with it. I dont know if the people that are complaining are simply frustrated with some lacking of coding skills on their part?
I have worked with WordPress for over 10 years and handled close to a 1000 different plugins. Yes sometimes you get crap coding. Sometimes you get a wonderful plugin. This plugin is also great for a fine tooth restrictions.. being able to narrow it down to precise link if need be.
Too many people come to the wordpress directory looking for free… spending hours looking for something free. When in the end alot of the Free plugins lack updating and many get left behind.
You get what you pay for and at least by paying for a plugin you a supporting future development and updates.
Alot of you out there who are building sites, dreaming of making it big. Need to quit being so cheap! because in the end, you get what you pay for. This will only delay your site development and it is something customers will sniff out as a weak site.
I rarely leave reviews on plugins, but I have gotten tired of reading complaints and bashing of those who create. So I am taking my rant out in this review.
I do not know the developer of this plugin, but i do recognize a pattern of frustrated idiots who cant take a moment to write a developer. They would rather talk trash and leave bad reviews.

Hello.
This is a very simple plugin that does what it says very easily.
I’m using free version for a month and it runs perfect.
Thank you developers

Don’t use this plugin. I installed it and everyone got logged out. It then wouldn’t allow us back in and caused further problems even when it had been removed.
Frustrating.

It’s possible that this plugin used to work a year ago, but it doesn’t work with the current version of WordPress/BuddyPress.
It has absolutely no effect whatsoever.

So first off it still allows the front page. If you want to restrict the front page you need to comment out line 152 (as of version 1.1.0) ==> if (is_front_page()) return;
That basically say if its the front page don’t run members only.
Why would you want this? I wanted the Activity feed to be my front page but only for login in users.
Secondly, needed to also BP Login Redirect to redirect to front page after login.
Also, I set the “registration page” to the login page instead of registration since people are only going to register once, but login many times. Seem silly to redirect an unauthorized user to register, just because they logged out. This wording may confuse the noobs.
My recommendation for the developer is to add a checkbox to allow the front page. Rename the registration page input to redirect unauthorized traffic. Add a redirect after login input box and logic.

Hi,
First off Thank You for making a free WordPress plugin. I know it can be a thankless thing to do. So I Thank You.
I have installed the plugin on this site https://sandiegoleaders.org/
I have the settings like this https://sandiegoleaders.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/Not_Working.png
and when I try to go to my profile when not logged in and any other BuddyPress page it still displays the pages.
i.e. https://sandiegoleaders.org/members/admin/profile/

We implemented this plug-in for our community of over 500,000 users and 3,300 registered members on Scaffies.NL – we use the latest versions of both WordPress and BuddyPress.
The comment below about it being a “spam plug-in” is completely bogus – it only scared us, and made us almost not try it at first.
Fact is, the plug-in works great, and does exactly what we wanted: show the home page and a few, select pages (registration, login, etc), and require registration & login for everythign else.
It was very easy to set up (we tried 2 others before, too cumbersome and did not do what we had in mind) and works like a charm from the start. You can see it in action on Scaffies.
Thanks to the author for an awesome piece of plug-in for the WordPress / BuddyPress community!

Effective and simple pluging. Does what it says.
Just what I needed to control access to buddypress.

I just get a blank white page, nothing else. Using BuddyPress 2.2. May be a theme or plugin conflict.

This plugin does exactly what it claims.
I wish I could choose to add further pages that are visible by non-members, and I look forward to that enhancement.

I have modified the plugin so that non registered members may have access to 5 additional pages other than the registration page. Suggestion to the authors to include such a feature in the next version.

I made sure that BuddyPress was set up correctly with no errors and then installed this plug-in and set it to redirect to the “register” URL.
Thank you for writing it.

Got nothing but fatal errors.

Could be something with my theme but I don’t think so. I’m using WPMU-Dev ‘Scholar’ theme built specifically for Buddypress. Might have been a conflict but I didn’t bother doing the de-activation routine. It also might be because I didn’t have the ‘anyone can register’ checked in settings either. But I don’t want that box checked. I only add members myself as my site is for students.
I tried another page URL and when I click the ‘submit’ button, the page goes white. Not the screen of death white, but the setting page only.
