Plugin works great for us, thanks!
Is is possible to change the word “mute” to “unfollow” everywhere it appears on our site? I’ve done some digging and can’t find anyone talking about it.
Thanks for your support.
]]>Henry- I have another feature request that would be a HUGE benefit to my site: The ability to mute everything from a muted members, all top level posts as well as replies & comments.
Due to the nature of my forum, with a lot of diverging opinions, things can get heated. I’ve had multiple requests from members to modify the Mute function to hide all replies, comments, etc.. from those muted.
Some of my forum members that are muted by others have learned to either comment or reply to someone that has Muted them (and they are aware of it) or even go so far as to post a top level comment & tag the person that is muting them (@username) to make sure they will see their post so they can drag them into an argument.
Do you think it would be feasible for you to either extend to the Mute function to comments & replies or possible make that an optional setting for BuddyPress users, leaving the default as is? (or maybe an admin option in the plugin settings).
]]>1.0.4
Added language pack support.
Hi, what does this mean exactly ?
I found no .pot file in the plugin and I had to edit core files. The translation doesn’t work correctly though. I use french language and every time I click to change status (mute/unmute), the new status is in english and I have to refresh the page in order to have it in french.
The plugin is very useful, but I am sceptic with this behavior. Is it serious, doctor? ??
]]>Henry- Once again, excellent plugin! I’d like to add another feature request: The ability to mute specific groups. Example: I run a stock trading & investing website. Most of my users are from the US but I have many others from around the world. I’m am going to add a Group for Canadian markets & eventually some others. As citizens of each country typically trade different stocks & post market analysis on their own markets, I’d like to have the ability for U.S. investors & traders to mute the non-US groups (or the other way around) as to filter them out of the Activity Stream.
On a related note, I had originally given you a 4-star review holding back 1-star since muted members’ activity was still showing under groups. You changed that after I made the request & I would like to change my review to 5-stars but don’t see the option. Is that possible & if not, can you delete my review so I can enter a new 5-star review?
]]>Clicking the Mute button does does toggle the Mute button to Unmute but the confirmation notification does not appear & Mute function is not executed (they are not muted).
However, I can Mute a user by right-clicking on the Mute button & then select “Open Link in New Tab”, which does execute the mute command. Likewise, that is the only way to successfully unmute the user.
As that go-around will successfully execute the mute function, do you think that would eliminate a plugin conflict as the most likely culprit? Any other ideas or troubleshooting suggestions? Thanks.
BTW-This issue was occurring before taking the latest update that you just released.

]]>Hi Henry,
With BP 2.3.5 and your plugin v1.0.3 I’m using a premium theme called Salutation what includes templates for BP. If I mute a community member I get “1” (counter value) in #user-mute tab of my BP Profile (incl sub-tabs with “All” and “Friends”) but that member doesn’t appear under /members/<my-username>/mute/ – and yes, it’s working if I switch to a standard WP theme. Anyway, what can we do to make it “compatible”?
Thanks, Hans
Hi Henry,
Thanks for that cool add-on to BuddyPress.
At least in my installation based on BP 2.3.5 mute isn’t working for activity replies – other words: mute is working for “first level” activities but activity replies of the muted member appear…
I’m not sure if this has anything to do with the changes that you rolled out yesterday with 1.0.3 but I just noticed an issue with my BP forum & wanted to throw it out here in case you or anyone else is experiencing it.
I just happened to install the latest update to BuddyPress (2.4.0) at the same time I installed the 1.0.3 update yesterday so not sure if that could be the cause.
The issue is that the dropdown menu to assign a new forum post to a specific group (which lies just below the text input field) is now missing. I wanted to bring that up just in case it has to do with the 1.0.3 changes, which extended the Mute function to groups.
If nobody else is experiencing this issue, is there a way for me to download 1.0.2 in order to delete 1.0.3 & try running the previous version to see if that fixes the issue?
]]>Great idea for a plugin. I am currently using the following plugin for blocking but it’s action is too strong and blocks another user completely (including messaging) https://www.philopress.com/products/buddyblock/
So, I like the idea of your plugin and tried it out but the fact that it is limited to the public activity stream I find restrictive. The Public Stream is not as big a feature on my network beacuse I have thousands of members and they don’t frequent the Public Activity stream nearly as much as their own personalized stream where they can see the content posted by their friends as well as within the groups they belong to. Now, if a person they are blocking is posting in one of these groups then these posts will still show up. Is there any way to change that and lock down the user’s status updates (not comments) from showing up on any other streams too?
]]>The mute function was working fine on my local site but I’m now testing it on my live site before rolling out & it does not seem to be working. The button appears but several of the dummy user accounts that I muted continued to show new post in the site-wide activity stream. Oddly enough, I could mute my admin user (when logged in as one of the dummy user accounts).
I removed any friendships or following associated with any users that I tried to mute but that did not fix the issue. I was ready to start open registration today but just noticed the issue & would prefer to correct it before opening the forum to registered users. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
BTW- The Mute button does toggle when clicked in all instances (from mute to unmute).
]]>Wanted to post this suggestion separately from my previous suggestion as to keep each thread on a single topic.
Would it be possible to extend the mute functionality to Groups as well? When I mute a user, I can still view their posts under any BuddyPress groups that we both belong to.
Again, great plugin. Thank you for sharing. Will give 4-star rating now, 5-star if those two features can be implemented.
]]>I would love to add a “Mute” button on the site-wide activity page next to the “Comment” and “Favorite” buttons. Not only would it make the process more streamlined but many users might not be aware of this great feature without seeing it there. (Most users wouldn’t visit the profile of someone they want to ignore).
Would you consider adding this to the next update or if there is some code that I could insert somewhere to do this, that would also be greatly appreciated.
]]>I can mute and it works very well.
BUT to unmute someone, they are not showing on the list.
Any suggestions?
THANKS!
JJ

Other similar buttons like “Block” “Follow” etc are working in the same scenario without any problem.
I have posted this problem here also https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/bp-cover-deactivates-mute-toggle?replies=1#post-6811281
