Hi – I tried searching the KnowledgeBase but didn’t find a post that matched my scenario. To begin, I have a file in my custom theme directory that receives (and parses) POST requests whenever a button is clicked from the UI. PRIOR to installing the BPS Security Plugin, a single line in my htaccess made this functionality possible:

I have just installed the BPS Security which I have used before, for a new site.
And just found that no matter what I have set in the captcha, I can type anything in the jtc field to bypass in the login form. Am I missing something?

Dear Support-Team,

I use BPS on several dozen websites as my preferred security plugin.

Yesterday I got a virus alert from All-Inkl ( Webhosting Company ) for more than a dozen of my clients. Reason was that an virus upload trial was logged in the error log of bullet proof security. All-Inkl told me that their Scanner does not make a difference whether the file a virus code is found is a txt or php-file.

Is there any possibility to “cover” such logs in a way that the code is not fully shown in the error log in such a way that virus scanner will not identifiy the error log as a potential risk?

Of course I am happy that BPS does such a good job in preventing virus uploads, but it was some unneccessary workload to calm down dozens of my clients following this false alert.

I just installed the plugin … and half of the options I don’t understand. But, next to the title of each section is a question mark in a circle. I assumed this would explain that section ….

However, when you click the questions mark, the popup is basically an ad for the pro version, and then a “GENERAL” help notice. That’s for ALL of the sections (the SAME help popup). I’m going to uninstall the plugin because I don’t know what half the plugin does and there’s no simple explanation.

And if I need to buy the PRO plugin to learn what the plugin does… that is ridiculous. I recommend you fix that ASAP.

What does this mean? I clicked the AutoFix but that didn’t make the notice go away.

We are moving the websites to webgo managed SSD vServer

When I enable Wordfence plugin, or with Wordfence disabled and bulletproof security enabled I get http 500 server errror, I cant access front or back end

I was able with Bulletproof security activated (but not their .htaccess file) to select delete settings on uninstall

With your plugin I can’t go to settings and do that.

Checking other cases, I tried in user.ini the correct path to the wordfence-waf.php file, I also deleted the entry in the user.ini file and deleted the wordfence-waf.php

But I still get 500 server error, I have to manually in ftp move or delete wordfence plugin folder and files.

I also get the same behavior with Bulletproof security, and only way to get rid of 500 server error is to delete the directories.

I mention both plugins because may is something I need required in my server config ?

I have three different hosting packages, Hostgator, Inmotion and IONOS. I have had problems lately with updating plugins, and other admin functions. The hosting company said .htaccess in wp-admin is not neccessary plus some custom code that you recommend was breaking the administration functions, when I renamed the .htaccess for wp-admin things started working when I cleared custom code and regenerated wp-admin .htaccess things broke.

Is it really necessary ? This all started happening after wordpress from wordpress 6.2 to 6.3 6.4 but even now with 6.2 installed sometimes I get timeout errors and other errors.

Hello,
I’m getting an error on the website.

The search request is throwing a “403 Forbidden” error, caused by some sort of firewall rule/protection from the “BulletProof Security” plugin.

The search endpoint URL is (yoursite)/?vx=1&action=search_posts
A possible solution here is to exclude this URL from the protection rules added by this plugin. I’m not familiar with this plugin so not sure how to do this – you should contact the plugin support for help with this.?

Originally my site had 3 free security plugins (Bulletproof Security, Succuri and Wordfence). I have updated to the Wordfence premium plug and removed the free Sucuri plugin.
I have inactivated the free BPS plugin.
I would now like to delete the free BPS plugin but retain the improvements it made to the .htaccess file.
Question(s):
Will simply ‘deleting the plugin’ achieve my objective?
Are there additional steps or ‘gotchas’ that I need to do or take into consideration?
