We host our site with WP Engine. We have your plugin “Category Post list Widget” activated but when trying to use their “Copy site from LIVE to STAGING” functionality, the script does not run.
When your plugin is deactivated we can copy, however, unfortunately we are not displayed any errors which give us a lead on why/what is causing this issue. Are you able to provide any insight or possibly enable further logging to catch any errors created by this conflict but aren’t outputting.

I realized that I use this plug in for two different things…with widgets in a sidebar, the problems are not as big an issue as when posting on a page.
Within the widget, it recognizes the category, and will publish almost as expected.
Unlike version 1.1, rather than allowing the amount of text from the posts determine the actual length of the box in the sidebar, I have to tweak the size if I have a long article title (or if they are too short). The other thing that happens is that a news article title will jump to the next line in the middle of the box (whereas version 1.1 would go closer to the edge of the box before jumping to the next line—version 1.1 was a cleaner look than 1.2.
Examples: wnccumc.org (see right sidebar)- I had to avoid using the plug in for my “Careers” page, because it would not recognize the category for “careers”–it published “all” instead.
In my companion site, mission.wnccumc.org–the “Mission Opportunities” is only supposed to show “Opportunities” category/and Mission Stories is only supposed to show “Stories” category. Instead, it is showing “all”
Help would be appreciated–or please revert back to 1.1 which worked fine.

]]>I updated to version 1.2 this morning, and it broke my posts on a page on a couple of websites. I did not update from 1.1 on another website, and everything is working as suspected and cleaner.
The Category ID is being ignored in all circumstances with version 1.2, and I am getting just the full set of posts in every instance.
Further, with the old version the size of page was determined by the number of posts in a query and th resulting text. Now, the page has to be refined based on a length. The old version was much cleaner in application.

1) width setting does not change the display of the width
2) thumbnails are not showing. I do have thumbnails working in another plugin. Is there anything special that needs to be done to activate this feature?
Suggestion:
It would be nice to be able to control font size of the titles on this list only – not on posts. I use large titles on posts, but on a list it would look better to use smaller fonts.

]]>This plugin has done exactly what I wanted (sidebar lists of post titles belonging to a single category), but nothing happens to the titles when hovering over them. Can anyone who has the widget suggest what change I should make to the php file? I’m too ignorant even to know which bit of the code to copy here for advice.

PS I’m particularly keen to have a hover-over change because some post titles are broken over 2 lines, but the widget uses the same spacing between the 2 lines of a long post title as between different titles, which is confusing to the eye. If anyone can suggest how I change the spacing, that would be equally helpful.

]]>I realize that the problem may be a result of the fact that this plug in has not been updated in over a year.
I like the plug in, and it works very well in my site…but the various “sort By” options are not working correctly…I would like for the posts to show in random order. It would be great if they would put another set of random posts each time the page loads, but it appears that once a random group has been shown, it never changes.

]]>After having set up the list to display in the post content, the code contains ‘ sorted_by=”comment_count”‘ (if this sorting was chosen). This sorting doesn’t work unless you replace ‘sorted_by’ by ‘orderby. It then works correctly (as much as I tested it so far).

How do I make the plugin responsive?
Currently, the images take up around 3/4 of the column width which only allows for one word to appear (per line) down the side of the thumbnail at most.
I’d like the thumbnail to automatically adjust the size to fit the width of the column, when the phone is portrait, or landscape.
Can this be done?
