I could finally get the plugin to work. It works, but it causes conflicts. For example, it shows a ton of checkboxes in the list of users in administration dashboard. Besides, it does not let me delete several users at a time in the administrative dashboard. I like this plugin very much, but unfortunately it does not work well. Please update! I believe this feature: customized subscription to each category, should become part of WordPress itself. This is a must-have feature.

I installed this plugin right now, but it does not seem to work as promised. For example, The description says:
Users can Control on a category-by-category basis whether or not they get messages immediately or in a daily or weekly digest.

I need exactly such a feature, but I could not find it. I want my users to be able to select the desired categories and subscribe to those categories. They should also decide how frequently to receive emails, but this plugin does not give them any control over those settings. Even the administrator can not define which categories to include or exclude from the digest newsletter. Am I doing something wrong, or I have misunderstood the above feature?

am using the Categories Subscription plugin on a WordPress site.

My client is reporting multiple emails being sent. Some users are receiving multiple emails, other are receiving the expect amount.

There is no obvious difference between the users. Some users are subscribe to more categories than others, some roles are restricted access to certain categories. However there is no consistency between the user attributes (category access / subscription) and the number of emails being sent (i.e. one administrator with the same access/subscription setup as another administrator receives only one email, the other receives multiple emails).

Has anyone come across this problem?

This is the error I receive:

Request-URI Too Large

The requested URL’s length exceeds the capacity limit for this server.

When the error occurs?
Each time I search for an author in the back-end. (wp-admin/users.php)

I have only 60 members and 34 Categories in my website.
Maybe a possible solution would be the possibility to enable/disable the ‘Subscription’ coloumn in wp-admin/users.php.

I really like the simplicity of the plugin compared to others with the same functionality ??

Two questions/ remarks:

1) It seems to break the Simple Local Avatar (https://www.ads-software.com/extend/plugins/simple-local-avatars/) plugin…I wasn’t able to figure out why. Can somebody please help?

2) Is this plugin still actively developed?

Is there a way to test the weekly digest for formatting and functionality? We have installed and configured the plugin to go to some test accounts, but have not yet figured out how to send tests of the weekly digest emails without actually waiting for them to run on the scheduled day.

Couple of questions about this plugin:

1) Can it handle custom post types and custom taxonomies?

2) Can the checkbox page that users select/deselect their categories exist outside of wp-admin, preferably on a page on the site?
