I’m afraid I don’t have any plans on updating or maintaining the plugin. As it started as a hobby project, at the moment I don’t have any time for plugin. Also, the api which check gzip compression connects to won’t be maintained. Maybe you can switch to fastest cache or other GZIP solutions? Good luck with your website!

]]>Dear all,
I installed the plugin but sometimes this page https://www.ferentino.org/wp-admin/tools.php?page=richards-toolbox-gzip says that gzip is not running sometimes says it is running however, GTMetrix does not detect it.
Can you give me a hint to fix this problem?
Thank you very much
Hello guys, everyday I perform a check on GTMetrix just to check if everything is working correctly, today all of a sudden I get an E score saying that I do not have gzip enabled, I rechecked my .htaccess file and everything was in order, then I installed Check and Enable Gzip Compression and I am getting this error Oops! Something went wrong ?? It could be that you are on a local development environment, or that we couldn’t contact checkgzipcompression.com
Any ideas on that? It’s kinda disturbing that from B (88%) on PageSpeed in a day I drop to E(51%) for no apparent reason.
Hi, I’ve been using this plugin for around 6 months now and it suddenly just stopped connecting. Could this be because of the new updates or it’s not compatible with my other plugins? Hope you can help me resolve this as I really like this plugin, it’s helpful.

Hi Richard, I do love this plugin it is excellent, but it keeps dropping off.
It’s ceasing to work on more and more sites and speed tests show sites taking longer to load. We are now on WP 4.9.1. Do you have plans to upgrade the plugin?
Or can you check out what’s wrong????
Hi Eric or Richard,
The plugin has fallen over again, could you kindly have a look or contact me so that I can give you access. This is used on a number of my sites, but some of them it has stopped working. It does make a difference to the loading time, so I really would like it fixed again. Sorry
Hi GZip was working fine until switching to SSL.
I have several sites that are changing to SSL and nGZip doesn’t work on any of them. Please help, they need to be faster!
Thanks
Hi,
why I continue to receive the error in the screenshot:
What have I to do to fix it?
]]>For some reason when I press the enable button, the GZIP isn’t actually enabling even though the success message shows. If I go back into the settings, it’s back to the “GZIP is not enabled” message. Running tests on GZIP testing sites shows it really isn’t being enabled. What gives?
Site is live on a real domain.

Hi there
I just installed and activate gzip-plugin. When I go to Tools / GZIP Compression, I get this:
Oops! Something went wrong. It could be that you are on a local development environment, or that we couldn’t contact checkgzipcompression.com
When I go checkgzipcompression.com and put my URL, it checks and then I get “GZIP is not enabled”
Dubug info:
isApache: 1 (Apache)
enabled:
enabled-htaccess:
plugin: 1.1.7
my url is https://www.tarhuri.fi and I use Human theme
I read your anser to christianbouce (4 days ago): “Could you try without checking the extra box for using compression for images etc.?”
Can you please tell me where I find this “extra box”?
Thank you!

Hi again
If i want GZIP compression always on, can I delete the plugin once the compression is enabled? I mean, do i need the plugin to keep gzip compression enabled?
Thanks.
Hi
The plugin works for my site, however when the ‘remove alert’ link is clicked, a 404 error page appears and the alert is still there.
How can I fix it?
Thanks.

My domain is CarLoversJournal.com

I dismissed the message (clicked on the link to dismiss it) and the plugin when back to the status saying that gzip was not active.
I looked at the htaccess file and it has been modified, so why is gzip not working and why does the plugin think it is not active?

I run a WordPress Multisite and today I have a page with SSL encryption enabled. But your plugin always tells me the following message:
GZIP compression is disabled. Please enable JavaScript to view the comments powered by Disqus. 73.2% smaller!
I then click the link I come to the settings page and then there is the following:
GZIP is not enabled for https://www.mydomain.com 73.2% could be saved
I can not activate anything there, etc.
This is meanwhile also on all not SSL sides so.
What am I doing wrong?
Best wishes

Should Fix:
Optimize images
Properly formatting and compressing images can save many bytes of data.
Optimize the following images to reduce their size by 138.9KiB (37% reduction).
Compressing https://d362x8pwkim9uy.cloudfront.net/…16/10/action-archery-main-background.jpg could save 30.8KiB (16% reduction).
Compressing https://d362x8pwkim9uy.cloudfront.net/…/action-archery-business-opportunity.jpg could save 27KiB (67% reduction).
Compressing https://d362x8pwkim9uy.cloudfront.net/…oads/2016/10/the-game-action-archery.jpg could save 25.9KiB (70% reduction).
Compressing https://d362x8pwkim9uy.cloudfront.net/…ds/2016/10/250X250-Action-Archery-Ad.jpg could save 21.6KiB (37% reduction).
Compressing https://d362x8pwkim9uy.cloudfront.net/…s/2016/10/Action-Archery-Arrow-Heads.jpg could save 15.4KiB (93% reduction).
Compressing https://d362x8pwkim9uy.cloudfront.net/…ontent/uploads/2016/10/Bearlogocolor.jpg could save 12.3KiB (89% reduction).
Compressing https://d362x8pwkim9uy.cloudfront.net/…/2016/10/action-archery-logo-website.png could save 5.9KiB (29% reduction).
It’s my impression that as long as the file is zipped before passing to Cloudfront that it should be passed and remain compressed. Am I getting that right or is there something that I am still missing?
Any help provided is much appreciated!
]]>Hi Richard, fantastic job.
I try to put ur plugin in my website, the problem is after the install… all the site (wp-admin and .com) show me the error 500.
My solution is remove the code in the .htacess, but, if i make that, the check in pluggin appear “disable”.
The “PageSpeed” in Google Developers show me the notice: your site has the gzip compression, but appear not available (error 500)
What can i do in this case?, in this moment, have the plugin disable.
