Dear @serafino,
I hope you’re well. I’m bothering you again with a question. I have just received this message from Wordfence:
Critical Problems:
* The Plugin “Child Theme Generator” has been removed from www.ads-software.com.
And also found this message on your plugin page:
This plugin has been closed as of November 18, 2021 and is not available for download. This closure is temporary, pending a full review.
Does that mean the Child theme generated by your plugin for my Ocean WP will stop working? Do I need to do something to prevent the webiste from displaying wrongly?
Thank you very much once again,
Cezarina

Wanted to create a child theme but noticed it is only compatible up to 5.6.4. Will you be updating the plugin soon?
]]>Hello,
Thanks for this great plugin.
Is it compatible with WordPress 5.7?
Hi @serafino,
I hope you are well and sound. I would like to upgrade to PHP 7.4 and was wondering is OWP Child theme is compatible with it. When I did that 3-4 months ago, my website broke and now I’m a bit scared to try again.
Thank you for your help,
Cezarina
Hello,
Theme Options > Sections > Number of sections (changed to 1) > Save Options
I viewed site is browser and then repeated the above and picked original section count, then Save Options but the site never reverted back, staying the same showing one section.
I deactivated the plugin, then activated, tried again. Same.
Then I deactivated, removed plug-in, saved, then added plugin. Same.
Then I removed plug-in, theme and reinstalled both. The same.
I can’t get the plug-in to revert back to the original 5 sections.
Thanks.
Ciao.
Mike
Hi!
Really useful plugin to getting started creating the default child theme files.
However, I am having an issue getting the child theme to apply the custom header styles we have.
On our site, we have an online store with woocommerce and blog content.
The issue is that we have made a lot of custom style changes made in the parent theme and they’re not showing up when I active the child theme.
Has anyone used Xstore child themes or had any issues with custom styles that have been applied in the parent theme first?
I have tried copying the contents of styles.css from the parent theme into the child theme. But not changes. I may have to use the appearance customiser and set it all up manually again.
Thanks for any help in advance

]]>Hi,
I have changed the number of Publishing Soon and Recently Published in the Activity widget on the admin Dashboard.
I would like to add this change to the child theme but I’m not sure how as the file is located at public_html/wp-admin/includes/dashboard.php
This is the section I have edited:
function wp_dashboard_site_activity() {
echo '<div id="activity-widget">';
$future_posts = wp_dashboard_recent_posts(
array(
'max' => 15,
'status' => 'future',
'order' => 'ASC',
'title' => __( 'Publishing Soon' ),
'id' => 'future-posts',
)
);
$recent_posts = wp_dashboard_recent_posts(
array(
'max' => 10,
'status' => 'publish',

'title' => __( 'Recently Published' ),

Any guidance would be appreciated.

I haven’t modify anything myself. What action should I take? Ignore or repair. I have sent a link to the file but not sure you can see it.

When will you have a new version for Wp 5.5.x?

Hi Serafino,
I’m a bit new to WordPress, I hope this is ok to ask you? I have an old WordPress site that throws LOTS of PHP errors now, because it’s so old and so outdated – it’s a child theme that runs on Genesis as the parent theme. I recently updated both Genesis and the child theme (which is the Derby theme by Thesis.com) to both their newest versions, which worked great for fixing all the PHP errors – no more PHP errors anywhere, except now I noticed most of my site customisations are all gone and the site looks and works terribly now – it doesn’t resemble the old site at all. Would your plugin allow me to somehow bridge between the two versions of my theme, so the new version could look and work exactly the same as the old one? I can’t think of a way to successfully update and keep all my customisations. Is there a way your plugin assists in doing this?
Thank you SO much,
Stu
Hi @seraph63,
I have experienced issues with my website display after the last WP 5.5 update. Many of the Elementor blocks are not displaying properly and the site is not responsive anymore. I have noticed that your child theme generator is only compatible with up to WP 5.4.2 version only. Will you release an update for WP 5.5. If not how can I work around it?
I have restored the older WP version until I find a solution.
Thank you,
Cezarina
why does this plugin enqueue scripts on the front end? Nameley:
child-theme-generator-public.js
This is unnecessary and bad practive (there is no need), all I want is a handy method of ccreating a child theme.

Hi,
I’ve tried to translate your plugin a bit, and stumbled upon several things that may be improved.
– Don’t include unnecessary surrounding tags in a string. For example, you have several strings on the format %1$s Some text here %2$s
, when I look at the code, I can see that these placeholders simply get replaced by a pair of H3-tags. First of all, in that case there should be no space between the placeholder and the surrounding text, but even better is to echo them outside of the string.
– In many places you’ve used placeholders in order to inject various formatting tags. In these cases, it’s better to leave the tags in the string – then the translator will understand better what you want to achieve and create the corresponding translated string.
– Please really avoid situations where you start or end a tag pair inside a string but the other end of the tag pair is located directly in your code (or in a different string).
– Don’t put space in the beginning or end of a string. (If you feel an urge to add a space in the beginning or the end of a string, then that’s an obvious sign that you’re trying to form a sentence by gluing various strings together, which in many cases will make your code impossible to translate in a good way.)
– You have several strings that could be combined to one common string if you use a placeholder in a smart way: “Error: cannot write %s, permission denied”. In this case, you can inject various filenames, and even format them for easier readability.
– Don’t take for granted that the target language always has the same overall structure. For instance, the string “Error: cannot create ” (which currently ends on a space…) would be much better to present as “Error: cannot create %s.” Then the translator will have more freedom to make the result sound logical.

All looks good but i found an issue on frontend that this plugin is adding style.css twice.
1. <link rel=’stylesheet’ id=’child-style-css’ href=’https://mydomain.com/wp-content/themes/Theme-child/style.css?ver=1.0′ type=’text/css’ media=’all’ />
2. <link rel=’stylesheet’ id=’divi-style-css’ href=’https://mydomain.com//wp-content/themes/Theme-child/style.css?ver=4.3.2′ type=’text/css’ media=’all’ />
Though it’s does not affect design but it will be good for page speed optimization.
Can you please fix this issue?

Hello!
I am a fellow WordPress developer and have noticed an error being logged caused by this plugin’s Ch_Th_Gen_Admin::create_menu()
code.
In /wp-content/plugins/child-theme-generator/admin
, line 122, a dashicons icon name is provided as a seventh parameter in the add_submenu_page()
call. Because of this, the menu priority is not the seventh/last parameter.
A submenu page does not take an icon as a parameter like a toplevel admin page: https://developer.www.ads-software.com/reference/functions/add_submenu_page/
Here is the debug notice that gets displayed from this:
Notice: add_submenu_page was called incorrectly. The seventh parameter passed to add_submenu_page() should be an integer representing menu position. Please see Debugging in WordPress for more information. (This message was added in version 5.3.0.) in /var/www/html/wp-includes/functions.php on line 4903
Have a nice day!

Hi there,
I have a fair amount of code in Hueman’s Customizer Additional CSS that is styling the template and several of the plugins I’m using.
My question is: Which is the better or preferred option?
Leave the CSS code where it is (Additional CSS) or copy and paste it in the child theme’s style.css?
Thanks,
Chery.
After creating a child theme and making necessary changes, I would like to convert the child theme back to a parent theme (or integrate changes made with the parent theme). I wish to continue development on the parent theme from this point.
This is so I do not have duplicate files images pages etc, they are taking to much space and also slowing down the site. Similarly CSS files are not accessible in the dashboard. Generally this is just something that will improve the site I am working on. Would this be possible. Please advice.
Thanks

]]>I’ve just activated this plugin and created a Child theme.
Well, I think that the functions.php is not quite properly handled with the parent theme because when I changed footer.php and put it in the child folder, the changes doesn’t apply on my website.
What is the problem?
