This is not deleting images on the server…it might be deleting database entries, but it’s not useful if it’s not actually taking the images off the server as well.
Weird.

Worked perfect.
You need to be careful when deleted of course, but it does a great job!

Cuando tienes 10 a?os de imágenes en tu WP algunas ya estan mas que estorbando, y necesitas migrar a otro servidor, eliminar las que están de mas puede ayudar muchisimo.

Only appears to delete database references, not that actual images themselves!

This plugin has deleted all my images. I could be my mistake, but it happened.

I think there many images that are being referenced in another way, and the plugin doesn’t notice that, so it shows up to delete them. Luckily i’ve reliced this on time so i’ve only deleted no more than 15 images. But be careful because.
by the way, nice idea and usefull plugin if it could be trustable.

Since our website relies highly on images, I was somewhat hesitant to install and use this plugin after reading some of the one and two star reviews, but I have to say that version 1.04 of the plugin and WP 4.1 worked perfect! Our media library isn’t huge, however, so I can’t say if the issues described have now been fixed, but for us it did a great job. It automatically kept the Thumbnails, even if referenced “unused”, and it now has a feature that lets you check only those images that are not used, eliminating any confusion any one may have had manually selecting images… All in all it did a solid job!

This plugin is great but there are some features which would make it better and areas where it is dangerous.
Firstly the ‘search for unused photos’ produces a list which includes used photos but with a greyed out box. This isn’t clear AT ALL so its incredibly easy for someone to delete all their images. Luckily I manually checked all the images before deleting them and spotted this.
It also needs a way to sort by size, because some people have too many images to check manually, so allowing them to just check the largest files will let them save 80% of the space in 20% of the time.

Seems to work on 4.0.1 but to be fair I tested this out on my stagingserver with not that much content on my website, mainly header/background images.

It worked for me. Plus something unexpected.
I had to install a new WordPress one level “down” from the old one.
site.com/ to site.com/wp/
I had a HUGE image mess.
The images in the new site still pointed to the old site. I tried importing more than once, my host transferred them into the new directery (I know now that does not work), I tried plugins to pull the images into my new site – some did not recognize the old site as different, etc…I ended up with 3,500 photos, not 300, 90% not recoginized by my site – nor dealt with other fix-it plugins. Some were not showing on the site, but were in the database, and whatever else was going on.
I turns out there were a ton of “phantom” images too. Images not actually present, but recorded in the database. I learned that from this plugin.
This plugin deleted the duplicates. AND Updated my database about missing images that everything else said were there. A life saver.
I only deleted 20-50 at a time and periodically checked my site. No problem.
Thank you.

This tool clean up images. Problem is that it delet images used in sliders and woocommerce categorys etc. So first chec in the media library what is not connected to pages but u still use in other applications before deleting to much.

This plugin works fine for detecting those images directly referenced in posts but does it not pick up on legitimate files tied to image galleries. Those images are, therefore, deleted which is kind of a big problem. Good thing I had a backup! Not bad, otherwise but the plugin needs a little tweaking.

My web site has over 20K Images, I’m not able to delete duplicate images or unused images. May you please update this Plugin and allow us to select and amount a images not just the entire Media Directory?
Put an option to select 50, 100, 500 or 1,000 images per section to remove. I need to remove a lot images.

convenient plugin to clean up photo database but it should not claim that it removes unused photos. it removes pretty all photos from website

This plugin wiped every single image off my website. I am a photographer so it’s kind of necessary to have photos. Maybe it doesn’t work well with ProPhoto but that’s no excuse for deleting everything off my site.

This is a great plugin in concept. I first tried it on a test server with only 40 or so images and it did the job well. Then attempted on production server with 1,500 or so images and was getting intermittent server time outs with 2O records setting. After page 3, the server constantly timed out on shared GoDaddy hosting. Had to try DNUI which is must faster but doesn’t deal with database cleanup. Maybe that is why it is faster and doesn’t time out. Oh how I wish this plugin could perform fast with the same features! Bummed that it couldn’t do the job for me!

Needed to clean up unused sizes for over 10K images …
Worked Like a Charm.
Might want to put option when selecting ?Select/Deselect all unused child images? to exclude the 150X150 as that size thumbs are used by the WP admin media library ??
(I just regenerated that size to overcome!)
Great Work, Cheers !

It is very useful. Good job on the re-make. It works very well on my site with 1000 or 2000 images. My other site with 20 000 images, it hangs on the first start screen, I guess it’s a bit too much, cant cancel so i have to restart Apache.
