i updated to v1.2.0 and bang: “You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.”
When will this critical bug be fixed? I will remove your plugin soon otherwise.
Thanks, Eric
]]>After updating to v. 1.2.0 my website uptime manager sent a message that my website was status 500. Since I was still logged in to my site, I could continue to work on it and could see the front end. But from another browser, not logged in to the site, the message was “you do not have permission to access that page”.
I had updated quite a few plugins, so I deactivated all and the reactivated one-by-one. The only plugin that affected permissions was Comment Blacklist Updater.
]]>Hello,
after updating to version 1.2.0 there is a serious error with the message “You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.” No access is possible and the plugin must be deactivated by using FTP. Please correct error.
Thanks a lot.

]]>Thanks @apasionados for this plugin!
I tried several of the more popular versions but couldn’t make them work, because the wordpress-comment-blacklist by Grant Hutchinson would block every comment, even extremely simple ones. Do you know why that might be?
Your plugin gives me the option to use a different blacklist. So I de-selected Grant Hutchison’s Github list, and instead used this one:
https://perishablepress.com/wp/wp-content/online/code/wordpress-ultimate-comment-blacklist.txt
(see: https://perishablepress.com/wordpress-ultimate-comment-blacklist/ )
With a few tweaks, just excluding a few of his terms that don’t make sense to block for our site, I got it working.
Having the option to choose a different blacklist is a great feature which sets your plugin apart from the others. However…
When I de-select the Github Grant Hutchison blacklist, your plugin then throws PHP errors:
[02-Oct-2020 18:48:44 America/New_York] PHP Warning: Use of undefined constant _transient_timeout_blacklist_github_update_check - assumed '_transient_timeout_blacklist_github_update_check' (this will throw an Error in a future version of PHP) in /home/[path_to_our_theme]/wp-content/plugins/comment-blacklist-updater/comment-blacklist-updater.php on line 208
Perhaps you need to use some logic to see if the user has deselected the Github list before you define $transient_timeout_blacklist_update_process
?
Note: it throws this error message every time I load the admin > Settings > Discussion page
Anyway, thanks again for this plugin, and hopefully you can fix that error!
]]>We have used Contact Form 7 forever but we are changing to Fluent Forms Pro. Will this plugin be able to also block spam contact form submissions?
I am trying this one out of the list here:
https://github.com/splorp/wordpress-comment-blacklist
Because this seems to be the newest and most actively developed but one of the others seems to have Grant Hutchinson as one of the authors.
Can you tell me if you have tried the others and why you made this one. If this one works for myself and my agency I would be happy to write a review and also donate.
I really just want to cut out all of my clients getting so much contact form spam and comment spam its very annoying.
