Hi, I really excited about this plugin, but as I activated it, it’s always show ‘No Match Found’ every time I type @ followed by the username (e.g. @admin – the box always show ‘No Match Found’). I’m using the latest WP (I hope ver 6.6.2..), with GeneratePress Pro, BBPress (ver 2.6.11) and couple other small BBPress plugins (For each of small plugins, I already tested to deactivate it to check for potential conflict but still show ‘No Match Found’. Can you help me to figure it out?
]]>Hello
I am trying to use comment mentions on a forum on my website. If I am logged in as admin and access the forum I can tag members without an issue, however, the users of my site have to be logged in in order to access the forum. They have a user role of subscriber and a forum role of participant but typing @ is not bring up the list of users on the site to be able to tag them.
Are there any restrictions around the subscriber / participant role?
]]>Good day!
I have discovered some examples of double quotes (“) not working in the notifications I’m sending with your plugin.
1. When putting #post_name# in Email Subject the double quotes in a post title like “Harry Potter” outputs like this in the email subject (but correctly in Email Content):
& #8220;Harry Potter& #8221;
(added the gaps to show correctly here)
2. When putting “#post_name#” in Email Subject the double quotes added to a post title like Harry Potter outputs like this in the email subject:
\"Harry Potter\"
2. When putting #comment_content# in Email Content the double quotes in a comment like “Hello” says Harry Potter created with the function wp_new_comment($data) outputs like this in the email subject (while double quotes put directly in Email Content works fine):
\"Hello
\
" says Harry Potter
A little surprising since both emojis and my swedish ??? works fine ??
Is this fixable on your side?
]]>After updating to php8.2 (WordPress 6.4.3, Comment Mention 1.7.6), we were getting a fatal error on line 150 of common-functions.php where the array_key_exists() call was expecting an array in the second argument.
I assumed that @cmt_mntn_settings was empty, and the OR command was failing as a result.
As a workaround, I modified this to split out the OR, which seems to have fixed it but it’s a bit of a hack:
$cmt_mntn_settings = get_option( 'cmt_mntn_settings' );
if ( ! empty( $cmt_mntn_settings)) {
if ( ! array_key_exists( 'cmt_mntn_enabled_user_roles', $cmt_mntn_settings ) ) {
return true;
}

Hi,
I got the error below from WordPress after turning on this plugin. We’re definitely interested in trying this plugin when it’s stable, so hopefully this is something that could be fixed with an update or something. Just let me know if there’s anything we should do on our side to fix this.
Thanks!
Matt

Good evening!
I’m very happy with this plugin – and today I decided to get the pro version! ??
I soon realised that it might not give me the functionality I was hoping for… Which is this:
I want the Display Names to be output when mentioning users (which in my case is First Name + Last Name) in the comment section. Is that possible?
That option would make much sense I think, since WordPress usernames (in my case automatically created from the users email adress) is not very nice to output in a community where I want the mentions to feel coherent, personal and easily identified.
Is there some way I can fix this?
If not: Could this feature request be fulfilled by your team?
Good day!
I’m happily using your plugin to send email notifications to users when a button is pressed, that automatically generates comments with @username in them.
When the buttons generate a comment with @username in it this error message is shown for a short time (before the page is automatically refreshed):
Warning: foreach() argument must be of type array|object, bool given in mysite.com/wp-content/plugins/comment-mention/app/main/class-comment-mention.php on line 284
That line is:
// Iterate the username loop.
foreach ( $usernames as $username ) {
Can you understand why that happens? I guess it could be my special implementation making it show… but maybe it’s something that should be fixed?
]]>Good day!
Your plugin brings great functionality to my webpage when it comes to notifications. But we don’t want to point our users to the author pages.
In the comment section we use CSS to disable the links created when @username is written. But in the mail notifications we haven’t managed to remove them (because they are controlled by “user agent stylesheet” in the mail reader I think).
Could you add an option for not making a mention create that link to the author page? Or do you know of another solution?
]]>Good day!
The free plugin works fine for my basic needs. What I think is missing though is the possibility to use the shortcodes (like #post_name#) in the email subject for notifications. That should be a pretty standard functionality?
]]>Hi, may I know how can I add line break to the email text setting?
Although I already put the text into separate lines in Email Content setup, but on the receiver end it appears in one sentence.

]]>Hi, I don’t know why suddenly dropdown list not appearing when user type @ to mention somebody. Is it due to the recent update?
]]>*Issue seems to affect both pro and free version of the plugin*
When Mentioning @user, in the event that the user set their email address as the username, the feature does not work.
My suspicion is that the @ symbol being called as part of the email address breaks the functionality.
This is a huge problem for my use case because nearly all my users are created and imported from my sister site and their username is set to their email automatically.
Would it be possible (maybe even just as a pro feature) to have an option in the plugin to set your own qualifying symbol to run the “mentions” feature?
Here is a quick example I drafted up to visually display what I mean:
https://snipboard.io/b5noKu.jpg
In this example I would have changed the identifier symbol to * instead of @
This is just one simple way to resolve the issue that would also add value to the pro version!
Or if there is a simpler way to allow email addresses that would be fine too
Hi, is it possible to hide @WPadminusername in the drop list for security reason?

]]>Hi, Plugin works with comments but not with BBpress.
]]>Thank you for great plguin.
I know the pro version can search at mention by First / Last name.
But how about display name?
If not, will you add this feature?
I have a BBPress forum with WordPress installed and Avada Theme. I am not able to use the @mention function anywhere on my forums within BBPress. I do not have buddypress installed. Strictly BBPress as my forums. Installed Plugins for the Forum are:
Ultimate Member and a few of there extensions
BBP Style Pack
Comment Mention
BBPress
BBP Notify
GD BBPress Attachments
Thanks for any info and help.
@with-username does tag them but it doesn’t give me a drop down of what users are on the forums and i cant figure out how to get it to do that.

]]>Hi Bunty, and thanks for the nice plugin!
Unfortunately, it is not quite working for me right now.
The emails part works OK, but there is no dropdown on the frontend to select usernames after “@” (it has to be entered manually).
In addition, there is a Console Warning:
“DevTools failed to load source map: Could not load content for https://redacted.domain/wp-content/plugins/comment-mention/app/assets/js/jquery.caret.map: HTTP error: status code 404, net::ERR_HTTP_RESPONSE_CODE_FAILURE”
Can you help with troubleshooting this?
Thanks!

Hi,
the plugin is sending the notification email Twice when I submit the comment,
Could you please help me solve the same ?
Hi there. Is there a way to allow users to unsubscribe from mention emails?
My country has stringent anti-spam laws, so I can’t just leave “whether to send email to mentioned user or not” selected.
Thank you.
]]>Hi,
I have downloaded the bbpress styles pack and it is conflicting with you plugin. I have tried to go through the styles pack CSS and delete what I can to make your plugin work again.
Problem is I need the style pack for other thinks, but I want your plugin as it works better. Can I make your plugin a high priority?
Any ideas?
Thanks
When you click the @link, you get an author link, not a commenter’s list of comments.
]]>Hello, first of all, this is a brilliant plugin!
It works as should on post comments, but not on page comments. I have comments enabled for all pages on my website and when I type in “@” the dropdown to search for users doesn’t show up. If I manually write the user’s username, for example, @username
in the comment, the email notification works.
In post comments, everything works fine. Can you help please?
]]>HI,
It works great in my bbpress. thanks, will buy a coffee lol
One question, a lot of my users don’t know peoples usernames but know there first and last names. Is it possible to have it, so they can type there first/last name but it comes up with there username? and only displays user name when posted.
@username(first-last)
thanks
]]>Hello, Bunty your plugin is good but there is a feature I’ll like you to add to your plugin. I will like you to also implement a feature with frontend and backend user mention just like how Instagram works. I want to be able to mention people on my site and instead of the plugin just sending emails only to them I will like the plugin to also create a page in WordPress frontend so that users can see people who mention them. I will support you in this. Thanks
