Hi. We’ve got centralized moderation so we want to do the opposite of this plugin’s mission. Yet, the info page for this plugin says it can do it: “If, by any chance, the post author has no moderation rights (Contributor level) or there is no author e-mail set then the default site e-mail address will still get the notification.”
As it was noted by other user nearly 3 years ago, although you have User Role plugin configured to not allow Authors of Contributors to moderate anything, the plugin does not work as expected ??
The plugin’s author told him that he would test that, but I see this plugin still doesn’t check that moderate_comments permission.
]]>Hello @ravanh,
as we use and rely on this plugin we worry about it possibly being discontinued. The last update is three years ago and the message “This plugin hasn’t been tested with the latest 3 major releases of WordPress.” doesn’t inspire confidence, too.
Ok, there are small plugins whose code doesn’t have the need of being changed over quite long time periods even in terms of new PHP versions. But at least a compatibility declaration update should be done every year or so. Else we as users cannot know if there is someone at all who still cares about possible security holes or other update needs if there would be some.
Would it be possible that you release an update for declaring the plugin compatible to the most recent WordPress and to let us know that you further do maintain this plugin?
Else if you don’t intend to continue this plugin, please let us know, too, so that we can look for alternatives.
Greetings and thank you a lot for your work so far,
-doffine
We have this plugin on a client site where I am the admin, but the client does all of the posting and comment moderation. It’s worked just fine up until today.
The only thing that’s changed recently on this site is that over last weekend, we migrated the hosting of this site to Cloudways, which has varnish caching running. With that have anything to do with why I might have gotten the comment moderation email today?
Anything else I should be checking on? Suggestions for troubleshooting appreciated.
]]>It tests: edit_comment
This is a known capability, but this seems outdated / unused, the plugin “User Role Editor” does not show it.
IMHO it should test for: “moderate_comments”, which in turn requires “edit_posts”. So basically it should test for both of them.
Hope this helps,
Tim
]]>If this plugin could be expanded to allow for notifying editors of comments held in moderation, as well as the author, that would be very useful.

]]>Great little plugin, just one minor quibble:
1.- Is there any way to modify the email contents and specifically the links at the bottom? I am doing all comment moderation via the front-end, so I don’t want any links to the back-end in the emails.
Many thanks.

]]>Sorry, but you wrote:
“Normaly, when a comment gets posted to a particular post, the author of that post gets a notification about it.”
Isn’t this sufficient? If that comment is held for moderation, the author will moderate it when ht gets notified, if the comment is not held form moderation, he will be notified as well, but the comment will appear instantly in the post.
Am I wrong?

]]>Hi,
Great functionality especially for WordPress multisite, but can’t activate it on a site basis. The plugin is nowhere to be seen in the plugins screen.
I checked via ftp and it’s there. But can’t activate it so it isn’t working.
I then added it to the mu-plugins folder and then it works, but I prefer to be able to activate it on a site basis.
Anyone knows what is causing this issue?

]]>I’ve installed your plugin but the authors of my site are not receiving emails at all. And me, as the admin, am not either. I have 3 users in our site and they’re all set to Administrator. Could that be why it’s not working?

]]>I am using the atahualpa theme on a privately hosted blog with multiple authors. I have yet to find a plug in that will make sure an author is alerted by email when a comment is made on his/her post.
I tried a few plug ins, none of which worked. I had hopes for this one which I have installed and it also does not work:
“Send Comment Moderation E-mail only to Post Author”
Thanks so much!

]]>Hi Rolf,
This is a great little plugin! Unfortunately, Version 0.2 does not install or upgrade correctly. I had to manually move the files from the trunk
subdirectory to the next level up. It looks to me like the wrong archive file is being used for Version 0.2, because it has these subdirectories: assets
, branches
, tags
, trunk
. Can you please fix this so that others can more easily enjoy the benefits of your plugin?
Thanks very much,
Fred Chapman

]]>I don’t want notifications to go to just the admin address, but I also don’t want notifications to go to every author. If this plugin had a feature that allowed me to select specific authors that wish to opt out of all comment notification, it would be perfect.

]]>I was excited to see this plug-in because it is exactly what someone asked for.
When it is installed, neither admin or author receive comment notification emails. Author can see comments when logged in but there is no checkbox to allow comments to be selected for handled and no approve|reply|delete menu.
Deactivating restores email notifications. Author email is valid.
Any ideas?
