I know that the goal is to keep the plugin lightweight, but it would be great if the author of the post/page could be auto-subscribed to comments. This would ensure that the author is notified if someone asked a question, and could respond accordingly.

This plugin does currently have the option to send all notifications to an additional email address. That’s fine for a single-person website, but is NOT ideal when there are multiple authors.

I just installed the Lightweight Subscribe To Comments plugin to my website, and it’s working well, except for one problem: it also appears on WooCommerce reviews forms.

How can I disable this? It doesn’t make sense for people to subscribe to product reviews.

The Plugin “Lightweight Subscribe To Comments” appears to be abandoned (updated August 30, 2020, tested to WP 5.4.12).

I just recently installed this plugin and am now testing it. However, if somebody leaves a comment, the Long List of Subscribers remains empty and they do not get notified about follow-up comments. I have tried:

• Notification on by default and leaving it checked when posting my comment
• Notification on by default, but unchecking the checkbox when posting a comment
• Notification off by default, but checking the checkbox when posting a comment

None of these approaches seem to work, the Long List of Subscribers is still empty.

Any ideas, where this issue is coming from?

On https://www.mail-tester.com/ my test email gets a score of 8.5/10. I think that’s pretty decent. The two biggest spots where the emails lose points is that:

1. HTML-only message, but there is no HTML tag

2. Message only has text/html MIME parts You should also include a text version of your message (text/plain).

I know it sounds weird, but in my case it is site with very few users, and I wish they get notification before they even visit or comment the page.

I would like to ask if it’s possible to change the settings to notify you only on follow up replies to your own comment.

I have translated the strings via a .po file, but I still see them in english in frontend (my default site language is italian)

I see that this kind of strings are present in backedn and can be customized manually, but I wonder if I can translate them via a .po file since they are already in the .pot file provided with the plugin.

Hi,

Some post usually receive 100+ comments. A visitor would never like to fill their inbox with 100 email untill doing unsubscribe.

So, why not add an option just for “single commnet” response. This would limit the amount of outgoing e-mail; not to forget that’s also an extra cost.

PS the plugin seems to be working flawlessly on live site.

I couldn’t reply to the original feature request but would be interested in the double opt-in feature as well.

I had to disable this plugin cause when is active and someone post a comment it delay for 30 seconds until page reload.

If plugin is disable post are made in less than 5 seconds.

I have some questions regarding personal data collected from the subscribers.

1) Are ip address and other personal data (other than name and email) collected?

2) Are subscriber data sent anywhere outside of my web site database?

3) Are subscriber data accessable for the plugin developer or others in any way?

Emails sent to me (I guess it’s the same for the users), are including links to the post with tracking subdomain, but I of course get a 404 as I don’t have such a subdomain.
For instance, here’s a link for example (changed my domain to domain.com):

Is that a bug? I don’t remember this was the situation in the past. Is there a way I can change it?

I have some users that simply put false email address to comment. I can delete them from this plugin admin page but the problem is that I have to enter every time that kind of user comments.

So I think it is a good idea to have some kind of field to enter not allowed email address to be subscribed. So I stop receiving errors to my admin email.

I am testing this plugin.
I created a new user. I made a comment as a new user. The new user receives the thank you for first comment email.

When I reply to the comment of the new user the new user never gets an email notification. Also the user is not listed under the Long List of Subscribers which I assume should list the user.

FYI I have a WordPress Multisite

Is it possibile that the Author would continue to always recceive email notifications while follow on commenters don’t until they submit their content with the checkbox enabled?

Hi, I’ve tried a few plugins for this feature, the only one that seems to work is the one that I don’t want (jetpack). Can you please help, this plugin does not seem to work with the P2 theme currently on the site. Have you heard of any solutions, any ideas?

I’ve tested the plugin on a fresh wordpress installation and it worked great. I’ve configured it to my liking, then installed it on my live site and copied the configuration.
Unfortunately, the box nor the text are showing on my site. Can it be due to the use of ltr.css of the theme?

I’ve successfully installed the plugin and it’s shown correctly on my site. When a user subscribes their email address is added to the back end and I visually see that they have signed up for a subscription. However, no emails are sent to the user. No notifications of reply’s or opt-in emails… nothing.

I tried the “test email” function and it also doesn’t send any emails.

I have a few other plugins installed and tried disabling them… still no emails.

Suggestions?
