Astra theme has this feature but I’m using a new theme (GeneratePress) for a new website. Plugin doesn’t work. Would be nice to have it back.
This worked a treat for a long time but it’s suddenly not working. I tried deactivating all plugins except this one and it still didn’t work (cleared cache etc). It’s now displaying on the single post page even when I have it checked.
I just want to show featured images on archives/recent posts widgets but not on the single post pages.
Any ideas? I’m using Divi theme.
Thanks
is it possible to set this plugin on for all posts? i always need featured images for blog post lists and sharing but i don’t want them to show on the post itself when in single blog post view.
Hi,
Thanks for this great plugin. I’ve seen in FAQ how to hide featured images from displaying in posts for all NEW posts, but I’d like to run a SQL query via phpmyadmin in order to insert the meta_value ‘yes’ for meta_key ‘cybocfi_hide_featured_image’ in wp_postmeta table for all previously published posts.
If anyone can help, I’d be really thankful !!
On my website I expect to see the featured images on the home page view. But when using the menu to see the single view I would expect the image to be hidden. But they are still there.
I am using the WP seventeen theme on WP 6.3.1
Hi,
I have the box ticked so the featured image doesn’t display on a single page but it still does. This wasn’t happening before I dont think.
Hi,
anybody else experiencing that since WP6.3 (or Upgrade twentytwentythree to 1.2 – not sure when it started) on tt3 featured images are shown in the frontend, even if the checkbox “Display featured image in post lists only, hide on singular views.” is activated.
Example on a clean DEV: https://spielwiese5.hanfverband-dev.de/hello-world
Before it worked fine….
Best regards

I am not sure if this plug in just doesn’t work currently with the update, but as of last week, all of a sudden every post on our site is showing duplicate featured photos. I have tried everything to remove them and it’s not working. Is it an issue with the theme capability now?
Didn’t this (see title) work before? If not, then here’s a feature request: It would be great, if a non-displayed feature image would still be visible in preview, when I post the link to Mastodon, Twitter, X or wherever. Even LinkedIn. Thanks for considering.
And if the plugin is intended to do so (I somehow vaguely remember it does), then what could be the reason my blog stopped working like this weeks or months ago?
Hi cyrillbolliger,
I have seen the topic https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/featured-image-removed-from-query-loop-block/, any news about this? It seem’s, that on a fresh install WP6.2.2 with no plugins and thwentytwentythree as the theme the loop is not showing featured images from posts, where the checkbox not to show featured images in the single-view is set.
The only workaround I found ist to use covers-blocks instead of the post-image-block, but I don’t think, this is a good solution. The trouble-Shooting code in the functions.php is not solving this.
Is there a perspective that this Plugin will work with the Gutenberg query loop?
Best regards
Chris

When you create a new post or uncheck the value the metadata stays with the meta_key ‘cybocfi_hide_featured_image’ and a empty meta_value. I think either filling out the value as ‘no’ or false (0) might make it more clear. Or even better would be to just remove the row from the db completely, as its means less rows in the postmeta table, which could lead to better performance for sites with lots of posts.
First, let me say, this plugin is great! Now the suggestion, it would be awesome if the developers can add a checkbox (on/off) at the admin list of posts window level. I have over 300 posts, and I’ve turned this app on for about 20% so far (Display featured image in post lists only, hide on singular views). Problem is, I did not keep track of which one’s were turned on since I did not do this in any structured fashion. My disorganized approach aside, I think this app would still be so much more powerful and efficient to be able to turn it on/off at the admin list of posts window level, since you won’t have to go into every individual post just to do that, and you can see exactly which posts have it on/off. Note, a global on/off would not work since some posts still need to remain off. Thanks for the app.
We are using https://webnus.net/modern-events-calendar/
Here is how they put the featured image on the single page, how can we ensure this is hidden as the checkbox is not taking effect?

<?php echo MEC_kses::element($event->data->thumbnails['full']); ?>

Hi, I won’t link the page unless you request it, as there is NSFW content, but as of the update, the plugin is removing featured images from the Query Loop block.
Previous to this the plugin worked perfectly. It removed the featured images from the pages themselves, but allowed them to be shown in the query loop block.
Currently the featured images still show up when the page is in edit mode, just not in the live versions.
I am using: WordPress 5.9.3 running Writings theme.
My list of plugins is:
Akismet Anti-Spam
Conditionally display featured image on singular pages and posts
Display Posts

All plugins are the free version, if a paid version exists.
I have a LearnPress course with a featured image. I deselected the option to hide the featured image for that course. But the featured image is still being hidden by the plugin and it looks terrible. If I deactivate this plugin, then the featured image is displayed normally.
Hi,
Firstly, thanks for the plugin! It does exactly what I was looking for.
However I came across an issue I need help with.
My website has a sidebar in each post with a “recent posts widget” showing 3 of my most recent posts. This often leads to the post I am currently viewing to be listed under “recent posts,” even though I am already on that post. (Not ideal in itself, really.)
Problem: If I open a post which has the featured image hidden using the plugin, the featured image for this post is also removed from the recent posts widget in the sidebar.
I read this EXACT problem in an earlier thread, saying that the problem was addressed in an update. However, I am still experiencing the problem, and therefore, started a new thread.
Thanks in advance for any help! Much appreciated!
Hi, Please update this plugin. The Conditionally display featured image plugin. Thank you.
Using WP 5.9 and latest Graphene theme (from Sept 2021). When I ask to hide featured image on single post, it not only hides the default featured image the theme wants to insert at the top of the content, but also disables the “Post featured image” block where I wanted to deliberately insert the featured image within the content.
Not sure whether there’s any easy way for your code to distinguish these cases, but it would be nice if you allowed the featured image where the post explicitly asks to insert it.
NOTE: Graphene has an option to turn off featured images on post pages generally, but sometimes you want to display them generally except for certain posts — where you still want to display them, just at a different position and size than usual.

So sorry to add to your work, but I’m self-taught and don’t know how to follow the help directions you gave to fix it when the plugin isn’t working. (That is, the featured image is showing up on the post even when I select to say I want it not to show up.)
I don’t know how to change this, which I assume I need to… “If your theme does a customized call to load the featured image (like the Twenty Seventeen theme), this plugin might not work! Use get_the_post_thumbnail() or wp_get_attachment_image() to be sure it will work.”
I’m using Brigsby (premium) https://www.ads-software.com/themes/brigsby/
I can go ask their support if we are using “customized call load” but I still wouldn’t know how to fix it… help?

Hi,
First of all, thanks for the plugin, it does exactly what I was looking for.
However I faced an issue I would like to present.
My website has a widget sidebar in single posts with a latest posts widget, which uses WP_Query to get the posts.
I found that if I open a post which featured image is hidden with the plugin, the featured image for this post is also removed from the latest posts widget.
I checked the source code of the plugin, and found the section “Remove the filters, if it’s not the main query.”, which I assume is purposed to avoid such issues.
I modified the code a bit, to use “! $query->is_main_query()” instead of “! is_main_query()” (and of course passed $query as argument in set_visibility() function) as suggested here: https://developer.www.ads-software.com/reference/functions/is_main_query/ and it seems to solved the issue.
However I’m not a PHP magician, so I’m not sure if it’s the correct method to fix the issue, but if you also think it is, please include this change in the next update of the plugin.
Thanks in advance!
Hello,
Thank you for creating this plugin. I have a question concerning the GDPR laws in Europe. I need to know if this plugin is processing any data from my website/visitors. I can’t find this anywhere.
I hope you can clear this up for me. Thank you!

I use your plugin to close the theme self-provided features and add another featured picture in my posts by using plugins such as featured images by URL.
because of the different sizes of featured images I need between the front page and post pages.
After your updated version today, I can’t show my added featured images using such as shortcode [zoom].
Would you like to recover the old version?
Thank you.
