This plugin is very useful.
One comment, you need to name the variables ctct-something, not just ctct or anything else really. If you don’t it won’t update Constant Contact.

This was a painless plugin to set up and the learning curve wasn’t steep. I found issues with the submissions initially but disabling the Constant Contact plugin that was previously installed solved that!

Very Easy to set up.

Caution to users of this plugin: There is a MAJOR bug in this plugin that was reported on GitHub in December 2016 and has not yet been addressed. Judging by the last commit, this bug has been present in this plugin since at least December 29, 2015.
This bug is major in that it signs people up even if they haven’t opted in by ticking the checkbox before submitting a form. This behavior potentially causes all US residents who have this plugin installed and operating on their server to be in violation of the CAN-SPAM Act of 2003 which requires people actively subscribe before receiving solicitation. In extreme cases this may result in litigation, but even on the lesser end of the spectrum, your server will certainly get reported to a number of blacklists – potentially hurting your business down the road.
I will be happy to change my review once this bug has been addressed – otherwise it seems pretty solid. But this is a big one.

I just wanted to confirm that it is indeed working on the latest WordPress (as per this date) with no issues and it’s pretty straightforward if you follow the instructions.

I’ve read almost every review here and none of them properly explain how to set up with the newer WordPress updates. The author has in fact updated it to work, and I’ve included steps below:
1. Download and activate plugin
2. Enter Constant Contact Account login information
3. Assign which fields from the contact form will go to which fields in constant contact
4. Go back to the form editor and add the Constant Contact Form List into the form as if it is a field.
5. Test it and it should work.
I gave it 5 stars because the author is getting a bad rap for a plugin that works. Don’t let the 1-star reviews draw you away. Just take the time to learn the plugin and it will work like a charm.

After reading some of these reviews, I was expecting problems. NOPE. I installed the plugin, added my CC info and it worked right away. Pulled up all of my lists and allowed me to integrate with Contact 7. Sent a test and it went right through. Thank you

Thanks so much for the update! After more than a year, all my forms are now on speaking terms with constant contact once again. I did have to rebuild a couple of my forms, and relink a few things, but everything is working perfectly, including my custom fields. Thanks!

I discovered this doesn’t work anymore. The forum showed some issues and obviously they aren’t solved.

The “Detailed Integration Instructions” packaged with the plugin are horribly out of date. The screenshots appear to be from WordPress 3.0 and don’t match up at all with the actual screens you get when configuring the plugin.
You can map which fields you want to send to Constant Contact, but there’s no way to select the list you want to add the user to when they submit your form.
Despite all this, I mapped my form fields and submitted a test. I received the submission via email, so the form works, but Constant Contact did not capture any of the data submitted.
About the only thing that did work was entering the credentials for Constant Contact.

This plugin does not work with WP 4.4. The opt in checkbox doesn’t show up and when I finally tweaked the code to get it to show up, it sent all information to Constant Contact whether the user had clicked on the ‘opt in’ checkbox or not. Not good. It also marked all the contacts as ‘implied’ even if they had opted in (they should be ‘express’ if they’ve opted in).

This was extremely fast and easy to use. All you need to do is follow the directions.

As the headline says, does not work with 4+, which was released 9 months ago. Plugin developer is silent on the threads requesting help with this issue on Github:
https://github.com/katzwebservices/Contact-Form-7-Newsletter/issues/45
https://github.com/katzwebservices/Contact-Form-7-Newsletter/issues/38
https://github.com/katzwebservices/Contact-Form-7-Newsletter/issues/30
And this 7 month old thread with has crickets:

Will write new (5 star) review when/if developer decides to respond, as plugin worked great prior to 4.0.

I set it and left it. It’s great! Haven’t had to bother with it all since.

Simple to set up and it worked.

Excellent lightweight, straightforward, integrated solution. You guys nailed it! Thank you. I feel badly that your rating scores are not higher because they should be.
I have a sneaking suspicion that the people who complained about this plugin not working did not “Generate Tag” and paste the generated shortcode into the Contact Form 7 form input. This is what makes the whole thing work! If your form is not working even after checking the box for “Send form entries to Constant Contact,” make sure you do the above step, and it will work great. I promise. This is what happened to me ??

Thank you so much for the update. The plugin works perfectly now! Thank you again!

The plugin is not working with wordpress version 4.0 and contact form 3.9.3.
On this version they made a few new changes i don’t know if that’s the problem, WPCF7_ContactForm object is no longer accessible and we should use now ->id() not ->id
Any plans on updating soon?

Plugin fails to add entries (email, name fields) to Constant Contact. There are no error messages or warnings of any kind. CF7’s core functionality is not compromised.
I followed the developer instructions, yet no luck. I did not open the thread on GitHub since it seems to me the previous support questions had not been resolved.
I will gladly change the rating if the issue with Constant Contact is resolved.
Running:
Contact Form 7::
3.9.3
Contact Form 7 Newsletter:
2.0.6.1

Does exactly what it says it will. Installation and setup was a breeze. Even includes options for hidden opt-in or a checkbox with customizable verbiage, and others. Thanks for all your hard work, you saved me a ton of time!

I installed this plugin and my site got hacked. There is some malicious content.

During the installation when I click on constant contact nothing is loaded on the settings page other than the constant contact logo

Don’t bother with the plugin, it’s not working for me either. It’s not consistent and there is no developer support. It might work for a few tests, and then you will notice that you won’t get anything. I’ve left a message on GitHub but it was never resolved.

Updating to 4 stars following quick fix by the author.
