Good plugin. I have used for quite some time, but there are outstanding issues and seems like some javascript conflicts with other scripts in WP. There are some errors in console that appear occasionally, related to Contact Form. But it does not seem to cause enough trouble to stop using it. Hopefully the issues will be fixed as there are plenty of other users pointing to the issues.

With each update, a new js file or ajax call appears to slow down the page. If only they were useful, but they are useless, and worst of all, any attempt to get support is ignored. Just search the forum for: …/feedback, …/schema (which is 0 bytes but takes 500ms every time), …/swv/index.js. And in the latest update, it now forces the loading of hooks.js and i18n.js

I have reCaptcha on all my pages, but can’t find out how it can be invisible.

Coming from the 800 pound gorilla in the WordPress contact form room (cough WPForms cough) that gatekeeps almost everything it can do beyond the simplest form in their paid form (and it’s not even a one-time fee, they want money constantly!) – Contact Form 7 is a welcome breath of fresh air.
I was able to set up exactly what I needed within 30 minutes with the detailed help docs the author provided. Once I get confirmation from the rest of the folks in my org (we run a non-profit community cohousing building) we’ll definitely be donating $20-30 for the devs time. It’s so nice to see a truly free product out there – everyone should donate to thank the author.

I have made 20+ websites using this but now I feel there are so many good alternatives in the market and those are top notch. I would recommend to try them. I am experimenting with Fluent Forms, WP forms and Gravity forms currently. Hope I will make one decision but I am sure, Contact form 7 will not be in my list.

This plugin is no longer a good choice. The maintainer makes breaking changes without listening to community feedback and doesn’t care.
In 5.9.6 he added a very short limit to fields length (maxlength) that broke forms on thousands of website. He didn’t listened to any feedback asking him to reverse the change, nor to add an built-in option to prevent the issue.

This used to be my go to contact form. However, after the most recent update it no longer works with Google Recaptcha, and forms fail to be submitted. Turning off recaptcha and it works again, but, even with Akismet installed, it’s unusable due to the number of spam submissions received.
If it starts working with recaptcha again I will re-review

Version 5.9.6 applies the default maxlength validation rule to text fields (text, email, telephone number, URL, and text area) if they have no maxlength option. The default maxlength value is 80 for single-line text and 400 for a text area. If your fields expect text input longer than the default value, set the maxlength option explicitly.
Why ?
Why not make the default text field unlimited? There are many users who receive forms with more than 400 characters in their contact form messages.

Again there is something wrong: the form keeps spinning after submitting. No errors, everything uptodate, etc. Why does this happen from time to time? The plugin is unreliable this way.

I absolutely love Contact Form 7. As a professional developer with clients at every price point, I still prefer it over the premium plugins because of how simple and versatile it is. It embodies the concept of plugins in that it only provides the functionality you need and if you want more, there’s a plugin for that! Best contact form plugin for WordPress. The 1 click setup makes things very easy for any level of wordpress user. It automatically captures the admin email id for setting up the form.

No fancy or overfilled user interface, no ads, no shiny bling bling. Just simple slick options and most plain html editable stuff where u can fine tune everything to your desire, when u are a bit aware of HTML and CSS.
Don′t need the overfilled other plugins just to create a form. But you are also good to go to install integrations for more options.
I also found a good alternative, in house build by develeper: “Really Simple CAPTCHA” plugin, as an alternative to Google or Akismet, which I think could give users from EU better data privacy (works also like a charm).
So, I can really recommend this and don′t understand some bad reviews here. I think some people are just overwhelmed by the usage of plain html and code. But for developers this is gold! ??
