still works well and reliably

Works great!
I wish it had the ability to set a group as having access to everything that is restricted (i.e. user is not actual WP admins, but added to an admin type group that people could be assigned to).
I highly recommend an addition I found online that allows you to additionally protect a small portion of a page: https://www.my105e.com/wordpress-plugins/page-security-by-contexture-shortcodes

This is almost a great plugin. My problem is that it doesn’t go far enough.
For example, I have just created an event which I have restricted to Registered Users only. The problem is that the event still appears on our diary page (All in One Event Calendar). It’s only when you click on the event that you are told that you cannot view this item. The event in question is no big deal, it’s just not relevant to the general public. I just want the item hidden in the first place.
I’ve had similar issues with posts.
Or am I missing something here?

Sorry only one star guys! I CAN’T DISABLE PROTECTION ON ALL PAGES/POSTS THAT I PROTECT! So to disable the protection i must disable the plugin! And more, all menus that i protect disappear so prefer to use the integrated protection from WP

This is almost a good plugin – and it sorta works after you understand how to do it that took me only minutes on the forum, not from your instructions.
BUT… After configuring it, my site is missing some things. A group was added and a user assigned to it. Then, a post and a page was set to allow that group. Yes, I clicked “update” to ensure the post and page were updated.
I logged in as the user and cannot edit the POST. All I see is “View” for all posts, including the one that this group is assigned to.
The PAGES link is missing in the left menu although this user should be allowed to edit a PAGE.
The parent POST shows the lock in the list. Confusing especially when other POSTs show no lock.
And, the live website denies users to pages that were protected. I thought your plugin affected only the admin area, not the live website?????
Hum…. what gives? And, what gives with the sporadic support? your plugin is almost there with a little tweaking. I am so glad to test it before making a purchase. If it worked, I would send $$ to you to buy a beer.
If you fix these within a week, I’ll change this to a 5-star review.

This plugin is awesome and has allowed me to create a professional extranet very easily. It gives a lot of flexibility for managing user permissions for posts (including calendar items) and pages. Thank you so much!

Hi all!
I’m trying the plugin in a WP site and it does work fine managing access to pages but not for files. This is the case:
1) As admin,Upload a PDF file, then WP saves it on the wp-uploads directory. The route is something like that: https://192.168.43.26/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/PDF-4.pdf
2) Accessing to the file in the Media section on the WP Editor, you can “restrict access” and set the groups who can access the file.
3) Logged as an user out of the groups allowed to access the file, you can access directly to it by copy and paste the URL in the browser. So the file is not protected.
?Is there a solution to this issue?
Thank you!!

Gives me greater control over who sees what on the front end of the site. Easy to use, and used daily. Thanks!

We use this plugin to secure a membership directory, and it functions just as we hoped.

Initial tests indicate this is a great plugin. The functionality provided was exactly what I needed. However on first use, when there was no user logged in, when that anonymous user tries to click through to a secure page they get a 500 Internal Server Error. The page displays with the message “There is a problem with the resource you are looking for, and it cannot be displayed.”
The page displays correctly if a user is logged in.
The issue occurred with WordPress 3.5.1 and plugin version 1.5.8. Resolution was found by setting up custom pages for access denied on Authenticated and Anonymous users in the plugin settings.
The setting is accessible from Settings -> Page Security. On the page that is loaded click the top check-box labeled (to the right) as “Use pages for default access denied screens”. Then leave the Protection Type radio button at the default value of Redirect.

Great plug-in! So glad I found it instead of using a bunch of code just to secure a page on wordpress site. Thanks!
