I have tried a zillion times to edit the php files associated with the theme I’m using. I keep seeing instructions from your team member who indicates that Coursepress is virtual and uses the same sidebar php files as the theme.
I just can’t seem to get rid of the duplicate content in your right sidebar.
Has anyone been able to edit, or change sidebar for Coursepress? Can it be changed yes or No? If no, why design such a stupid plugin that shows the same information twice? Mark me, a very easy to use Plugin, but who wants to see the same information all over the page?

Добрый день!
Course enrollment problems
WP, PHP, CoursePress, Firefox and Chrome – все программы последних версий на 31.03.2019г.
Тема WP стоит стороннего разработчика.

1. what’s different between free and pro ver? I cannot find it in the description (poor doc). The description writes that “All of the course management features in the free and pro versions are exactly the same.”, if it is the same why you separate it to free and pro version?
2. Buggy: cannot click to step 2 after finishing step 1.

Hello reputable developers. When an updating of a plug-in there is? Updates were not 8 months. Whether support of a plug-in will continue?
]]>Rating: 5 stars
It’s a great plugin, but I hope the new release will be released soon

Good

Maybe it works “fine” with themes built for that. But it’s definitely not for developers.
The plugin rewrite unnecessarily URLs like /courses
and /courses/category
making unvalid requests with “page_id=-1” wich seems to break a lot of native stuff. For example, is_post_type_archive( 'course' )
is returning false in archive-course.php
and native Loop don’t show any course.
More tests are required but I think a plugin should runs smoothly with WordPress paradigma.

After studying LearnPress and other free WordPress LMS in the market, I finally decided to use CoursePress. Its features are the same whether it is the Free and Pro version. Also what I really liked about CoursePress is that it has all the possible options in making quizzes like Short Answer, Long Answer, Selectable, etc. way more than what LearnPress has to offer.

Avoid, I was paying for the premium version ($50 a month) and the support for this plugin is terrible, weeks and sometimes months went by without updates on issues. Needs to be stripped down and completely re-written.

This LMS offers great promise. However, once you get past the excitement of initial configuration and actually start working with course press… it quickly disappoints.
And as you discover things that don’t work, you’ll search their helpdesk and find others have had the same issue… six months ago… twelve months ago… unanswered… unhelpful.
My favorite is the “we’ve recognized a bug and we’ll get back to you when fixed”… and then someone asks, asks, and asks again over months for an update with nothing more than “it’s in our roadmap”. For example: https://premium.wpmudev.org/forums/topic/coursepress-quiz-module-issues
I would rather pay someone $20, $30, $100/mo for a service that works (with courses I can trust will load and work for students) that I don’t have to worry about than so-called “free” plugins that don’t work as promised. (And wpmudev membership isn’t free…)
WPMUDEV is rife with plugins with the same set of issues. The once venerable WPMUDEV has invested more in developing cartoon characters and branding than it does in keeping the tech that it offers in working order…

CoursePress Pro version
Anybody can steal the course just by accessing the URL of videos :
https://www.domain.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/private-course.mp4
I asked the tech support as I am a paying member of WMPU, they just told me it’s not possible to protect the files
However when we sell files with WooCommerce, people cannot access those files if they did not pay for it

As other reviewers have noted, this plugin crashed my website.
Specifically, when this plugin is activated, I immediately get a PHP Fatal Error: maximum memory limit exceeded. The entire site becomes inaccessible. Restoring the site to functionality requires re-naming this plugin’s folder, as that’s the only way to deactivate the plugin when the site is down.
Yes, it’s true, I could change the maximum memory limit allocated to PHP, just to accommodate this plugin. But I’m not going to do that. I shouldn’t have to do that. None of my other plugins require me to do that.
This plugin is a resource hog. Rather than require users to reconfigure their websites, the plugin authors should fix the plugin itself. Well-written plugins are not this resource-intensive.
Note to WPMUDEV staff: I would be willing to reconsider this review if, and only if, you release a streamlined version of this plugin that runs on a stock WordPress system without tweaking the PHP memory allocation. Unless and until you do that, please do not contact me with requests to reconsider this review. Thank you.

The user reviews there isn’t honest. People tested the first versions and gave opinions without giving chances to test the current version of the plugin. Completely free, functional and handmade to meet the highest standards.
I am so grateful to all coursepress team. God bless you all.

It’s a great plugin, when it works. I paid $588/yr for basically the one plugin, and much of the functionality would break with core WP upgrades and even with CP Pro upgrades. I finally let go of my membership for 6 months and it broke again forcing me recently to start paying $49/mo for the privilege of using it,and it immediately broke the CP Pro to where I can’t add or update courses now. I have been trying to get their support to check it out. Chat support while a great addition, couldn’t fix it,so I had to put in a support ticket, and have been waiting 1 week now for a response. I have active courses in the works and 2 new ones I need to complete for specific start dates, but you can’t advertise a course you’re unable to build. As others have said, support is deplorable. Support for this potentially 60 million dollar company is probably undoable because they have about 140 plugins and if they’re all as buggy as this one, they’ll need a hope and a prayer to stay alive.
I gave it two stars because it has the most features of any of the LMS plugins, and great potential, but its complexity is probably its downfall.

Ok, so have deleted my very negative comment, because although i was working with the plugin at the time. I have just found out that it was another plugin installed that although I had not even opened that one had caused the site to crash. So huge apologies for the bad review. I totally take it back and will have another go.. fingers crossed. x

No matter how hard I WANT CoursePress to work, it just fails. Always crashes my site right when it all starts work and comes together to look nice. Just wasted a lot of time and effort. But no more.

Sorry but I didn’t like the plugin at all because no matter what you do in the plugin there will be found a bug. I’ve been trying hard to work with it but … I have to quit coz it’s just a waste of time. The support is rather strange as well because if you want them to see the mistake you have to draw up a professional testers report which is strange since they should have their own testers to find the errors.

Worse course plugin ever. Tons of errors

CoursePress Pro was one of the main reasons I cancelled my WPMUDev membership after tiring of frequent issues with sympathetic but unhelpful support.
CoursePress 1.x was an excellent LMS with good styling out-of-the-box and a lot of important built-in features that other LMS lacked (or required third party integrations), such as essay questions, a nice gradebook, and course forums. CoursePress 2.x removed the lovely accordion curriculum navigation page, which I could live with if the rest of the plugin worked. Thus, my main disappointment stems from poor support and constant issues that I have noticed since both upgrading and clean installing CoursePress 2.x.
After upgrading from 1 to 2, my preexisting students became unable to progress in their courses. When I created a totally new from-scratch site with no other plugins and a default theme, that is, the frequently (albeit impractical) suggested clean install, CoursePress 2.x is still consistently plagued with bugs. For example, currently on my clean install, my course unit modules will sometimes randomly self-delete when I edit them and attempt to save. I have increased memory limits all the way around per the usual canned advice before giving up, having recreated units 3-5 times. I’ve also tried installing and reinstalling WordPress and CoursePress
Support is sympathetic but doesn’t solve problems. They will always tell you that they’ve “reported the issue to developers” but unlike other LMS with dedicated developers, fixes for CoursePress bugs take weeks at best, months if you’re lucky (and your students can afford to wait that long), or never at worst. They will not provide ETAs, leaving you and your students hanging. This is all surely due in part to frequent changes in developers managing the plugin. I’m not even sure how developers are managed and compensated, so they might have little incentive to prioritize fixing issues.
Thus, my advise is to do yourself a favor and get an LMS with a dedicated development team. LearnDash is not as nice and functional out-of-the-box as CoursePress used to be, in my opinion, but it WORKS, they update frequently, and they FIX BUGS. WPMUDev seems to have its hands in too many different plugins these days relative to its development force and thus can no longer support any one of those plugins well, which is unfortunate given how excellent they used to be. I’m only giving this 2 stars because of the potential of this plugin.
I wish I could find a copy of CoursePress 1.x again…

Honestly, this would have to rank as one of the lowest performing plugins I have used. It promises a lot but fails to deliver. From being unable to create a course through to being unable to register an instructor, this plug-in quickly proved itself to be a disappointment.

I have Coursepress pro 2.0.6.1 and it does not save any units, I update to version 2.0.6.2 and it does not let create more than 2 courses and it does not save the units … Also I have Coursepress pro 1.2.6.6 and I update it to 2.0.6.2 and does not allow to create more than two courses but if it saves the units, but it does not let me modify the template … Be consistent with the updates, I see too many bugs.

This theme has many issues.
1. Semantic Category Structure
2. Poorly Written schema class
3. PHP private/static function violations
4. Doesn’t output CPT category / tag title or description in 2.0.5
5. Student Login doesn’t work on upgrade from CoursePress Pro 1.0
5. Poor documentation

Just like with my previous experience with WPMU, product sounds great but execution is horrible. Software very buggy like other products I tried. First it didn’t install correctly. Then I couldn’t proceed past step 1 of creating a course and lastly a very bad formatting problem in the table (one letter per line).
I used to be a member of WPMU. Used to because they over promise and under deliver. Thought I would give them a chance since its free and I want to create a basic course. What could go wrong? Don’t believe the hype and stay clear of their frustrating products.

I am enjoying coursepress very much. It nearly solved all my concerns about creating a LMS.
But I am still not able to know that the plugin I have downloaded is free or I need to pay after some time may be after free trial or something.

was following the demo as posted here and couldn’t get a single course (new) to post without generating a 404. Even viewing the newly made course from within the editor failed.
If you’re going to sell a template, and advertise it through a demo, you may want to add “continuously test the demo” with every release iteration to ensure that it’s relevant.

Just upgraded their latest course press release and it’s not working any more. Tried to get in touch with them but no response. My class starts in less than 20 hours. Now I have to migrate to php 5.6 on a shared server and that means backing up databases and reinstalling EVERYTHING. Talk about the stress these F***ers caused me. I wish I’d never used coursepress. Googled the issue and found out others have similar issues and guess what they have a fix for it but to get that, you have to sign up for their support. Basically pay up $50 per month. WTF. NEVER use them again. I will migrate to some other service. Hate it.

Actually this plugin has the potential to be excessively popular for its awesome functionalities. Thanks to the developers for creating it.
So, what is the one star rating for?
Because it has certain downsides.
1. Plugin authors don’t care to fix the bugs even after reporting repeatedly.
Edit: [18.01.2017] The bug is fixed finally. So upgrading to 3 stars.
2. This plugin is in this free repository only as a marketing strategy, as the free version allows to create only one course. That said, it seems to be a testing version before buying the premium one.
Edit: [16.02.2017] It is now free for unlimited courses, so upgrading to 5 stars.
3. Even who wants to buy the premium version, cannot buy it as a standalone plugin. You need to buy their monthly subscription to get this as a part of the package. So, if you need rice, you need to buy all 200 items they offer in their grocery.

This plugin is such a waste of time, I tried several times to create the courses and the thing freezes all the time, I’d like to move the units between courses and they say it is just impossible! I spent days trying to use this.
My client had the WPMUDEV subscription and I just found everything very poorly designed, asked him to cancel and get a refund.

I was about to install it because it looked great. Then I read about the many limitations (plus hidden catches) and the highly un-competitive price of the Pro version, and I sadly decided to give up on this. CoursePress looked so beautiful and simple, but it costs more than any other fully developed LMS theme out there. I’m giving 3 stars without testing the plugin, there’s no need to do it with all the above hindrances. Why are you guys doing so much harm to yourself?
What I really don’t get is WPMU busines model. It’s not clear if it’s a community of developers you can share knowledge with (you do find their tutorials/forum here and there), or if you pay monthly to get a developer at your service to solve all your WP problems, or if you just pay to get a support on some products that are supposed to have no support because they are marketed solid as rocks. I really don’t understand why WPMU are around. Given their prices, maybe it’s just another web company making loads of buck by exploiting the booming WordPress market. Or it might be a great service for people who has got loads of money (just like those who play Forex because they got money to spare)… But do you really think that people turned to online business if they really had the resources? I mean, who is really your business consultant?
