This plugin works so well I forget we’re using it. We’ve got a few different post templates depending on the content we have, and this plugin makes it easy to choose the right one.
I wish it worked for archive pages too!

I remembered this gem from years ago and took the time to deploy it on a new Divi site I developed, where the GIANT FEATURED IMAGE was driving me crazy. ERGO, I easily created a template by modifying single.php in my child theme folder, activated this plugin and VOILA! It works.

Exactly what it’s supposed to do. Things to keep in mind:
1) Follow the description to create proper templates
2) Read the other notes to properly link up your custom post types or the templates won’t show up! (They should really move this into the description or some where more obvious)

How do you use this plugin with a child theme? It works fine if you use the main theme, but using a child theme I encounter errors.

Works great – WHY isn’t his core?!
For those that don’t know how to use it…
1) Copy a page template (in your template dir) – for example page-full.php and rename it something else such as post-full.php
2) open the php file and at the top where is says…

/*
Template Name: Full Width Page
*/
?>change it to…
<?php
/*
Template Name Posts: Full Width Page
*/
?>3) Open a post and where you normally change a layout for a page – you should have the same drop-down.
