Hi! We own a template that is built using Elementor and the Astra theme. We want to use the plugin’s functions to be able to automatically have the template import the customizer.dat file once activated without the user having to do the manual import himself.

Is there anyway we can do this through the plugin functions?

Steps to reproduce:

• Install Customizer Export/Import 0.9.7.2 on a WordPress site with SSL (https)
• Go to the Plugins page in the dashboard
• Observe the ‘insecure connection’ symbol in your browsers address bar, telling you that ‘parts of this page are insecure’
• Verify that the URL behind ‘The Beaver Builder Team’ is https:// instead of https://

When trying to import a .dat generated by a plugin I get:

File type not allowed

It works fine in version 2.7.0 however 2.7.1 is getting the error

I am hosting my WordPress sites on Pantheon.

When trying to use this importer, I receive an error message:
Import You must have the ability to install plugins to upload an export file. Please contact the site administrator for assistance.

This error does not occur on my dev- branch on Pantheon, but does occur on my test- and live- branches. I believe this is due to the changelog item saying that:

• Restrict uploads to users that can install plugins for better security.

My guess is that this is because Pantheon restricts the ability to download/install plugins on their test- and live- branches, but allows it on the dev- branch. Due to this, this is a bad permission to attach to.

After importing, mine was a zip file from canva, I don’t know where it went and how to make it my website content

I have installed Customizer Export/Import plugin and I can’t find it. I tried to search in dashboard, setting and tools and still I can’t find it. I checked the plugins and it’s already installed.

I get this error too, using version 0.9.6. I tried the proposed solution to remove the leading blank space row, but to no avail.

The export file still starts with an empty line, resulting in the error.

He also provide the solution, (so thanks, taleh1982 !), namely removing the empty line at the start of the export file.
The topic has been marked as resolved, but the solution has not been implemented in the plugin itself.

Really love this plugin, and I am wondering if you are going to update it soon. It is not tested with the latest WordPress Version.

I know this question has been asked before but it’s slightly different this time. All I’m trying to do is import settings from a parent theme to a child theme of the same name with ‘-child’ appended to the name.

I’m getting ‘Error importing settings! The settings you uploaded are not for the current theme.’ The parent theme is Blocksy and the child theme is Blocksy Child (blocksy-child).

The site is on my xampp localhost.

How do I resolve this issue?

Any chance you would consider applying filters to:

' . $theme . '-export.dat'

in class-cei-core.php on line 212 so that we can modify the filename, for example if we just want the export file to be customizer.dat we can filter it. Thanks!

I just installed the plugin through WP and tried to export my settings from the Customizer.
But Chrome blocked the download. They say the file is harmful and if I try to get the file anyway the tell me that the site was hacked and that I should get the file later…
?????
I installed WP yesterday through Siteground, everything fine, and I’m using the theme neve.
Haven’t tried to download the file through another browser because I feel not save to do so.
Any suggestions?
Is it true that there is something hacked or is it just Chrome with over-control?

I exported a WordPress site some time ago. I recently started a new WordPress site at another hosting provider.

I have already installed one plugin. The exported file I want to import has the same plugin also included in the file.

What will happen when I import the file. Will it overwrite the present plugin or is there a choice option?

Is there a way to eliminate the Genesis Settings? I recently used this and it reset the Genesis Settings, and removed the contents of the Header Scripts box. Was wondering if there’s something I can add to Genesis themes before performing this .dat import. We also had some menus get reset. Not sure why but we had to reset some menus too.

I created a custom theme for my site using understrap template.
I exported and imported the .dat file, All working fine except its not automatically importing the static page as Home Page, I had to manually go to the customizer and need to change the pages into static page and need to select manually the home page. But what i need was i just need to import this dat file to add those things automatically

i’m using WordPress 5.7 with Elementor, Jupiter X and WPML up-to-date.
When i try to go on Admin > Appearance > Customize, i found a 500 internal Error blank page.

And here is the log error :

Will you be integrating WP-CLI for export?
WP-CLI already has content export.

This will make life easier for many developers who want to automate the development process.

Does Beaver Builder need to be installed for this plugin to work?

I’ve created a child theme of Hemingway.

I’ve uploaded more than a dozen header images, and made use of the option to randomise them. This is the most important customisation.

On importing the .dat, even with the option to download and import image files, nothing at all seems to change. The child theme is still the generic parent hemingway, with its built in header image.

I was able to import customizer setting but no css added in the additional css tab gets imported. As far as i understood, plugin should be able to import additional css?

Hi Team,

I was able to export the .dat file with this plugin, however, if there is custom css added in the theme customizer, it breaks and nothing gets exported. I am using One Click Demo import plugin to import the options. Any ideas how to fix that?

How can I use “Export / Import”?

I was trying to create an option to upload fonts. Looks fine but found I can not import the fonts to another host.

On your function _sideload_image only images can be imported.

Looks need to add woff2, etc. Can you please help with this?

Maybe adding a hook for theme developers would be a good solution?
