Secured uploads, member download lists… Perfect!

I tried many downloads manager plugin but this one was my favorite because it is so simple and does what it needs to do.
The negative part: The plugin needs a bit upgrade, it needs ReCaptcha and A5hleyRich you should really answer for the plugin related questions. Make a premium version and care about your downloaders I would even pay 30-40$ for a lifetime use if a captcha addon would be available. Take these into consideration, you already made the hard part the rest is not a big deal.

Was working fine, loved the plugin, until we switched on SSL. Then got 403 (forbidden) as mentioned by other reviewers, and asked questions in the forums. No answers. Guess I’ll have to switch to something else. What a shame. Was my favorite plugin – so easy to use, just did what it was supposed to. Adjusting to two stars – if you’re on http, it should be fine. But Google wants us all to go secure.

I use this plugin to manage and track my downloadable files. I just wish it has a more detailed download stats because right now you can only view the the top 5 most popular files. What if I want to see the 100 most popular downloaded files?
But I love this plugin nonetheless! Good job devs! ?? Let me know if you have a premium plugin option; I don’t mind paying for more features! ??

The best I’ve ever seen. I tested 30 different. This one is simple and specific. Minus:
– poor editing ability such as shape, font size, typeface or color etc
– The plugin has not been upgraded.

Looks good and has enough features. Works well on localhost, but when I went live, all downloads are blocked by an Error 403 “Forbidden” message.
I am sure there is a fairly simple solution, but all the forums are full of unanswered questions, including this one.
If the developer wont support his users, then he will lose them. He’s lost this one.

It is easy and works very well.

Seriously my favorite plugin! I don’t know what I’d do without it. Convenient and easy.
I’d also love add-on purchase options for Madmimi integration ??

No image, no category hierarchical list in page with shortcode…
As is isn’t a real download manager, but an attachments manager with log and counter.
I need to make a full download manager with screen, categories, ecc.
This isn’t good for this :/

Great plug-in with all the features I need, and none of the features that tend to bloat similar download manager plug-ins. I like the log of downloads, and the count tracker. The links work really well in my MailChimp emails, my email Opt-in freebies and all over my blog, to consistently track downloads to each file.
Thanks!

Easy to use and no documentation needed, just like a Kinder-egg surprise. However it would be great with a table-view list… for this reason I couldn’t use it but it deserves 5 stars.

This is a very good pluggin! Thank you!

This should be an easy and simple plugin to make your users downloading stuff from your website and keep track of who download and what.
There are some aspects in the settings that are not clear and not so easy to set up, the documentation is poor and there is no support at all in the dedicated forum.
There are plenty of other download plugins to try out there.

Some years ago I used Joomla CMS system with the best document management extension: DocMan created by JoomlaTools.
Switching to WordPress I have tried many document management plugins and I have to admit, the best one is Delightful Downloads created by A5hleyRich!
I have some questions and development proposals to let this plugin the absolute best on the market:
1.)
Clicking on All downloads button I miss the filterable category combo box. We use 3-4 thousand documents on our portal, and it is a bit complicated to list downloadable files from one category: first I have to filter some character from the document name, then click its category to filter.
2.) Add Download button
a) I think that this text (Add Download button) is not included in the translatable .pot file
b) In the insert download window I miss the category and the name filter too.
c) I think a quick upload function would be useful to upload a file to a selected document category and insert link into post sor pages in one step.
d) Another useful function would be (or a payable addon) the customizable insert list button.
(I have subscribed to your mailing list)
3)
Pushing ENTER between [ddownload id=”..”] code blocks, there is no line break int he output, the links or buttons are next to each other.
4)
Replace file: It would be a useful option to phisically delete the previous file from upload directory.
5)
Is there an option to list and delete the uploaded and not linked phisical files? (orphan files)
6)
There is an option in settings / media library: put images in Year/Month subfolders. This option is inherited in Delightful Downloads plugin. It would be better to set this option seperated in media library photos and in your plugins setting window. I think the subfolders is useful in Media Manager, but we dont want to use it with uploaded documents.
7)
Is it possible, that when uploading files with extended latin characters (?üó?úéá?í) in the file names, the upload process changes this alphabets to standard (ouea) characters?
Thanks for your answer in advance!
Sincerely:
Tibor from Hungary

Tried it out, worked great. Waited for info about additional add-ons – even went to the website hoping they’d be there. Nothing. I really would have liked to have gotten the Mailchimp add-on they promised was coming. Had to find something else.

Update: Hey Ashley, you really did a super job on this plugin. Very impressive. Where may I send another donation?
Peace
Andrew
Hey there, thank you for this plugin! Works like a charm and it’s not too much for my simple needs (We offer free downloads at this site). I was able to easily integrate Delightful Downloads with my existing hand-coded links and buttons with two lines of CSS. $$ sent your way – Happy Holidays! P.S., I , too am wondering how to reset to “All Time” counter…

this is the best.

I absolutely love the simplicity of this plugin and I use it all the time.
Although, I wish there was an option to delete individual logs instead of all the logs.

This plugin is very good. I have not bugs and problems.

did not work for me, I click here and there but nothing happens, I see this appears (dedo-shortcode-modal) at the end of each link but nothing else happens.

This was working nicely for quite a long time — months, at least. Suddenly a client is trying to reach me from a conference because clicking a DDL link no longer downloads anything. Except it still works in Safari for OS X.
I do not know if this behavior started with WordPress rev 4.3 or if something on the client’s server changed. In our haste for a fix, any fix, we didn’t have time to debug and just replaced all the DDL links with traditional URLs.

Works really well, plenty of options; great job!

Overall it’s hard to believe this functionality is not more widely available. It’s important to track and monitor downloads and I’ve used this plugin behind a membership plugin (WLM) that was “missing” this important functionality.
I’ve run into a few little problems when deactivating and reactivating the plugin with wiping out some of my settings. But, 4.9 stars wasn’t an option.
I’d buy this plugin if there were an upgrade option!
