Have ACF custom post related to travel. lots of images in various image fields for the trips. Delete post but it did not delete any image.

This plugins looks so sleek but it’s not working on our site. Everytime we try to permanently delete a page it goes to an Internal Server Error.

Any suggestion?

hi, I would like to use this on a site that uses the NextGEN gallery plugin which has hundreds of old galleries and posts to clear out.

The galleries can either be uploaded into directly which are stored in wp-content/gallery/ or added from the main media libray but either way when the post is deleted and purged from the bin it doesn’t remove the images.

Is there a way to get this working as expected please?

We love your plugin but today is caused a catastrophic error, so we deleted it completely.

We had duplicated a product in Woocommerce and then deleted the duplicate product, but before emptying the trash, we deactivated your plugin so as not to delete the product images; that didn’t work and your plugin deleted all of the images on the original product when the duplicate was deleted, even though your plugin was INACTIVE.

This is not a direct support request. We have a site with 200,000 media and over 3000 blog posts. The settings page (admin.php?page=dx-dam-options) is virtually inaccessible because the script is in a seemingly infinite loop. Wouldn’t it be a smarter solution to use a regular cronjob to do this and then cache the results?

I would just like to point out that the plugin (in its current state) does not work properly with so many media. Perhaps in the future there will be a way to support pages with more media?

I filed a user story + MVP proposal to the core media issue tracker:
As a website editor I want to find out which media asset (image, video, etc) is used on which pages / posts

The first reaction and assessment I got there: Idea appreciated, a minimal part of this is probably adequate/realistic in core, but the wider features probably better in a 3rd party plugin.

• Your plugin deals with the same topic, but in a limited/specific scope: It deals with “attached images”. That are images that were directly added to a page/post using the (Classic) Editor.
• My intended scope would be wider: Identify all pages/posts which use a media object by whatever method: Attached image, featured image, first uploaded to media library and later embedded to post, inserted via a gallery, etc.
  And also dealing with the possibility that a media object may be used in several pages/posts. Whereas an attached image is limited to being attached to a single page/post.

MVP would be only an analytical tool (find which media objects are used on which pages/posts), and also there start small. And only later versions would possibly also offer tools to act upon the objects — Remove orphans, remove particular instances, etc.

Please tell me what you think of this!

• Regarding the idea itself ideally directly in the issue (for a wide audience)
• And whether you see chances for extending your plugin or making a new one ideally directly here.
• Whatever / whereever it makes sense to you!

I think I don’t understand how the plugin works. I activated it, including the banner, but afterwards when I go to the DX Delete Attached Media page I can see under the Unused Media option a lot of images that seem to be still there but should have been deleted? 638 pages with images.

It took about 2 hours to delete 328 products and then there was a critical error.

My last backup was unfortunately from 3 hours before, so I will lose 3 hours of work.

Yes, I should have taken your advice to make a backup beforehand ??

Any advice on how to fix it without restoring a backup?

Since I have some ACF fields (type = file) on User (such Resume and Portfolio)
Is it possible to also delete these files when I delete a certain user?

This plugin is just great, so first of all thanks for developing it !

In my opinion, the plugin is missing a small but very useful feature (the main part is already done) : Add a “delete” button in the plugin management.

The plugin already lists unused images, why not add a button to delete them directly ?

It works perfectly for all publications deleted after installing the plugin. The only thing missing is to be able to delete the media of the posts deleted after installation of the plugin for it to be perfect.

Hopefully my proposal will be considered, that would be really great.

Since the 2.0 update I am getting the following error on each page regardless of if logged in or not:

I tried logging out and I got a whole page of errors all starting with “Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by ” and referencing files:

Any ideas? If not, is there a simple way to roll back the update to 1.0.1?

Note – Since logging out I can’t log in again as the wp-admin page doesn’t display – only the errors. As such I went into the database and edited the active_plugins option to disable the plugin for now.

Thanks for this update, looks promising but a bit confusing at this point.

My first tentative to enable it by clicking the “enable” checkbox resulted in a page 404 not found error with this slug: …/wp-admin/admin.php?page=dx-dam-options&paged=1

In fact, what does this “enable” mean exactly? When not checked, images won’t be deleted anymore when a post is removed?

The 2 columns for each image are a bit confusing as I don’t well understand the difference. I also get some images not displaying and the columns returning “image” for them.

Also, it would be nice to be able to set the amount of items/page as the amount we get by default is really very low for large sites.

I’m not sure if it’s due to your plugin or something else, but every now and then my slider images and featured images get deleted

As well as images that I use for ads.

Has anyone else had this issue and is there something you can recommend?

The deleted woocommerce products have not had their images deleted – we now have 7,409 items in the media library – the plug is activated and we are concerned it is not working correctly

The WC products are permanently deleted

Please can you provide us with an email or way of setting up a secure screenshare to resolve this issue

Does this excellent plugin also work the same way for PAGES as it works for POSTS?

I’ve noticed that if I don’t use “Organize my uploads into month- and year-based folders” your plugin doesn’t work correctly. Indeed the media is not anymore in library after post deletion but the file (and the thumbnails) is still physically on the uploads folder.

Is there something you could do to remove totally the files from the folder?

I have deleted a user however it’s not deleting the post or the attachment with it. Like the file, video or picture. Not sure if this is how this plugin works?

I downloaded this plugin and have installed it because I’m going through and deleting old posts and want the images to be deleted to free up disk space etc.

I have permanently deleted a lot of posts already. However, the images are still in the media library.

Is this plugin still active?

Also – although it’s activated, I cannot find it anywhere in the admin area (which is odd).

I am interested in this plugin, but it says it is not tested with WP 4.9.9 or 5. Has it been tested on either version, and is it currently being updated?

I have a News website which has 25,000+ posts and almost 2 to 3 images per post. I have deleted about 1000+ posts a few months ago. But then I realized that images are still there related to those deleted posts.

If I install this plugin, will it delete the images associated with those posts which were permanently deleted prior to installing this plugin?

DataFeedr recommends your plugin. I will be using the images in WooCommerce Product Posts, but also in blog posts. If the Product Post is deleted, will your plugin also delete the image from the blog posts? If so, any way to retain the image in the blog post?

In Woocommerce I was able to get it to delete the images if I used the “Add Media” but if I used the set the product image, it didn’t seem to register that the image had been attached. If I uploaded using add media and then attached it in the product image it worked fine for deleting. Is there a way to get it to just register images uploaded using the product image uploader as images that need to be deleted as well?

Pages with a large amount of images seem to be timing out and displaying a blank page, I never had issues like this in the past.. seems to have started happening on the latest wordpress update.

Deletes All images except 1st one.
Does Anyone have the same issue or only me?

I have 8 image sizes per picture.
For example if I have 9 pictures hence the total number of JPG images will be 72

When I use this pluging and delete the Post hene it deletes ALL images except Picture 1 with all sizes or it will leave 8 images of picture 1 untouched

The plugin is great, but I’m running into a problem… if a post is created and a handful of images are uploaded and inserted into that post, deleting it is no problem. Unless I also create another post or page and use the same image from the media library that was uploaded for the original post. Then, when I delete the original post, it deletes the image and my later post shows a missing image icon. Is there some way the plugin can recognize whether an image is being used by other pages or posts?
