Hi I intend to import a database csv file to wordpress, this file consists of more than 1,000 data, is that possible to create one single post to show these 1000 data in table format?
]]>used example format for importing, got error message that nothing was imported with link to log, but log didn’t exist. Tried using Firefox and Chrome. In Firefox, interim step prompted “Are you sure you want to do this?” but no way to move forward. No interim step in Chrome, no import either.
]]>Hello
I have installed your beautiful plugin. You have made a really grate job and i want to thank you for this.
The problem is that i cannot make it work.
I mean, when it creates the posts, the final step, it takes all the content i have tried (text, images) but not the tokens. Can you please tell me if i am doing something wrong or is this a bug? What can i do to make it work correctly?
I use it on my new site: info.freecalls.pro
Thank you very much
Keep the good work
Please do not ignore the notice that clearly states PHP 5.2 is not suitable for Easy CSV Importer. We are finding a lot of users ignore the notice and proceed to use the plugin.
PHP 5.3 is more reliable and 5.5 has been released with many fixes. WordPress itself has functions for 5.3 which operate better than their depreciated versions for PHP 5.2 so its not all about this plugin.
Right now there are few reasons not to use 5.3 with a new WordPress installation or a WP 3.6 update but if you do have a reason you must not use our plugin.
You may switch PHP versions using hosting control panel. Look for an icon named something like “Configure PHP” or “PHP Config” or “PHP Setup” etc.
]]>Version 7.0.7 will now install a new database table as part of the plugins core functionality. The table will be named ecsvi_datasources and will manage…well sources of data. So if you see that table and your wondering where the hell it came from, now you know.
This means we’re moving towards allowing .csv files to be used outside of the current designated content folder. Oh and it is pretty much required for .xml import so that the source can be located on other domains, a common practice with XML.
This new feature will not be pressed upon current users too quickly. That means despite this post and the table being installed you won’t get benefits from it for a while. We want to avoid complications by taking small steps. You may see the plugin storing data in the table but the data won’t be used. That will be the first phase.
I think thats it.
]]>Just a little insight to what is on our task list for 2013 and I’ll explain why it has something to do with Easy CSV Importer…in a way.
We’ve focused on creating plugins that can be adapted into other plugins easily. This means a menu system, a log system, diagnostics system etc. A lot of things to quickly configure each new plugin and quickly find faults.
So Many Importer Plugins!
For good reason. We provide import solutions to some big customers. Over the years we have created a huge list of requested features. Some are advanced, some are simple, some will almost be projects on their own. So we realized we had two options. Make a single CSV importer that targets a certain type of user, usually that would be the average user. Or we make multiple plugins.
We tried making one plugin that suits all and it gets messy. The interface needs to adapt and be smart. Which is fine. It was fun. But not suitable for WordPress, not until WordPress offers more in the admin and save us from adding bells & whistles ourselves.
Plugin Family Explained
Another Migration Plugin!?
Nothing wrong with more and WebTechGlobal is still young. That means these plugins will be focused on and well supported for a very long time to come. Something that cannot be said by some of the current popular plugins with many unanswered questions in their forums.
As always we have some unique ideas of our own so it won’t really be just another migration plugin. Also I don’t think there is a general migration plugin. Most focus on migrating from a specific source to WordPress database tables. Our plugin, which is already planned in detail. Will help avoid WordPress users getting stuck when it comes to shutting down old sites but wishing to use their data on news ones. It’s about not having years of collected data sitting around doing nothing because other tools aren’t up for the job.
]]>Right now the files for 7.0.4 are uploading to the repository.
Version 7.0.3 was released early this morning and then a critical bug was found which causes a white screen.
Due to the critical nature of the fault the user reporting it has been giving the paid edition free. Please report all faults for a chance to get a reward. We have various options for a reward also.
]]>Just posting an example of the plugins installation screen. We have a technical installation and update system which I would like feedback on. If more users know what they should see on the initial installation, it may make people aware of possible issues we do not know about.
]]>Version 7.0.3 has the ability to delete projects. You will find the button on the same screen used to create projects.
The screen is called “Create Projects” in 7.0.2 but has been renamed due to continued upgrade. 7.0.3 displays a Manage Projects tab.
More will come for this screen so that it makes a quick and easy way to take big actions. Pausing automation in the premium edition of the plugin is one. A button that appears for a specific project when a project has Flags (free and paid edition) is another idea on the task list. When that button is clicked, the projects flags would be listed.
There are more changes for version 7.0.3 which will be released shortly. Just preparing the files now.
]]>I know, I know! It’s Easy CSV Importer.
XML import is a favored approach by many users. Some even want to work with both XML and CSV files within ECI. We have had requests for three years to provide XML import ability in the fashion we offer.
We’ve decided to finally go ahead with it. Starting with some very small baby steps. You’ll see the new XML panel output various test results while I figure out the best approach that fits with our existing plugins way of operating and interface.
Overall it will be simple. One thing I know for sure is that there will be no direct post creation straight from the .xml files. We will do what we do with .csv files and import data to a project database table. That has huge benefits and considering we were the first to offer such an approach we would like to build on it further.
Enjoy!
]]>Hi
I’ve just activated the Easy CSV Importer plugin. I get “ECI Content” and ECI Flags” tabs in the left hand column of the admin, both of which seem to be functioning. However the other tab, “Easy CSV Importer Install” is just linking to a blank screen.
I think I have up to date wordpress and php, so not sure what to try next…
Thanks

]]>A playlist of new tutorial videos have been published to YouTube. It is true most are aimed at the premium edition but even premium edition videos can help you figure out where you want to go in the long term.
We are going to create more videos for the free edition only and some that apply to both. So please give us some thumbs up on the videos you like and let us know if there are any you would like made.
You can send your CSV file and explain your project so that videos use some of your specifications, if you wish.

]]>Recently we posted an example post content design. It was done in CSV 2 POST but it takes the same approach when it comes to creating a template as Easy CSV Importer does.
With ECI being released just 3 weeks back we’re not at this level of support content yet so I thought I would post this link. It is an example rather than a tutorial I think but it does help to get the imagination and creativity going…

]]>We don’t mind discussing the premium edition in this forum and it does not appear to be against www.ads-software.com terms. However we do have our own forum at WebTechGlobal and there are individual forums setup for different discussions about Easy CSV Importer. You find more help from existing posts there.
Registration for our forum is done through WordPress. If you purchased the plugin you may already have a WordPress account with WebTechGlobal. The same login details can be used to access the phpBB forum.
Important Points

]]>No other plugin we know allows users to use any column header as a token for placing data and also allows custom tokens. That is what we aim to provide fully as we do in our other plugin CSV 2 POST.
We would like feedback on this area specifically because it is the only part in development.
Will see the menus for it in ECI right now and that was done simply because the menus are integrated with the data import process. For now we will gradually release updates and let smaller phases of testing commence with the hope of getting it right first time.
What are tokens?
We use phrases like custom tokens or column replacement tokens. They are essentially the same thing when doing their job and they are pasted in our templates. Wherever we paste a token, data will be put instead, during the post creation process.
What are custom tokens?
We have the default column replacement tokens which are made up of your CSV file titles and wrapped with “x” i.e. xMyEXAMPLEx, xpricex, xURLx. This is partly what allows Easy CSV Importer to import any CSV file, whatever the header. The rest of that fact comes from a lot of work on a UI that assumes nothing.
The problem to be dealt with was using the same template design on many projects and the many projects have different headers in CSV files. A rare situation I know but it is one that gets us a lot of appreciation when a solution is giving in CSV 2 POST. So we want a solution in ECI. The solution is custom tokens that we pair CSV file column headers too. So during the post creation process Easy CSV Importer will search for both CSV file headers and the custom tokens.
If a user places custom ones in their template and only custom ones. They plugin simply checks what column in the current project is paired to that column and retrieves the data. Then it replaces the custom token. Much in the same way it would replace the CSV file column header version of the token if that was used.
But remember, we do this so that we can use the same content template in many projects. Giving us the ability to edit a single template and apply it to all of those project.
It’s all still very new as of just a couple of weeks back and we’re building the whole thing up slowly. Probably because it is one of the complex features in what needs to be an “Easy” importer plugin.

]]>We’ve not long uploaded the new build. It’s a whole new plugin focusing on being an easy importer. It was built using the CSV 2 POST plugin core and both plugins will progress alongside each other in terms of the functionality.
CSV 2 POST
This is(another WebTechGlobal plugin) that was designed for unlimited expansion without interfering with existing interface features too much. The interface is busy and some of the advanced feature makes the interface a little confusing for none developers. Actually some developers get stumped because they are so used to the standard importers on WordPress. The core of the plugin holds a lot of ability so it only made sense to use it for Easy CSV Importer.
Easy CSV Importer
The key difference with our new ECI 7.0.0 released in the last 24 hours…is the interface. We’re trying to offer about 80% of the functionality in CSV 2 POST but in an easy fashion. To achieve this we’ll need to use Ajax a lot and update the UI based on options being selected. We’re not there yet but what we have to start with is great.
Continued Development
Both plugins will continue to grow. Where one improves so will the other, in most cases. Much of the growth will be in the premium edition but for every few key improvements we make to our paid version we like to release a little something new for free users.
Existing Premium Users
Remember to get a copy of the full edition from WebTechGlobal and do not update using www.ads-software.com. You may also get a copy of CSV 2 POST’s paid edition to help you establish which plugin suits you best. We provide both plugins for the price of one at this time but it is a short term offer.

]]>Tried updating the Easy CSV Importer in WP admin.
Received message that plugin folder contained no content.
WP deleted plugin, but could not re-install since there was no content to install.
Subsequently went to WP Plugin Repository and downloaded version 6.2.5 of the plugin. When I unzipped it, there was a folder inside. That’s it. No files or subfolders, just a containing folder.
I tried this twice with the same results.
I’m wondering if it’s just something on my end or if there’s something actually wrong with the download file.
Thanks!

4) Has not given me the refund he offered a week ago so am now filing a chargeback with PayPal.
AVOID.

]]>I figured that I would ignore the other reviews that said it was too hard to use, since I am a professional PHP developer, and would be able to figure it out. But, no, no such luck.
The free version looked okay, and I paid the $29.99 for the paid version because the videos looked pretty good. But, it turns out if you actually try to use the software, it has multiple bugs in it.
This is a beta-quality product, and not ready for developer use yet.
I emailed support with questions about use, and logs of PHP errors that exist in the code, and didn’t get a response.
I downloaded https://www.ads-software.com/extend/plugins/csv-importer/ and after I modified my CSV file to match, everything imported perfectly. Custom post types, custom fields, everything.
The CSV-importer is vastly superior to the free and paid “easy-csv-importer-2”.
Note to the author – if you want to write a plugin, and say you offer a consultancy service as part of paying for the advanced version, you need to actually respond to questions.

]]>This is THE most confusing plugin that I have ever used in my 10+ years of using WordPress. While I appreciate your (one) video, your accent makes it really hard to understand you. I can’t seem to find any FAQ section on your website for a simple step by step tutorial to get my CSV imported.
I have spent all day going back and forth trying to get a small CSV file imported and keep having nothing but problems with no explanation as to why. My CSV files are fine, so I don’t know what I am doing wrong and can’t find any type of FAQ to walk me through the process of importing my CSV file.
If you just need to import a CSV file into WordPress and don’t need 100+ extra confusing “bells and whistles” then I would suggest people look elsewhere.
While this might be a great plugin, the documentation is terrible.
I think I just wasted $49

]]>Is there a user guide or instruction manual or anything that says how to use this plugin?
https://www.ads-software.com/extend/plugins/easy-csv-importer-2/
]]>Yes! It sounds great! It’s easy and improved every week! And you can look at this video for the full version! Maybe that has instructions that make sense! But I’m sure it won’t unless you pay for it! And since I can’t make sense of it for free, there’s no way in hell I’m going to pay $40US to not make sense out of it for money.
Suggestion: Try making it work well for free, then better if you pay a reasonable amount. I spent 40 minutes trying to make it work, then decided that’s worth a rating of 1 star. Especially since the main focus of the plugin is selling the upgrade rather than having it work. Feh.
https://www.ads-software.com/extend/plugins/easy-csv-importer-2/
]]>I have tested with the free version, and it is very impressive. For as complex an operation as this plugin is intended (lots of variables and variation), it does it well.
This is the scenario that I have, and I would like to know if the paid version will do it (I might have been able to dig the answer out of the free version, but it wasn’t clearly evident):
– Client will FTP a CSV file to my server (it will contain a member list)
– I would like to import it on a SCHEDULE (say once per hour)
– I would like to UPDATE existing posts for changes (not create new ones) (the csv file WOULD contain a unique key field)
Can this be done with the plugin?
Second question – as an option, instead of creating INDIVIDUAL posts for each line item in the CSV file, can it create ONE post with ALL of the CSV data?
The reason I ask this, is that it might be easier to retrieve one post, versus a few hundred to display the entire member list…
Very nice plugin. Keep the faith and keep it going. There are no others out there that can do what this one does…

]]>Not very intuitive, waste of time.
]]>The author is building a good script, but he needs to stop adding functions and fix the bugs. At this time the script is not even working correctly in automation mode, it does not import automatically as it should. There are many things that don’t work, that should and he keeps adding new functions.
The author does not answer emails and it gets frustrating as a person that spent money on this script and I still don’t have a working copy that I can use in production.
I would suggest waiting a few months before trying this one out, hopefully by then I can repost here and brag about the best CSV importer script I have ever bought, for now save your money.
