I am developing a digital downloadable website on wordpress. Google Drive is used as file storage. The file can be downloaded after checkout.
We can get the download link from the download link button. Or you can get the download path from the source code.
Then we can get the file very easily from the download link. If the person who made the first purchase gives this link to others, they can download the file without payment.
Can we protect digital products from the wrong way downloads by using this plugin?

Thanks for this plugin. It is working correctly for me. But I was wondering if it is possible to customize the text of the “Download” button to where the button will have different text for different files? I saw in the FAQ and saw that you can customize it globally, but I was wondering if you could customize it with different text for different files.
(Also, in case this is relevant, I have almost no knowledge of html. I recently migrated my site from wordpress.com to www.ads-software.com and I don’t really have experience with html, other than a few really simple commands).

]]>Hi guys, I’m really new to wordpress and i’m getting extremely overwhelmed with all the options.
What I am trying to achieve is a website that allows a user the option of selecting a category of service, fill in a form with some specific requirements and upload two images. Then add that to their basket, choose another category and repeat the a-fore mentioned steps or pay.
The user also needs to be able to view a history of everything they have ordered and edit any orders they have set up.
Can EDD accommodate this? or does it provide an add on that can (File upload only seems to allow an upload/form per set of purchases and I need for each item).
Any advice or references will be greatly appriciated, I’m floundering at the moment.
For example if I sold custom print tshirts:
A user selects long sleeved tshirt
They fill in a form with size, colour, quality etc
They upload an image for the from an back
They add to basket
They repeat until they have everything they needs
They checkout

Im a WordPress developed and I found out your plugin, the problem is that you are only linking from media and not using the EDD upload secure system, if you do that your files will have no security and in cases like me, where the user suscribes to access countent is very important,
Imagine people sharing the link to the download of any of my content…
The content must be secure as EDD upload system, creating a link is useless for me…

Recently – and I think this was after an EDD update – I’ve been getting an extra paragraph in each button, right above the text. Apparently, an extra <br> tag is being between the link itself and the text, as follows:

</a>If I remove that <br> tag in my code inspector, the buttons show correctly.
Let me know if this is affecting any other users. Been using this plugin without issue for about a year on another page, but have updated neither EDD or this plugin since then.

I was referred to this plugin by Pippin at EDD because I want users who are already members of a site to be able to download files free, without added measures (as EDD’s own free download addon requires). However, I want the site I am building to use both EDD and their Amazon S3 addon which provides a time limited link for downloads – this prevents clever souls from accessing the site and downloading everything with a download bot. Will this work at the same time as the S3 addon?

I have been using this plugin for a couple of years and it has worked fine. Suddenly it has simply stopped working and I’m stumped. I’m not sure how much more specific I can be than that. It’s as if it’s just not there.
I have the latest version installed and I triple-checked all of the fields in the new downloads I’m adding to make sure that they match the old ones (which work fine). Everything is exactly the same – one file per download; price = free; files present for all downloads.

]]>I have installed “EDD” and “Easy Digital Downloads Free Link” plugins.
I have followed below steps to create a d/l product which happens to be a pdf file.
1. Added New Downloads with title “Adv App” and “Download Files” meta box, I have given file name “ADV APP” and in URL I have inserted the URL copied after uploading the pdf in Media File.
2. I created a New Page and inserted a shortcode generated by EDD by clicking “INSERT DOWNLOAD” button next to Add Media button above editor. (I made sure I am on Text tab and not on Visual Tab while inserting the shortcode).
Now when I am viewing the page, it shows “Checkout” link instead of “Download” button (which is seen on your website). Clicking this Checkout button takes to checkout page of EDD.
Where am I doing wrong.

Our non-profit has been using a modified version of EDD and EDD Free Link on our site for a while now (we are very grateful for its existence).
Recently, I’ve been trying to modify the code of EDD and/or EDD Free Link so that the EDD thumbnail image, when clicked, also opens the file (in addition to the download button itself).

Unfortunately, I’ve found this a bit difficult to implement in PHP.
From what I’ve been able to establish, the following PHP from download_link.php generates the URL to the file: <a href="<?php echo esc_url($download_url); ?>". It works fine when used in download_link.php, but not if I try to implement the code directly into EDD’s shortcode-content-image.php.
I assume there is a prerequisite bit of code to generate the variable $download_url (which I see in `class.EddFreeLinkPlugin.php’), but I’ve yet to figure it out in its entirety.
Any chance the variable to write the URL is easier than I’m making it out to be? I struggle a bit at .PHP; any help would be greatly appreciated.

I’m using the EDD CSV plugin to populate 1000 posts automatically (i.e pages where users can get free downloads). How do I use your free link plugin to replace the current button that requires users go through the checkout process?
specifically; when I upload new files via the CSV plugin, I would like users to just be able to download the file without going through the checkout process.
I originally bought the EDD free download plugin (still active; conflicts with your plugin?) but it still required users to go through the checkout process; which is something I don’t want.
I also used the ‘redirect’ function the someone mentioned in your forum.

]]>I am attempting to use EDD to provide a link to a free download, in conjunction with this extension.
Unfortunately, EDDFL does not support files uploaded directly through EDD, as EDD automatically uploads to the protected ../EDD folder and subfolders. Trying to download the file from the usual, non-encrypted URL pathway results in a 404 error.
While I realize this problem is a limitation of EDD and not EDDFL, would it be possible (in a future release) to add an alternative upload box through EDDFL? (Thus allowing the admin user to choose whether a file is uploaded to the protected ../EDD directory or the standard WordPress media directory).
I know I can hack up the existing code in one way or anther to get around this limitation, but I prefer not to modify either plugin to avoid issues during future updates.

On the site I need all files can be downloaded for free.
I do not need users to register to download files.
I tried these two plugins:

In both cases, users can download files uploaded by the administrator. But users can not download files uploaded by vendors (Role: Shop Vendor)
I noticed that the files published by the administrator have the button with the text that I indicated in easy-digital-downloads-free-link configuration. But the files posted by a Vendor say “FREE – ADD TO CART”
All files are with price = 0 or 0.00
How I can solve this?

I just updated the plugin and I am having difficulties with the free downloads function. When I add the link and test to download it doesn’t, it sends me to a cannot display page. These are the steps that I am following:
1. create a new download
2. upload the document(word doc) from my computer
3. create the link with the tool, direct link
4. Test
I am not sure what I am doing wrong, please help!
