I found this to be a great start on a plugin but needed much more.
1) It needed a progress bar because end users would cancel the upload thinking the system had stalled
2) It needed a captcha because unless you hide the page from search engines it gets spammed multiple times a day on any site with any traffic. Even hiding the page I was getting spam submissions daily.
3) you can only upload one file at a time.
I solved this issue and developed a new plugin I call Real FTP Upload and a description of it can be found here:
I have tested it on several wordpress installs and found no issues. Works perfectly.

This is a good plugin I wish it was still being updated, but it is still working on 3.5.2. I am surprised that no one else has done a plugin like this because it is very useful.

So far this plugin does not work for me.
It’s also discontinued.
Would love to know of a good alternative.
