I’m still getting the missing headers error message? I love this plugin so I’d really like to be able to use it again! Wish the creator had some way of contacting besides this support forum. Doesn’t seem to want to respond to the topics or comments. Disappointing.
]]>After installing the plugin, when attempting to ACTIVATE, I get redirected to a page that says “The plugin does not have a valid header.” What is the resolution?
]]>Great plugin, Chris – thanks for making the effort, I’ve been using it for a couple of years now and it’s much appreciated!
A quick query if I may – when I upload a new ZIP file to upgrade a particular plugin, the new file has a slightly different name (to indicate the version number). Everything works fine, but I’ve noticed the previous ZIP file is left in the Uploads directory. Over time there are lots of these old files, and the Uploads folder is growing larger.
Can I simply delete these old files using FTP? Will it break anything?
Best regards
Paul

Muchas gracias por el plugin.
Al intentar activar el plugin, indica que las cabeceras no son válidas y cancela la activación.
Tengo WordPress 6.0 y PHP 8.0.
Gracias.

What could I do? Thanks!!

]]>Hello Chris,
I’m terribly sorry to bother you, but I hope this is a quick answer for you? I use an old WordPress child theme from Thesis called Derby, which these days is so old it throws a hundred php errors. So when I upgrade to the much newer Derby theme, it gets rid of all the PHP errors (happy days!), but my hundreds of hours of custom changes are all gone. If I use your plugin to upgrade to the new site, will it preserve the majority of my changes, or is there no tool out there that will protect all my changes? Even if I upload my old custom.css file to the new upgraded theme, it still looks nothing like my old site, as the site designers changed so much from the old theme, but they’re now defunct, so not answering support calls anymore.
Thank you SO MUCH for any advice you can give me,
Best Wishes,
Stu
This is an Indispensable Plugin, thank you to the author. I have used it for years. My copy says it has not been updated in a year. When will it be updated?
]]>After many years of needing to use this plugin, it’s functionality has finally been added to core for WordPress 5.5. Cheers!
]]>Hi,
When i upload the newer version of the plugin, i see that the old one stays active.
What is the best practice in this case?
Thank you

]]>Hi,
Will this plugin help me to update GPL plugins without losing the data of the plugin?
Is this plugin fully compatible with PHP 7.4? If not, please consider updating. Thanks!!
]]>Hi all
I’ve installed the plugin on a new wordpress site.
Which is build with divi (don’t know if it’s important).
But the plugin is not visible in the menu.
So i can’t access it.
Somebody has the same problem and how can i fix this?
I’ve deactivated, deleted, … the plugin and reinstalled it.
But with no solution.
Thanks in advance
Kristof
]]>Hello @chrisjean,
Easy Theme and Plugin Upgrades just have some few strings, but it would be great to be able to translate those strings in your plugin. I can translate it to several Spanish locales
To activate the internationalization, GlotPress needs that you explicitly load the text domain if the minimum version required is below 4.6.
Please read the developer article about Loading Text Domain to more details. You can also just update the “Requires at least” in your plugin header comment to 4.6. Please also add a “Tested up to:” meta with the latest WordPress version you tested the plugin (e.g. 5.4.1).
Best regards,
Yordan Soares
This plugin is tested up to WP 5.2.5. Now WP 5.4 is being provided. Is this plugin still maintained?
]]>I would like to translate the few strings of this plugin into spanish, but as you can see at https://translate.www.ads-software.com/projects/wp-plugins/easy-theme-and-plugin-upgrades/
This plugin is not properly prepared for localization (View detailed logs on Slack). If you would like to translate this plugin, please contact the author.
Regards.
]]>I just followed your instructions after installing this plugin to update with the new version of my theme, and it said it installed, I clicked on preview and it took me to a blank screen, and everything I click takes me to a blank screen, I can only go backwards in history to see my dashboard…I cannot do anything. I don’t know what to do, I had no idea this could happen. I’m on wordpress 5.0.1 I think, haven’t updated in a year, can’t update to latest because my theme does not support 5.3.
]]>Hi,
I get the following PHP error every time I update a plugin (not from WordPress repository) using your plugin:
PHP Warning: php_uname() has been disabled for security reasons in /var/www/wptbox/wp-admin/includes/class-pclzip.php on line 5677
Also, this error is reported hundreds of times on each update! I have to scroll all the way down to click the “Activate” button.
Here’s the section of the file’s referenced line:
// --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
// --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
// Function : PclZipUtilTranslateWinPath()
// Description :
// Translate windows path by replacing '\' by '/' and optionally removing
// drive letter.
// Parameters :
// $p_path : path to translate.
// $p_remove_disk_letter : true | false
// Return Values :
// The path translated.
// --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
function PclZipUtilTranslateWinPath($p_path, $p_remove_disk_letter=true)
{
if (stristr(php_uname(), 'windows')) {
// ----- Look for potential disk letter
if (($p_remove_disk_letter) && (($v_position = strpos($p_path, ':')) != false)) {
$p_path = substr($p_path, $v_position+1);
}
// ----- Change potential windows directory separator
if ((strpos($p_path, '\\') > 0) || (substr($p_path, 0,1) == '\\')) {
$p_path = strtr($p_path, '\\', '/');
}
}
return $p_path;
}
// --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Do you know why this happens? It’s quite annoying, could you do something about it?
Thanks.
]]>Hi,

Destination folder already exists. /home/susann1/public_html/novo/wp-content/themes/jevelin/
Theme installation failed.
Can you please help me?
I really need to update this theme.
Thank you!
]]>Hi. Thanks for this awesome plugin.
I’ve been using WP CLI to automate a lot of stuff, and I have this plugin installed and I still get the folder already exist error.
Is there a way to make this work from WP CLI?
Thanks for your help.
]]>I cannot upload new theme or plugin .zip files through the WordPress dashboard. Both ftp and ftps are discouraged by my hosting provider. Thus, I use a third-party tool to use sftp to upload theme and plugin files directly to the appropriate wordpress directory location.
After finding easy-theme-and-plugin-upgrades I installed and activated it. I then uploaded the .zip file of a new plugin upgrade to the plugins directory. But there it sits. Is there something else that needs to be done to “trigger” the upgrade process?
Thanks.

]]>I love most of this plugin, but don’t actually need the backup zip generated and saved to Media. Is there a way to disable that? Alternately, is there a way to have it expire and be deleted after (x) days? We’re finding huge amounts of archived backup files and would rather it be an automated deletion process. Thanks!
