Very briefly: this plugin is well written and the pro version does what it’s supposed to do. But there is no support, even installation support, unless the buyer is willing to pay $36. You can’t even email the plugin author without paying for that privilege.

This plugin is a professional tool and by far the best encyclopedia/glossary/wiki plugin you can get! Features like automatically generated term links, auto-completing search widget, the dynamic letter navigation, the individual encyclopedia naming and so much more convinced me to buy the Pro Version and I’m really happy with it! It’s such a fun to see my encyclopedia growing!

This is a superb plugin which allows you to set up terms in a glossary or encyclopaedia and then automatically generates links within the post on the term or word as a hover (showing a brief definition or excerpt) along with a link to a more in-depth description.
In the case of one of our sites this has saved hours of adding explanatory footnotes on a post-by-post basis. The plugin delivers the same result much more elegantly.
Regrettably this plugin has suffered occasionally in its ratings from the usual freeloaders who never want to pay for anything.
True the free version only permits 5 terms but that should be sufficient to work out if it does what you want it to. If you like its features you can then decide if you want to buy the pro version which is not restricted. The pro-version is not expensive and if you don’t want it don’t buy it but don’t slag the developer off for producing something that some of us need and are willing to pay for.

Words, existing as glossary terms, will be linked on pages, posts and other content types automatically when activated in the plugin settings. That’s a very cool feature. I also like the multilevel syllable navigation very much.

Best glossary plugin I could find here. I have to say that the functionality is quite good: letter navigation, search panel, simple entry management to give some examples. But it’s too bad that only 5 items can be created -> One star deduction

This plugin brings a lot of useful functions like the the possibility to set up whether existing terms are linked, how often and on which pages.
My favorite is the search widget which suggests words depending on what’s typed in the search form.

The multilevel letter navigation as well as the automatically linked terms let the WordPress encyclopedia look like a real Wiki. ??

Hi,
this wordpress plugin is a real professional tool! It’s possible to set up every little count, for example:
You can choose the type of the encyclopedia which is used for the permalink structure or select the content types where existing terms should be linked. Fantastic!

This is a fantastic plugin. It’s scalable, very easy to navigate through the terms and search for terms.

The gallery search widget is amazing! I type in some letters and after a short delay (or no delay – I can set this up) the widget shows all encyclopedia terms containing these letters.

Idea and realization of this plugin are gorgeous!

I use the encyclopedia as glossary on my website and have more than 100 terms in it. No problem for the plug-in. If an existing term appears on a page, post or the glossary itself it’s linked to the glossary entry automatically.Perfect!

This plugin leaves nothing to be desired!

Completely different from other “encyclopedia” plug ins.
This one combines the power of WordPress and post types with the all famous features of the Wikipedia!

The absolutely best feature is the multilevel letter navigation! No other plug in has such a powerful nav.

I’m a German user and I have to complain that most of the plug-in translations in this repository are very bad or almost useless.
This Encyclopedia plug-in was translated very carefully by the author (I guess he’s a German). It’s also fully translatable what is very important for me because I have a multilingual site.

The plugin works perfect. No bugs, no errors, nothing at all. You only can create 5 items in this version – okay – BUT: I think it’s fair to honor and support good work and outstanding software with a small contribution!

This is a scam, plain and simple. This plugin barely works and only exists to trick people into thinking they need the pro version. The reviews for that are as bad as the reviews for this, avoid this publisher like the plague!

The plug-in implements a sidebar widget called “encyclopedia search” which suggest you a glossary term while typing in characters in the search form. It’s very useful for visitors of my site.

I think it’s a must-have if you want to build an encyclopedia in WordPress

The plugin automatically links a term in texts to the existing encylopedia term. It brings a bit of the look and feel of the wikipedia encyclopedia! Cool feature.

Hi,
I bought the encyclopedia pro version because I needed a plugin for building up my own glossary based on an separate post type.
All functions and settings are very well documented on the authors website and the settings page in the WordPress back-end is clean and self-explanatory.
The letter navigation shows a sub-level menu for every additional selected letter and is displayed in the single view too. So you can always see your actual position in the glossary/encyclopedia.
Linking the glossary terms trough all pages and posts is a very useful feature which doesn’t exist in any other plugin I used before.
It is a really powerful and easy-to-use plugin. Five stars!

First I join the other people saying that having only 5 terms for the regular/free version is a (bad) joke.
I have paid for the Pro Version. Some trivial features were not available (like display the excerpt on mouse-over instad of repeating the term). Request/question per email have not been answered. This plugin is a no go.

This is mere listing for their pro version of the plugin. This free lite version is just wastage of time. Even description, screenshots and features are all misleading for Lite version. Must be against the norms of WordPress Plugin directory.

Encyclopedia terms are created and managed like posts and pages. I also can create encyclopedia categories and tags.
There are different encyclopedia widgets for sidebars, for example an encyclopedia term search, an encyclopedia tag cloud, an index list of all encyclopedia terms and so on.
The name for the encyclopedia can be chosen from a range of terms like glossary, knowledge base, dictionary, encyclopedia, …
Thumbs up for the possibility to automatically link terms in texts with existing encyclopedia terms. It brings a bit of the look and feel of the Wikipedia encyclopedia!
It is fun to use this plug-in. Thank you Dennis!
