I am trying to figure out how to change the popup size and background color to be more dark themed. Is there any custom CSS options for this?
]]>Trying a two-in-one post.
LINKS: Recently, I changed my theme, and the Link Styling now seems overwritten with “element { color: #72abbf; }”
When I deselect this in the inspector, I am seeing the color I selected (#73000a). I’ve been fix this since the theme change, and not having much luck.
POPUP: I just started playing with this styling. How would I indicate Google Fonts for header-font-family & body-font-family?
Thanks.
]]>Thanks for a great and useful plugin! I’m experiencing a problem with the plugin converting some word & number combinations to Scripture citations when they ought not be. For example, “Act 1 Eliz. c. 2” is made a link to “Acts chapter 1”. I haven’t found other words that are converted. Any suggestions? Many thanks.
]]>Hi,
It appears that the links created through the app are “dofollow” links if I am correct. Is there any way to make the links “nofollow”?
Thanks,
Jared
Id like to see if we can find a way to disable the plugin from activity in the admin area. I say this because if I go in and visually edit an existing page wherein references already exist, the plugin will automagically add code making them (references) into links (which added code snippets are not visible unless admin editor is switched to “Text Edit”); then, when saving the post, the insertions get saved along with it. The page displays correctly on the front end, with links as links etc, but the pop-ups no longer appear as before the save.
]]>After page loads, it looks correct for about a second, then the page twitches, then my icons and fonts change, to make it stranger, elements of the page reset by just moving the cursor over them (duplicated in IE and Chrome). Could be a conflict with the updates in mb.miniAudioPlayer plugin or update 4.1.1 from WordPress.
Troubleshooting leads me to this plugin, if I disable ESV CrossRef, problem goes away.
Would like to be able to keep this plugin though. At this point I have to leave it disabled.
]]>The website I’m looking after runs entirely in HTTPS. However, because the crossref.min.js file is pulled in from an external source over HTTP, it is blocked by the browser because it is considered insecure and “unsafe”.
I’ve attempted to de-regester and re-register the script with a HTTPS URL in functions.php, but I’m not having any success with that. For the time being, I’ve had to disable the plugin.
Tested with Chrome 40.0.2214.111 (Windows) and Internet Explorer 11.0.9600.17631 (Windows).
Hi, when enabling WordPress debug mode, the following error is being presented on every page:
Strict Standards: call_user_func_array() expects parameter 1 to be a valid callback, non-static method CrossRef::loadScript() should not be called statically in /home/foo/public_html/wp-includes/plugin.php on line 496
For some reason, the plugin is not converting one of the two Scripture references on the main page of my website, dearchristiancounselor.com. Any ideas why it is skipping 2 Cor. 6:14? I’ve tried 2 Cor and II Cor. Doesn’t make any difference.
]]>Please add a close button to the top right corner of the box. If I view on a mobile device, there’s no way to close the pop-up, and keep reading. If I click on another reference to try to close the box, I’m taken to your site. I don’t mind going to your site occasionally, and I want my readers to have that option. But they shouldn’t suddenly be taken there without warning or intention. A simple button to close the pop-up would be very helpful.
Thanks,
chb
Hello, thanks for all your hard work! The dates scattered across my website are showing up as a reference link, however, it then displays the popup that says it cannot be found. Is there a way to have it not use the dates as a reference?
I saw the “esv-ignore” class, but that won’t work for most everywhere, including my events plugin, which displays the event dates. Therefore, I had to deactivate the plugin. Any suggestions on solutions?
Thanks for your time!

The onhover tooltip does not display the verse, just the message: “Sorry, no match could be found for that reference.”
I am also getting this error on your demo page: https://www.esv.org/tools/esv-crossref/
