A good plugin, but it fails to send out registration confirmation email in free version, but I don’t know why.

We got this tool to support a non-profit with their conference and membership needs.
It is difficult to implement – harder than woo-commerce. We bought the professional version and while the support folks have been good about answering questions, it is still a bear usability wise to install and configure. If you plan to get the professional – do not get the decaf to try it. They do not have a good conversion mode in place, you have to hand reset all of the messages. yeah… Also it is not flexible to meet a nonprofit needs. The developers have made decisions and hard coded things that would be better left open ended. I so wish this was better. Still struggling with it too many hours in, and the non-profit cannot afford that. ?? So I am eating the time. Fair warning it is not an easy plugin to use.

I installed event espresso on my staging server on godaddy’s managed wordpress service. I immediately got the following critical error:

“Event Espresso has detected that wp_cron is disabled. It’s important that wp_cron is enabled because Event Espresso depends on wp_cron for critical scheduled tasks.”

Now I can understand an error if I was on some noname hosting provider, however I am on GoDaddy Word Press Managed Services. Have you heard of Godaddy? Yes? Great! So why am I getting a critical error upon installing your software after paying $280??

This wasn’t the only error though. After installing following the instructions to the letter, including wiring up paypal, it failed to product a registration page for an event. This is the latest codebase?? I looked at the page source, the form wasn’t there.

This is a total fail. Don’t blame Godaddy because they bla bla bla. This is your product. It should work on Godaddy. It is completely up to you to fix it so that it does work on godaddy, or find developers who can.
Signed an unhappy customer at 4:24 AM.

I have used the Lite version as well as the paid version in 6 websites. There is nothing that can compare with this plugin … it does some amazing things. When it works, it works well. Payment gateways work well, lots of flexibility with notifications and tracks registrations well.

My main problem is that it is very fragile and often breaks when you update to new versions. I have a rule never to update during event registrations, because you could loose all of your data, or you may find users can’t sign up all of a sudden!

The creators of this plugin have also come out with a new version so its doubtful this will receive much more support than the little it did receive.

I installed this plugin and it worked as advertised. I moved forward with it and bought a personal license. After that license expires you can no longer see the user forums. The free documentation sucks! You will not be able to make any customizations without use of the support forums. Who wants to pay $100 just to get some trivial answer to problems like “how do I change the text that says register on the submit button to instead read purchase”. Ohh and any plugin upgrades you make will wipe those changes out.

Currently my plugin is throwing an error message. You can see that someone has responded on the forum to a user with my exact problem. However you cannot see the solution without paying another $100. It really irritates the hell out of me. Therefore I recommend that you should not move forward with this plugin unless you are fine with paying each year to read forums.

It is a nice plugin, does what it supposed to do. But on our first day of install we got 9 fake subscriptions to an upcoming event! We had to go back to eventbrite ??

I have developed more than 100 sites and used more than 100 plugins, this is, by far, the worse plugin ever.

1) Very bad customer service
2) No translation possibilities (not compatible with WPML, .poedit, or anything else)
3) Whenever they release an update it creates more bugs than it fixes
4) The security for the event registration is inexistant
5) If you sell multi tickets, you can’t have questions only for specific tickets. So for example, if you sell tickets for a golf tournament, a breakfast and a dinner, you need to ask what they would like for dinner for the 3 tickets!!
6) It is ridiculously priced!
7) You need to contact customer service after purchasing the 200$ license before you can download it.

It’s been a nightmare ever since I started using this plugin. Stay away, use woocommerce, another event plugin or have something developped but don’t pay 1$ for this. You will only lose your time.

This plugin is absolutely terrible. It has caused me so much grief with major privacy, security, registration, uploading of classes problems.

I would not recommend this at all for a business with many events.

I purchased the paid version of this plugin for a clients project. I took a gamble buying this plugin and it was worth every penny. I found the software to be well though out and easy to use.

I had to contact support after I launched the site since the url changed, that had my concern resolved in a matter of minutes from my forum post.

I am an advanced user/developer and don’t read instructions or look for help until I break it lol… Since the software installed, configured, and tested without any problems on the first try, I have no complaints at all.

I’ve been using Event Espresso for a couple of years and it just keeps getting better and better! Now that it integrates with our Infusionsoft account, it’s made my life so much easier. I’m not a technical person but between the forum and their support system, I’m able to make all the changes I need. We’re a small company and don’t have the resources to have high end tools. This plugin gives me so much flexibility without the high price tag. I also appreciate how they’re always working on the tool to keep improving it. Love it!

It was hugely disappointing to spend the time to install EE, add events and then realize that it allows people to “register” without completing payment. I think it goes without saying that anyone would expect a “most comprehensive” event management plugin to integrate with payment. NOT to have the expectation that you would have to continually follow up with people to determine if they intentionally abandoned the registration process or are simply confused that they received a confirmation message (thus payment unnecessary).

This plugin is not worth the confusion and upset it can create with event attendees. Instead of touting “most comprehensive,” this plugin would be better served by telling users that it is best used for free events.

Like others, I would consider upgrading if a clear answer could be provided. I logged in and searched the forum but if anyone asks about this required payment problem the answer is blocked (you must buy the premium plugin to see their answers). That’s not encouraging.

I would love to see an event management plugin developed that fully integrates payment – like how eventbrite works.

I have used this on a few themes for a customer who has a new events listings site. mainly through my old lack of knowledge (not any fault with the software) I needed some support. These guys always come back quickly and effectively. within a few hours. That’s really rare in today’s digital software world!

First and foremost, this is a great plugin. The paid version is top notch, but it comes with a catch. It has a lot of great features and offer a paid support plan. However, if you opt not to get the support plan they try to make the most trivial things more difficult for you. For example, if you do not purchase the support plan they do not allow you to update the plugin directly from WordPress. You have to go to their site, download the plugin and then manually upload via FTP. It sounds simple enough, but this plugin is constantly being updated so it is very easy to get 304 updates behind. Just one of the inconveniences they impose on you after you have already paid for their product.

I just recently purchased the Personal License and I had some issues with the install. I sent an email with my concerns and received a response within hours. It was an unusual situation and they offered to do the install for me – without charging me. I was incredibly impressed by that. I had another issue where I put the site license key on the wrong website – I wrote them and explained what I had done – it was my error – and in less than an an hour they responded to me and reset the site license for no additional charge. I expected to be charged in both situations and was pleasantly surprised with their responsiveness and generosity in helping me out. Service is everything! Well done Event Espresso!

When I upgraded my website to a Word Press site, I needed an event registration product of some kind. I spent a lot of time investigating my options. I narrowed it down to two. Event Espresso being one of the two. After digging into the product deeper, I chose Event Espresso. I am not a website builder, but I hack around and eventually get things done. Without out a doubt I made a good decision going with Event Espresso. Spent the money to get the premium support. You won’t be disappointed. The only reason I gave them 4 out of 5 stars is because they don’t offer telephone support. Even without telephone support, the support team is very responsive to questions and very helpful!!!

Worthless in my opinion. You are not able to configure much of anything without paying for a full version. Save your time and look elsewhere.

Recently I used Event Espresso Lite to set up an event for a charity fund-raiser. I fully expected fewer features, but was disappointed that the features that were included did not work as expected, and was particularly frustrated with broken or deficient functionality when clicking links in the emails sent from the website by the plugin, and a limit of 50 records on an event’s attendee list (a bug, I think).

As I said, the Pro version works great. Looks like there’s not too much pride embodied in the Lite version though!

I tried a number of other event registration / event management tools and none of them had the registration flexibility I needed. Another thing I like is that I took their user survey and got a personal response a few days later addressing each feedback point I made. That’s a nice touch. There are a few things I’d like to see added, but all in all it’s a pretty mature product that does exactly what I need it to do. Great job guys/gals.

While trying to set up a new site to handle event registrations and payments I tested a few other potential plugins before this one. It was such a relief to find that this one worked intuitively, was easy to set up and works with minimal effort. It also looks good in my theme with zero CSS alterations. Thanks for making my life easier!

I freakin’ love this plugin. I did a test drive of the lite version along with 6 other event registration plugins (some free, some premium). EE stood out as the clear winner of the freebies. So i invested in the premium version. Worth every penny! It does things I never even thought to inquire about – things that save me precious time, like talking to my membership plugin. Score!

I especially appreciated the “Known Plugin Conflicts” list. That saved me a ton of time. Why don’t more plugins provide that info?

For the haters who are trashing this plugin, let me just say… free hosting? Really?? You get what you pay for. If you truly care about your business or cause, invest a few bucks in a REAL hosting plan. If you’re living in “borrowed” space you have no control. The problem is your hosting, not EE.

It took me a little while to test and get everything working/configured as needed but it’s all done now, working perfectly and provides everything my client was looking for.

When I needed technical support to work out a theme conflict issue their technical support staff was quick to respond, lend a helping hand and get the issue resolved expeditiously.

When I found a minor bug they immediately jumped on it and issued a hot fix the same evening. Talk about CUSTOMER SUPPORT!

I wish everyone was as responsive as these guys are. Absolute Kudos to the whole Event Espresso team.

The database installation expects mySQL, which means it won’t install when the site uses PostgreSQL.

We have spent a lot of $ and a lot of time trying to do exactly what this plugin does for $90… It would have paid for itself in 2 hours of work. I wish I would have found it faster!

If you have a wordpress site and need to manage any kind of event, check it out!

Uploaded the plugin, logged onto wordpress site, activate plugin, web site hung.

Almost immediately got an email from the free host site complaining about the following slow SQL: “MySQL Query: select * from information_schema.tables where table_name = \\\’wp_events_attendee_cost\\\’ limit 1”

Deleted everything from the site. Re uploaded everything from scratch (WordPress & etc.). Tried to activate the plugin again – browser hung – more irate emails from host, etc, etc, etc.
