Since switching to this as recommended, the picture is no longer being displayed with a link on Twitter. Summary with large image is selected. Posts and pages are enabled as post types. Log for Twitter log validator is below:

    INFO: Page fetched successfully
    INFO: 21 metatags were found
    INFO: twitter:card = summary_large_image tag found
ERROR: Required meta tag missing (twitter:text:title)

    Two days and no response?

Sorry @bwyatt11 – I never received email notification about this support topic (maybe is went to spam) and I’m here by chance.

According to the Twitter validator, you’re missing the title. Run the URL through here: https://cards-dev.twitter.com/validator to check for yourself.

Can you confirm you’ve actually set a title and description for that page? You should have all the fields filled in, something like this: https://i.imgur.com/ARLnKAI.png

I suspect Twitter won’t use the open graph tags if the title is missing.

Yes. Confirming title and description have been set. It works fine on FaceBook and it appears to be working on twitter for article posts, but still not with pages.

Cheers. This will be difficult to troubleshoot, but my best guess at this time is a theme or plugin conflict.

Ideally you could switch to a different theme momentarily and see if the open graph tags suddenly become populated in the code, and if they do, then the theme is getting in the way. Also ideally disable plugins one at a time until open graph tags suddenly become populated. But I understand this might be too much hassle.

What is the name of your theme? If I can get my hands on a copy of it I might be able to replicate the issue.

I’m using the “Extra” theme by Elegant Themes. Your previous plugin that you are no longer supporting worked perfectly.

Cheers. I’m looking into this today. Hopefully it’s just some minor compatibility issue with Elegant Themes I might be able to easily solve.

    Stay tuned.

Update: Even with that theme, and messing with all the settings, I still can’t replicate the issue.

So based on a possible theory I came up with I’ve added a new troubleshooting option to the plugin which might help. If you’d like to try it, you can download the updated version of the plugin here.

    Instructions:

    • Deactivate and delete the existing Open Graphite plugin.
    • Upload the new plugin you downloaded (Plugins -> Add new -> Upload plugin
    • Activate the plugin
    • Go to the plugins settings (Troubleshooting) and try both of the first two methods.

I make no guarantees this will work because I can’t see the fault to begin with. The new setting simply changes the output order of the open graph tags to occur either before or after the themes wp_head() call, in an effort to not have your theme functions hijack the plugin output.

If you try this and it works for you, let me know and I will push the update to the plugin.

Anyone else is welcome to try this if you’re having the same issue.

    Cheers.

Well, it fixed the page issue. All pages are showing up fine now. However, some posts are now having an issue. Most recent 4 posts are not pulling the image. Older ones are. I tried on both low priority and high priority. Same results.

This appears to be an issue with Twitter now. I just checked through Twitter’s card validator and it shows up fine.

    INFO: Page fetched successfully
    INFO: 21 metatags were found
    INFO: twitter:card = summary_large_image tag found
    INFO: Card loaded successfully

Cheers. I’ve added the new troubleshooting section to the plugin, and also fixed another issue (which may or may not be related to your issue). Update the plugin in the usual way through the WordPress admin interface and see what happens now.

PS: Cheers for sticking with this process. I feel like I’m flying blind, but one way or another I hope we can resolve it. I imagine a lot of people are using Elegant themes.

No change here. Still experiencing the problem.

    Cheers.

I think I’m going to have to tap out. Going forward it’d pretty much impossible to diagnose without having admin access to the website, which I understandably don’t expect to be given.

I do appreciate you sticking with this support thread while we worked towards a solution, I just wish it could have been resolved.

I’m going to keep an eye on this issue anyway. If I can see it happening for myself on a site I manage (or one I’ve been given access to) I should be able to identify the cause, at which time I’ll deploy an update.

Thanks a bunch and good luck.

Appreciate you looking into it. I understand making a plugin functional with all themes is impossible. Thanks for checking on this one.

As an afterthought. This problem arose when I uninstalled the other plugin you no longer support and installed this one. Whatever the issue is, it’s in the change between the two plugins. The old one worked perfectly for me.
