I like your plugin. Perfect dictionary or glossary. Easy to set up and works out of the box no glitch nor hitch! I am running Wp 4.5 with the sydney theme.
One small comment for maybe an upgrade: If you could include css options for the actual dictionary page, would make the page more readable.
Thanks for the great work! will have to take a look at your website.

thanks a lot

Amazing. Just what I was looking for. Nice options too. THanks for this.

It has a lot of options, but the terms list on the glossary page is clumped up. The Custom Alphabet is a great feature! Terms overlap on top of each other, if images are included.

I love this plugin. My wish-list for improvements would be to add the instructions for “[no-explanation][/no-explanation] tags” to the settings somewhere, so I don’t have to come searching for it here each time I need it.

I installed this plugin recently on my WP site. Everything is perfect except a little bug with WP native paragraph tag (the plugin’s code mixes with the paragraph code on every post, thus the first paragraph HTML code is visible for the readers. I hope a solution or hack will be found soon.
Suggestion: in the page where the dictionary is displaying (with A, B, C, D…) it woul be great to have the possibility to separate the terms starting with the same letter by the letter. Example
A
– abracadabra
– acradabadra
B
– baobab
– best in class
Etc
Thanks for your work. I hope there will be new functions added (customization and styling, importing and exporting csv dictionaries, etc.)

I have a number of Parish Church websites, and am using it for explanation of specific ecclesiastical terms that not everyone is familiar with. I am looking forward to the development of this plugin to support a little more styling, such as Bold, Italic, and quote marks in the definition.
Numbers of people have advised me that they find the glossary page itself a great resource. Whilst that may be content related, it is the plugin that has made the task of presenting the information easy.

The new version was a big change a a bit of a speed hump, however I am really really very very happy now I have understood what it makes possible, I can now add small images to the definition and they display nicely on the glossary page and in the mouse over tool tips. Well Done.

I am using this as a glossary on a website I use for teaching. I use the Prose theme for Genesis. It works pretty well, although it clashed with the Design Settings function of Prose. When I clicked ‘update settings’ all changes simply reset to the default. Once I disabled it I was able to make all my changes and then reactivate it without any problems. It doesn’t seem to support Japanese characters which limits its usefulness for me. Nice little plugin though.

I am working on a very technical website and this was a great time-saving solution!

I just installed it and started and using it; so far I like it very much.
Thank you ??
PS: Having a glossary item that is at the same time a link is tricky. I haven’t yet found a solution for that.

It’ s easy to change the look of the tooltip and even more to create a glossary page, new terms etc.

After trying a half dozen other plug-ins for pop-up text, I finally happened upon Explanatory Dictionary. It’s brilliant! Easy to use, yet powerful. You don’t have to embed short codes where you want your pop-up boxes; just define your terms or phrases, and the plug-in does the rest.
More importantly, the pop-ups work even within other JS plug-ins like TablePress.
Great job!

Thanks for your effort. I just miss two little things (I wrote it in the support section), that’s why I gave 4 stars only.
