]]>Hi, I’m very happy with ezpz as a backup tool for restoring my site.
However i hoped i could use it also for cloning my wordpress installation to another server, specifically to create a local copy of my site.
With my big surprise i discovered that wherever I run the restore tool, the original site itself get restored; it doesn’t create a local copy of the website.
Am i missing something or simply there isn’t this feature?
If it’s like this I suggest you to write in pretty big letters that running the restore tool will restore the main site and not create a copy of it! I had almost an infarction when i noticed that my original site was beign cancelled and rewritten!!

]]>Since the major update of EZPZ it no longer works with wordpress on any of the websites I maintain. On the initial install/reinstall once the schedule is set a row of script errors appear at the top.
The background backup never completes.
The manual backup completes but won’t connect to the FTP Server.
Schedules never run.
Changing the random folder creates a script error.
The script errors seem to be ‘file not found’ errors for other scripts or to the backup folder.
Most of my wordpress installs are in subfolders, this could be the problem, but EZPZ worked ok before the upgrades.

]]>Hi all,
I’m having some security issues, and I’m wondering if they could possibly be tied to this plugin?
I really, truly, do not want to start any rumors. So don’t take my word that there’s a problem. I could be wrong. I’m just trying to find out if there is any validity to my worries and possibly warn others if there are.
Now that the disclaimer is out of the way, here’s what happened:
I had EZPZ OCB (among other plugins) on several of my sites that got hacked (they redirect to a .ru website with malware). I had to shut down/reinstall/redo *all* of my websites because the backups from this plugin didn’t work – none of them.
My understanding was the hack happened because of a security breach with one of the versions of WP, then they released the update, etc.
Anyway, several tears later…
I had a fresh install of WP and BP on this site I’ve been working on, and I’ve spent the last few weeks setting it up, tweaking things. You know the drill. Hours upon hours upon hours of work. (I was *just* about to launch this to my local community and was doing some final optimization.)
Here’s the thing.
I installed this plugin again after trying out another one that seemed to slow down my site too much per P3 (Plugin Performance Profiler). I activated it and ran the manual backup. It sat there for several minutes (I watched the timer), but nothing happened.
Ran P3 again, site was actually a little bit slower, and this was the biggest cause (as was the other, now deactivated plugin). I decided to test out my website for myself to see if it felt slow to me.
When I went to my homepage, it reloaded very slowly and basically with no theme. This is exactly what happened to me when I got hacked before. So I knew.
I ran a Sucuri Site Check (https://sitecheck.sucuri.net/scanner/). It scanned a cache of the website from 2 days ago… clean. When I deleted the cache files from my site and rescanned, it came up as infected.
:'(
There are only a couple of plugins I have been playing with in those past two days, and this is one of them. I have shared hosting, and now two other sites, which were also clean installs, are infected as well.
It might not have anything to do with this plugin. I honestly don’t know enough to be sure.
But I find it odd that this happened as *soon* as I used it. And it is a common thread (along with a few other plugins) that runs through my other hacked websites.
Opinions? Any thoughts would be appreciated.
I would also be eternally grateful for any security plugin recommendations, as the one I had clearly didn’t work (or I used it incorrectly, which is always possible).
Thanks in advance for your help.

]]>I installed EZPZ on one of my wordpress sites yesturday. No problems, was able to create a backup.
Today, I installed it on another one of my sites, and its doing all kinds of weird and funky stuff and it won’t let me run a backup.
Here’s a list:
1) If I go to the EZPZ dashboard, it is displaying a copy of my home page IN THE DASHBOARD. What the…?
2) none of the “one click backup” buttons are available. All are greyed out.
3) My wordpress dashboard menu on the left is all funky looking, though it does respond. Its only funky when viewing the EZPZ dashboard screen. If I go to any other dashboard page, the menu looks normal.
4) When I first installed EZPZ on this site, I didn’t know what was going on so I forced it to abort a backup. Now it says it won’t run another until after 20min from the last run (even though I aborted). Uninstalling EZPZ and re-installing made no difference to this. Reseting EZPZ made no difference. THis is supoer annoying as I need to create a backup of the site RIGHT NOW.

]]>In January I updated the plugin to whatever version became available about that time. I noticed that the size of my backups dropped significantly, from about 60MB to about 700KB. It seems there used to be a file named content.zip contained within the EZPZ_RESTORATION_FILES folder, but that file is no longer appearing in the backups. Content.zip appears to contain all the non-database content for the site. Even after this latest update (12.02.07) my backups still do not include a content.zip file. Whether such a file should still be created, I’m not 100% sure – however, the total size of my backups remains about 700KB so I can only assume a large amount of data is missing. This plugin has a well-planned interface, and the incremental progress indicators are a nice touch. But functionality over form is key for a utility such as this.
