Causes 500 error on the site due to a fatal error. Needs an update for PHP7

The new WP broke the FB app so it needs to be updated to keep working?

Dead project, no PHP 7 support. I’d suggest not using this plugin since it doesn’t receive any support at all.

This plugin doesn’t work with PHP 7, the following error is thrown:
]]>Fatal error: ‘break’ not in the ‘loop’ or ‘switch’ context in D:\www\example.com\www\wp-content\plugins\facebook\social-plugins\widgets\like-box.php on line 84

down my site when it activate.
no wordpress warning, JUST DOWN.
FastCGI: server “/usr/sbin/php-fpm7.1” stderr: PHP message: PHP Fatal error: ‘break’ not in the ‘loop’ or ‘switch’ context in /wp-content/plugins/facebook/social-plugins/widgets/like-box.php on line 84

Just discovered it breaks wordpress admin and frontend under PHP 7.0 / nginx.
Internal Server Error 500.
Nice! Fantasctic social plugin that kills your wordpress site just by activating it.
Uncompetent developer used break operator without any loop, simply inside try catch statement,
/social-plugins/widgets/like-box.php
line 84:
try {
$page_info = Facebook_WP_Extend::graph_api_with_app_access_token( ‘/fql’, ‘GET’, array( ‘q’ => ‘SELECT page_url FROM page WHERE ‘ . $where ) );
} catch ( WP_FacebookApiException $e ) {
break;
}
This is shown as syntax error in any normal IDE (I use PHPStorm 2016.2).
Simple commenting this line saves wordpress!
// break;
The problem reported 5 months ago and no any response. Shame!

As soon as you activate this plugin, your website is dead. Only way to get it back up and running is to remove the plugin from your hosing using FTP or an online File Manager.

Revisited this plugin two years later, cause 200,000 installs. Breaks site with php7. Don’t even bother.

I needed to remove the plugin to get the site back up and running. Does not work on PHP7 without making direct changes to the plugin. Yuck.
1 star only for lack of an option for 0.

This is a very exciting plugin. It crashed my site AND my admin panel/dashboard. I had to delete the wp-content/plugins/facebook directory to even be able to open wp-admin. Ha ha.

Fix for PHP7 when the site is crashed is
Remove break;
on line 84 of like-box.php
and then – uninstall this outdated plugin and look for a replacement.

This plugin made my site crash. When I tried to access it after activation everything just went blank. I can’t even go to the admin page.
I didn’t read the comments before and figured the official Facebook plugin can’t be this bad… it’s worse than 1 star.

For whatever reason it made my site crash and I had to remove it through my https://FTP.. Please do not install it.

The instructions and those leaving 5 star reviews made it sound great and easy to install. I spent an hour and couldn’t get it to work at all. Ugh!

I’m not sure why this is getting so many poor reviews, but I haven’t had any problems with this plugin. It is quick to setup. All you have to do is create a custom application in Facebook for your website, which literally takes perhaps 10 seconds to do, and copy/paste the ID and App Secret to the text fields in the plugin.
This plugin will allow you to replace your custom WordPress comments area with a Facebook Comments Box. Note that there is a separate plugin for this that is simply called “Facebook Comments” – do NOT use that other one because it is a greatly stripped down version of this plugin, and if you use a comments counter in your WordPress theme, it will not recognize comment counts with the other plugin.
This plugin also lets you add Facebook share & follow icons with ample customization options.
The main point of this plugin, in my opinion, is for replacement of the generic Facebook comments area, which is and always was horrible.
