What I like:
– just plain and clean backend implementation, no sample galleries etc.
– hook to define which post types can have Media Gallery
– hooks to define context and priority for the meta box on admin UI
– strings are translatable (just missing .pot file)
– the UI is consistent with WP backend UI
– simple documentation on the plugin page
What I miss:
– .pot file (I might contribute soon ?? )

The plugin is quite handy, although it isnt’ a drop in enhancement, and does require some coding from the user, if you are making your own theme it’s fantastic.
I could easily see this as being a fantastic drop in as well, by implementing some kind of carousel or similar and overriding the get_the_post_thumbnail() function in core with one of it’s filters to output a gallery instead of an image to allow even more people to enjoy this functionality.

I’ve been using Featured Galleries for a while, and it works like a charm. But two things could have been improved:
1_ Plugin gets the full size images when you finalize and save your gallery in the backend.
2_ It would be nice if we could be able to somehow change the location of the gallery widget in the admin panel.
Still, simple and does what it says.
