Hi. There is an active vulnerability in this plugin, that’s why it has been removed temporarily. See https://www.wordfence.com/threat-intel/vulnerabilities/wordpress-plugins/file-away/file-away-39901-authenticated-contributor-stored-cross-site-scripting-via-shortcode
I just wonder if I can help? I’m a developer myself. This is a useful plugin. Let me know.
We have been using File Away for Audio Archives for many years. I’m curious. Has anyone ever found a way to apply a manual sort OR (probably better) to get File Away to be able to see the modified date of the folders so I can sort by that? By Default, our tables sort the files by Title first, and then I use the ‘*’ character to force the files to sort by mod-desc. The folders are in the structure <Year>/<Month>/Filename.mp3. So, the Years sort just fine , but sorting the Month labels (Easier for guests to navigate than month Numbers) is not possible. But File Away doesn’t fill in the “modified” column when you’re looking at a listing of folders, and that is the primary problem. If it showed dates on the folders, then I’d be able to sort by created or modded and it would work 99% of the time.
I have a lot of folders on my directories and if I try to search for a file I can only see the files on that active folder, but I need to perform a search on all the folders. Can you help me?
]]>It looks like File-Away may not be updated in the future. This is an incredibly useful program that I use all over my websites. I am willing to pay for this plug-in if someone is willing to update it. I’m concerned about it losing functionality with each new version of PHP.
That said, is anyone aware of a similar plug-in that has the same functionality? I pretty much need to have the ability for people to download several PDFS from a non-profit site. Any help appreciated!
]]>I have found that with PHP 8+ on a windows server the lightbox functionality is broken. Is there a fix for this?
Love this plugin! Hope we can have an update or fix to this!
]]>Hi love your plugin!
Do you think there will be an update to address this issue.
Thanks!
Error in red text shows when I try to upload = Sorry about that, but “file name” could not be uploaded.
]]>Thom, this is NOT a support request per se. Rather, it is to share some recent, relevant operational environment information and perhaps provide some encouragement.
I installed File Away for performing tightly-controlled file uploads on a Dreamhost WordPress 5.9.3 website using the Twenty Sixteen template and PHP 7.4.15, and it continues to work flawlessly. After throwing some well-deserved money in Thom’s direction seven years ago, I wrote a review of his wonderfully useful and powerful plugin, and I just wanted to let folks know that it still exhibits full functionality on my Dreamhost installation.
Now, I just tried FA version 3.9.9.0.1 on one of my Windows 11 XAMPP localhost projects running WordPress 5.9.3, PHP 8.1.5, and the Twenty Twenty-Two theme, and as reported by others, FA does NOT work. I presume that there are some File Away/PHP 8.x incompatibilities.
Nonetheless, I decided to do a little experimenting, and I have determined that it’s not as hopeless as it may seem, at least for file management (and perhaps other) purposes! I discovered that the incredibly handy FA shortcode creator that File Away adds to the Tiny MCE editor does NOT, in fact work: nothing happens when the FA button is pressed. Bummer. However, I manually created a File Away shortcode based on the syntax of one of the FA uploaders on my aforementioned Dreamhost site, pasted it into a shortcode block on my localhost WordPress page, and FA worked as expected. Perhaps the only issue with FA is that the shortcode creator needs a little love in order to work in a PHP 8.x environment.
So, Thom, maybe I’m overly naive or just plain wrong, but perhaps it might not in fact be too difficult to position FA for the PHP 8.x world (easy for me to say, eh?) Admittedly, I just experimented with the file manipulation functionality, so who knows, maybe it’s not as “simple” as I imply.
For all us File Away lovers the Select Tutorial pick box under the Tutorials tab provides access to THE definitive listing of all the File Away shortcodes and attributes, so it would seem that for the PHP 8.x environment we can manually construct our own FA shortcodes and insert them as described above. And, manually styling File Away is simply not a huge deal.
Thom, I’m going to keep my fingers crossed for a File Away version 4.0! It’s a shame that people just don’t seem to understand how amazingly useful and powerful your plugin is.
]]>I don’t knoe why but the plugin was working fine, and now when I click on the folders they simply don’t open anymore, is there something I could do or the plugin definitely died.
]]>In class.fileaway_csv.php, we found 5 uses of an array still using curly braces. This no longer works, starting with PHP 8.x.
Basic example:
You had $ch = $data{$i}; but it now needs to be $ch = $data[$i];
You may want to make sure that all instances of curly braces for array (and even string) indexes are changed to the square brackets or it will affect everyone on the latest versions of PHP.
Thanks!
]]>Hi, I’m trying to put a table, either simple or more complex, for example this one: [stataway type=”table”] and it shows me the following message: Fatal error: Array and string offset access syntax with curly braces is no longer supported in /homepages/33/d847311850/htdocs/clickandbuilds/Portal/wp-content/plugins/file-away/lib/cls/class.fileaway_csv.php on line 238
Can someone tell me why this is happening, thanks
Is possible upload one file or create one directory, and make only access for one user with same name of file or directory?
Imagine for 100 users.

]]>Hi, anyone used this plugin with a calendar layout, as the dates will be the download link for the specified directories?
To have a Month view with Dates as link to download files.
Great plugin for my requirement.
My site is running on IIS, windows server, and WordPress 4.4.25 with FileAway Ver 3.9.6.1.
I know these are old but cannot update, as it will crash the site and lots of fixings to be done.
I am using the following shortcode:
[fileaway_pdf_archives base=1 report=”engcc-daily-stock-market”], the folder “engcc-daily-stock-market” have subdirectories (2021, 2020, 2019, etc) with PDFs within. I have deleted old subdirectories (directories before 2015, until 2005), but they still show up in the dropdown list.
How can I remove the deleted folders from the dropdown list?
My pdf documents work on a Windows Chrome browser, but when I click on a link in iPhone I get the error “Sorry – That file could not be found”. This is the code I am using, any idea why the mobile device iPhone gives this error?
[fileaway type=”table” base=”5″ sub = “2022”? searchlabel=”Find Location” filenamelabel=”Salat Calendar 2022″ fadein=”opacity” fadetime=”500″ flightbox=”pdfs” boxtheme=”silver-bullet” theme=”silver-bullet” width=”95″ textalign=”left” hcolor=”brown” iconcolor=”purple” bannerize=”10″ color=”green” paginate = “true” size = “no” heading = “Salat Calendars 2022” pagesize = “10”]

Hello,
WP (WordPress) was updated to version 5.8.1 and FA (FileAway Version 3.9.9.0.1) stopped working in part. It does the display of the list of files from a folder, however, when clicking on the links of the files they send error messages in the browser console.
In the browser, in developer mode, the following messages appear in the console when clicking on the links of the files:
Uncaught ReferenceError: flightbox is not defined
at HTMLAnchorElement.onclick ((index):256)
onclick @ (index):256
What can I do?
Thanks for your valuable help.
]]>Uploading the files works perfectly, but when you try to download them the preview does not work and clicking the down arrow symbol brings up a php version window.

]]>This is such a helpful plugin. Any chance you will revisit and update?
Seems like you’ve disappeared a bit.
So wondering how long your plugin will continue to work as new WordPress versions keep stacking up.
Hope you are well.
Thanks again for this plugin…
]]>Is it possible to suppress the “MANAGE” column when displaying a list of files with [fileaway]?
CSS example :
.role-editor .ssfa-sortmanager {
display: none!important;

It only worked for me in folders with files
]]>I need to let a non-admin WP user manage and upload employees phone-number list in a form of web/html pages obtained/generated by MS Excel. It contains .htm, .css and .xml files. Both admin and an ordinary user can successfully display and manage the files using the shortcode:
[fileaway type=”table” sub=”Phonelist” directories=”on” manager=”on” prettify=”off” include=”.htm,.css,.xml”]
(I have setup the Manager Mode enabled for all possible user roles.)
As the WP administrator I can upload all of the files using simply:
[fileup sub=”Phonelist”]
But a non-admin user (editor, author, contributor) is not permitted to upload files with the .htm extension! I have tried:
[fileup sub=”Phonelist” showto=”administrator,editor,author,contributor,subscriber” filetypes=”htm,html,css,xml” action=”permit”]
But no success. The .css and .xml files do get uploaded but no way to upload any .htm file.
When I add a pdf file in a folder, it appears correctly. But when I add a subdirectory in the same folder, sometimes, my pdf file disappear ! Why ?!
Please, help me to solve this weird problem..
Thank you.
