This plug-in just saved me from disaster. I needed to upload an .msi file to my WordPress site just before leaving on a trip, and at the last minute I discovered that WordPress didn’t allow that file type to be uploaded. Even after using FTP to upload the file manually, it still wasn’t showing up when I tried to insert a link to it on a page. After installing this plugin, and dragging and dropping the .msi file into the custom file type area of the plugin’s settings page, WordPress then allowed me to upload the file and insert a link to it in the usual way. Problem solved!

It took me a few minutes to work out that if I uploaded a file into the box at the bottom of the instruction panel that it would automatically verify the mime type and add the upload capabilities to my site without needing to know anything else. It was extremely easy after that and I am so incredibly appreciative for the work this developer has done. THANK YOU.

This plugin works out of the box. Instructions for adding more file types are clear and support is phenomenal. The UI is top-notch as well. Job well done!

I think the idea is good if it worked. I can’t use it to upload .ai files, or .cdr even by creating custom filetypes.

Works as intended. Great support. Thanks.

This plugin worked perfectly for me and was easy to use. I only used it for an epub (and you do have to select the correct file extensions in settings before it will work) but I’m very happy with the result. The epub downloads fine.

I am getting errors :-/ that file is not allowed, and i listed all mime types even checked uploaded one vs the one inserted into list…

It works but I mean why is this just not built into the main plugin. Makes no sense. There’s a breaking point where keeping wordpress lightweight becomes more of a nuisance than it’s worth.

I got it to allow ePub uploads easy. I just had to get the mine type right, which I bet can sometimes be a bit tricky and texhnical. But the plugin dies it’s best to make that as simple as possible.
Thanks!

The File Upload Types by WPForms may be a free plugin, but it requires the Pro version, selling at the preposterous price of 199$ a year (wow, a 50% discount on an even more ridiculous price of 399$ a year)

Only needed to allow a .docm file.
Added with correct MIME type application/vnd.ms-word.document.macroEnabled.12 – grabbed from file properties and checked MS documentation.
Extension as .docm, which is obviously right.
Does not work as advertised, clearly 1-star since 0 not available.

I am unable to upload png, psd files as products to my website. Even they said png and psd etc are default files for uploading.
