Hi,
I was wondering if there are any plans to update this plugin to work with the “new” Flattr. One question I had, for instance, is whether I should use my user name or my user ID in the plugin’s setup.
Many thanks in advance!

Hello and thank you for creating this plugin,
When rendering an excerpt, we end up with duplicate text. Your plugin adds its button in the_content
which is also run when fetching an excerpt.
Excerpts, however are then run through strip_all_tags()
, so all your markup is stripped and only the raw test is left. Voilá, duplicate text.
Do you have an idea how to bypass this, or can you release a fix?

Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.
Fatal error: Cannot use “self” when no class scope is active in wp-content/plugins/flattr/flattr.php on line 1021
Plugin activation is working with PHP 5.6.
Tested with PHP 7.0.0.
When I used the pre-submit wizard, I was told to use the BROWSER type, otherwise it wouldn’t work. However, I see no option. When creating an app, I chose platform as Web. After creating it, I am given a client ID and a client secret, neither of which are accepted in the plug-in. What am I supposed to do now?
Error message is same as described here: https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/errors-after-updating-post
Presumably this old bug has just never been fixed. Guess it’s time to disable the plugin and find another solution.
Hello,
I accidentally under some posts the “Disable the Flattr button on this post?” activated. Now I have to chop away at the contributions and saved the post. But the hacking does not go away. He stays and Flattr does not appear under the article.
I have tested it with a test post. Post published with Flattr button, then “Disable the Flattr button on this post?” activated, saved mail, Flattr button is gone. Then I have the heels removed, stored post and the hoes is back.
What am I doing wrong? Or is it a bug?
Best regards,
Karsten
Dear Michael and Vox,
Would it be possible to:
1) …change the text on the “Language” and “Category” drop-down menus so that they show what language/category is actually selected?
I’m always at loss trying to remember if Swedish or English is my default language. Showing “English (Default)” (or “Swedish (Default)” etc.) and “Text (Default)” (“Audio (Default)”etc.) would be a great help.
2) …show the most recent selections at the top of the list?
(At least for the language list, which is pretty long.)
I find myself choosing either English or Swedish most of the time (so far the only languages I’ve written in), and I’m not likely to post anything in Albanian, Finnish or Hindi any time soon, so it would be a lot easier to select the right language if the most used ones are at the top (most recent 5 or 8 or any other number – or some clever algorithm, I don’t mind, as long as they’re easy to reach).
Would that be possible to do? (Both proper naming and most recent languages.)
I have Flattr plugin 1.2.0 installed on WP 3.8.1.
I want Flattr buttons all posts and pages of my blog to flattr the same unique blog’s page. Unless I get it wrong, I can’t get the “Custom URL to be flattred” in posts or pages to work. The Flattr button always flattr the current pages, regardless of the custom URL setting.
Also, it would be nice to have a “Default custom URL to be flattred” in the plugin settings, making all posts and pages to flattr the same page bu default.
Thanks a lot for this wonderful tool!
As I recall, the flattr plugin is supposed to submit items to the flattr catalog so they’re listed there prior to being flattred for the first time.
I have used the pre-submit wizard, but at the final step, it looks like there’s missing data. The image and name don’t appear, and retrying doesn’t change anything. The generated HTML has an empty src for the image, and the h3 (which I guess is where the name is supposed to be) is empty: screenshot. There are no errors in the server logs.
Thanks for any help with this.
I’m trying to combine a javascript gallery, which dynamically loads posts and creates corresponding DOM elements, with the dynamic flattr button from this plugin. As far as I understand, the plugin creates a static placeholder for the flattr button which is then replaced by the dynamic version on page load. So obviously this won’t work for placeholders which aren’t present yet initially because of dynamic content loading.
Is there a way to make the dynamic flattr button work with dynamically loaded content by modifying code on my server or would this require a modification of the external flattr script?
The plug-in breaks the NextGEN Gallerys in a post.
If I disable the Flattr plug-in everything starts working as usual.
Me being a photographer it is a shame the plug-in does not work with common photography sites… There is a large number of photography sites using the NextGEN Gallery plug-in…
Has anybody else had this problem?
I installed the plugin today. In my loop-single-post.php I have added this line:
<?php the_flattr_permalink() ?>
In the webpage, I see nothing. In the sources I get:

At the bottom of the page I get the JavaScript code that loads the API code
from https://api.flattr.com/js/0.6/load.js?mode=auto’
Any tipps on what could be wrong?
Thx,
Markus
Hi,
when using the javascript version of the button it appears far too big. It takes nearly the whole width of the article. Its size is about 520px x 300px. Am I doing something wrong?
Right now I am using the static version. But I’d like to upgrade to the javascript version since it shows the flattrs received so far.
Best regards,
David
How can I make a horizontal count widget? When I go to the plugin settings page, it shows one on the top right, but I can’t figure out how to create that.

Fatal error: Cannot access self:: when no class scope is active in /home/offline/domains/marcoraaphorst.nl/public_html/wp-content/plugins/flattr/flattr.php on line 973
hi,
i just found out that the url sent by the pagewide flattr button to flattr is the wrong one. it is the wordpress address instead of the site address. i. e. not the address of the blog i want to publish but the address of the folder i installed wp. obviously i don’t want to publish this one. is there a way to fix this & to return the site address to flattr?
everything works fine with the urls of single posts, it is only the pagewide button sending the wrong url.

OK,this is a weird one.I will have to get you a screen cap but until then I will describe it.
The plugin makes the title of the post appear at top of page above header in 16px high about 40 times.
I have disabled it for now.Has anyone come across anything this odd and how to fix it?
Thank you.
Hi, any chance to see the plugin support wp 3.5?
This was already reported. Despite the JS being at the end of a page the dynamic Flattr button is not showing up. Static buttons work fine.

Note: And of course the button should also stay in the widget area.
Any help appreciated!!

The site says to use the shortcode “[flattr uid=’MyID’ /]” but that does not work for me. When I do that, all I get is the button, but with an exclamation and the message “error”. I am trying to put in in the sidebar using the widgets text option.
This is my test site that I’m trying to figure it out on: https://myworthlesscrap.com/WordPress/
In the theme Carrington blog, Flattr plugin can cause posts to disappear in the post index.
??
As I’m running the flattr plugin the excerpts on my content page are duplicated. I get the summary for each post twice. If I deactivate the plugin I still get the error. The only way fix it is to either rename the flattr plugin folder or delete it.
The only reason I figured it was the flattr plugin was because I first bulk deactivated all plugins and when that didn’t work I renamed my plugin folder. Since that worked I renamed each individual plugin folder and it was when I got the flattr folder that the problem disappeared.
It might be nice to not add a third-party resource to every page for sites which are privacy-sensitive. This leaks private information to the third party unnecessarily. Instead, the js can be downloaded and cached by the plugin, then served from wordpress itself. Is there any appetite for adding a feature like this to the plugin?

Hi,
i configured the plugin normally – i.e. no big changes to the default settings – but the Flattr button does not appear on my page
cf https://blog.martin-riesner.de/?p=782
it’s there in the code though:

what i found out is, that the & in the link should not be converted but remain as &.
is that something that’s wrong on your end, or do i have too look for another error-source?

Hey,
Google and Yahoo suggest[1] that all images on a site should have a width and a height attribute to speed up the rendering process. Please add those to the (static) flatter button.

Hi,
after I installed the latest version of the plugin whenever I try to update a post I get this error message: “Fatal error: Cannot access self:: when no class scope is active in […]/htdocs/staatsbuergerkunde/wp-content/plugins/flattr/flattr.php on line 973”
The post is saved as well but first this error messages is shown and I have to reload the page.
The website is https://www.staatsbuergerkunde-podcast.de
Thanks for your help!
Should there be a popup box or something asking me for my Flattr account? Activating the plugin just displays “Plugin Activated”. A button hasn’t appeared anywhere and I can’t find any way to configure the plugin from within the wordpress dashboard. WordPress version 3.3.1.
Hi,
my flattr plugin stopped working since last update.
my blogs url is: xn--netzgesprche-ocb.de
for example this post has X clicks on flattr itself:
https://www.xn--netzgesprche-ocb.de/index.php/2012/05/ng037-podception/
Flattr button correctly links to my thing on flattr:
https://flattr.com/thing/0940d6cd62113f61435405200ab7ade8/NG037-Podception
On flattr itself, there are 4 Clicks on the item – in the wordpress installation it shows 0.
I dont know, where i can start solving the problem.
Thanks,
Witzman
