]]>Hello My client’s site has gotten too big and I am trying to clean it out. I am using an older version of folders, but need to keep that for now until I get the site down to a size that I can back it up properly. For some reason, sometime in the past a bunch of unresized images were uploaded which made the site very big and image heavy. So I have spent a bunch of time deleting some images. I have brought it down by 300 photos but just noticed that the library only shows those photos deleted when the language selector is set to English. But when I set the language selector to other two languages, the library seems to have all the images I just deleted again and the total files goes up to the original before I deleted any files. I am wondering if switching to pro or upgrading will fix this. Or if I can just delete the folders plugin as my client did not really use the feature and put different photos in different folders, only a few are categorized and the rest are all in the main directory. I don’t want to spend any more time deleting photos if they are not actually getting deleted.

When I use the “Upload a new file” feature, the file uploads successfully. It updates the thumbnail in the Media library view. However, when clicking the thumbnail it still shows the old one. Also, the post with the thumbnail doesn’t update, either. I’ve tried emptying the browser cache, even used different browsers, nothing changes. If I download the image via FTP, the correct one is downloaded, too. Weird.
I am also NOT using any content delivery such as CloudFlare or WP-Optimize.
Why/where is it holding on to the old image?
Please assist.

]]>The plugin adds a new ver parameter to the URL of the image if it had been replaced in order to force browsers to get the new image, rather than using a cached version. That’s great, however, the parameter is inserted in the wp_prepare_attachment_for_js hook and that seems to fire only when an image is inserted in the block editor (and not even then if using the default Image block in Gutenberg for some reason). This means that if an image is replaced, all existing references to it still don’t have the ver parameter (or have an old timestamp) and so users’ browsers may not show the updated image.
I tested this by adding an image to a page using the default WordPress image block as well as a third party image block (Greenshift), and then replacing the image. The ver parameter was not added to either. Then I reinserted that image in the block editor and the ver parameter was added to the URL only for Greenshift’s image block.
I think the ver parameter should be added/updated for all references to an image when it is replaced. I understand this may be tricky because the URL is hardcoded in the post/page content and only updated when the image is reinserted into the editor, but there are ways to update it and I think it’s important. I believe the whole point of the media replace feature is so that one doesn’t need to go and reinsert the image in the editor, everywhere it is used, when wanting to update it.
I resumed working on a website I had shelved for a few weeks, and keep getting an error (which is showing in the backend). I have been searching for an answer for some time, however, I have been unable to determine the answer. Mind you, most of the responses referred to coding and started going over my head!

I met this issue this year over few months, when I upload bulk images to product gallery, the image order always be reversed, for instance, the image order should be 1-2-3-4-5, but after folders’ upload, the order was 5-4-3-2-1 at the product gallery. if I deactive folders or use other media plugin, this won’t happen, the images order should be same as the original order rule.
could you fix it?

But my images are almost exclusively saved in webp format.
When I want to replace a jpg image with another jpg image, I get this error message.

]]>I am developing my site which I do not wish to share at the moment. The problem is that Folders Plugin is creating new Categories. So, I have Divi Theme and I’ve got my Categories shown on my posts. When I add any post to any of the folders creates in Posts, a new category carrying the name of that folder appears next to the Post Category.
For example, say I have a standard post category News and I have a new post which I decided to put inside a new folder called “Evening News”. Once I do this, my post will have two categories: one is “News “and the other carries the name of the new folder “Evening News”. This seems to only happen to folders inside Posts.
This is very annoying and need to be resolved. Could you please investigate? Thank you

We have a major visual bug with using both folders and UIPress plugins since time. We waited some release to see if it was a temporary issue but seems not.
When UIPress used in backoffice, Folders UI is overlapping content section and make it unusable and prevent us to buy the agency pro plans if not resolved.

I have 6 digit number of images in following folders after aggregating multiple wordpress websites into one.
All other folders are nearly empty, when I checked via FTP, but loading from your plugin, I can see there are some (not that many) images are assigned to earlier months in 2023, like Oct, Sep….
Due to file IO issue, the webpage is loaded slowly, so I’d like to split the image as much as I can. Is it possible to re-position images to ‘correct’ month by your plugin?
For example, for images that shows up in 2023/10 in your plugin, they are actually in uploads/2023/11 folder. This is not going to change much, but after assigning them to all earlier months, the image folders will be at least slightly lighter than now.

]]>Plugin seems to work well, but after install there is an additional click button in the media library named “Bulk Organize” – which obviously has the same effect as the one located nearby which says “Mehrfachauswahl” (sorry, the site is in German language …).
Also, no German translations show up, although there are .po/.mo files in the wp-content/languages/plugins directory. I didn’t have a closer look at that file, so maybe it is outdated? If you need any help at that point …
]]>After updating the Folders plugin from version 2.9.2 to 2.9.6 we’ve found that editing any image elements in the Thrive Architect page builder causes nearly all pages on the website to break. It appears that after the update, editing pages with the page builder causes the site to believe that most pages are set as the “blog” archive page. Rolling the Folders plugin back to the previous version doesn’t fix the issue, neither does re-saving the permalinks, or editing the reading settings to save them with the blog page selected as the blog archive page.
We’ve removed all plugins except for the Thrive plugins and are using the most up to date version of WordPress and the the most recent version of the Thrive Theme Builder theme for testing.
I can provide an admin user to the staging environment where you can follow the steps below to recreate the issue and I have a screen recording showing the issue happen as well that I can share.
To recreate the issue:
I have create a user role that is fairly restrictive. I used User Role Editor to create the user. When the user gets to the CPT they have access to, the folder pro is on. I see dynamic, can add a New Folder, drag items to that folder. What I can’t do is get into any folder that I have created. It bounces me to the Category Editor of the posts. When I am super_admin, I am able to access these created folders. What permissions am I missing on my User Role to see into the created folders?

I’m from Thrive Themes and we have numerous users that are facing an issue with Thrive Theme Builder theme where the active theme(not the WP theme, a theme that we use internally for custom designs) appears to be deactivated(and the style of the site looks broken).
Internally we store the active theme in the term meta, where the term_id is the id of the theme(we use it internally in the WP theme), is_active meta_key with the value 1 tell us what theme is active at some point. We haven’t change our logic in the last months.
All of the users that are having this issue also have the Folders plugin. After further investigating this issue, I’ve noticed that you changed our term meta where we store the active theme. Please see the attached links from before the issue, and after the issue(where our term meta was changed into folder_info).
Could you please tell me why the term meta is change like this?

Since the last Folders version update (v2.9.6) all my folders are gone. Pages, Posts, Products, Blocks… every folder I have made. All posts, pages, products, etc are now in the generic Unassigned folder. No other folders exist anymore. The Folders column is blank. This affects both my live website and my development/staging website. Everything was working perfectly prior to this. Please tell me there is a fix for this! Thanks.
Edit to add: Just noticed, somehow the Media Folders still appear and are working normally. All others however are gone. Thx.
