I have been using Forum Restrict with WordPress 4.2.2, BuddyPress & bbPress.
Since the introduction of BuddyPress 2.3.0, uploading profile pictures has become built-in, rather than having to rely on the plugin BuddyPress XProfile Image Field.
I have found uploading no longer works, resulting in an error message: “An error has occurred. Please try later”.
I have now traced this to an apparent incompatibility with Forum Restrict. Deactivating Forum Restrict gets the uploading of BP Profile pictures working again.
I hope a fix is forthcoming.
thanks, Tony
]]>Hey,
I’m trying to invite a user to have access to a forum from the administrator side of things and nothing is happening when I click ‘invite’. There aren’t even any js errors being thrown.
From the other side of things, a user is able to request access and the admin is able to accept / reject fine.
However if I have a list of users I want to add, I don’t want to force the users to have to request access, and would rather just give them access from the admin side.
Any help would be apppreciated, thanks.
Tom
Hi Rex,
I’d like to say your plugin is absolutely fantastic!
However, I have one big issue, which is that the mail from address is incorrect and can’t seem to be changed.
I’ve tried editing the php.ini itself to force an override, I also used the mail-from plugin and lastly I tried editing the plugin itself to pass in $headers whereever wp_mail is called.
Unfortunately, none of these approached worked, but I don’t seem to have this problem with mails from the WP site itself or other plugin.
This creates an issue for me in particular, because the domain of the site is an add-on to another master domain, so the email seems to come from a seemingly completely unrelated website.
Any suggestions how to fix this would be very welcome!
many thanks!
I am getting an error when I am in one of the number of private groups I have set up using forum restrict. When I attempt go into the area for administering the restrictions I get the following error:
Check: TypeError: Unable to get property ‘getElemenstByTagName’ of undefined or null reference.
I am using WordPress 4.0, bbpress 2.5.4 and Forum Restrict 1.4
Can you help?
I recently put up a this website and am getting a fatal error that will crop up and then disappear for some period of time. Here is the error:
Fatal error: Cannot call overloaded function for non-object in /home/spek/public_html/wp-includes/class-wp.php on line 529
I have seen it as the administrator and had reports from users. Any Forum Restrict aspects to this error? I am running WordPress 4.0 and have bbPress installed. Akismet and Jetpack are about the only other plugins installed. The link below at the forums didn’t seem to work for me.
Thanks,
Joe
I really hope you can help.
Other roles can access and change the setting to Forum Restrictions, is there anyway to hide this option from them?

I went back and checked and the only version listed is 1.4. After trying several times, I was finally able to activate it, but all of the options for it are blank pages. Could you point me to the 1.5 version? I’d really like to try this.
Also, when trying to post on your blog article regarding this plugin, I hit submit and it goes to 127.0.0.1
Thanks!
]]>Hi,
I was looking for something like this and it looks very promising. Unfortunately i get the following errors after activation:

It’s Windows hosting btw. Think important for you to know.
]]>I’m using WP 3.5 and BBP 2.2, and (not surprisingly) with the permissions changes, this doesn’t work. I cannot get the adjax admin to even fully load, unfortunately. I’d love to see this plugin update because this is EXACTLY the functionality I’m looking for.
]]>Hi, I’m using your wonderfull Plug-in but users are receiving emails of approval from WordPress.
I would like to change that, I’m using a plugin called wp mail from, to change the wordpress thing from general user registration but this seems not to work with the forum restrict.

]]>As soon as I activate this plugin, my wp-admin dashboard goes blank. the site itself stays up, and as soon as i change or delete the file via ftp it all comes back. i tried once, updated my version of filezilla, and tried again, same thing.
this has happened with a number of, but not all other plugins i’ve installed recently, including other ones with a similar function to this one.
help!
]]>I was trying to get it to work on 3.4.1 and although it lets me apply and be granted acces, there’s no way to save the access once granted. The “Forum restrict administration” has no save button, so when you leave the page you still have no access. Also, there’s an un-named tick box on the far left which, as soon as you clich it, deletes the record its next to. And then you need to start again.
The other problem I see is that it identifies a user based on the IP address. Which is OK if you’re on a fixed IP, but if you’r on a virtual IP from your ISP then you get a new one pretty often. As a result your constantly having to apply for permission.
