Thanks for your work on the Foyer plugin. For one of the channels there was a temporary channel scheduled for 18:00 but the slides only started showing up at 20:00. This is a time difference of 2 hours and I suspect this has something to do with UTC time (we are in Dutch timezone which is at the moment UTC+2). Can you please provide any hints on which (server)settings to check? Thanks again!

Dear Foyer users, unfortunately the Foyer plugin was temporarily pulled from the WP repository because of a minor security issue. The plugin remains safe to use as the issue relates to signed in users exploiting their own website only. This issue will be fixed a.s.a.p. and I expect the plugin will be back here soon.

I use a raspberry pi3 system for corporate tv, but the animations made at 28fps are very stuck, very slow, with dragged movements… what is causing this to happen?? since the preview in wordpress is perfect running smothly… and from what i researched the raspberry pi3 run 60fps… I hope you can shed some light to solve this problem, thank you very much!!!

Displays, channels and slides allow passwords to be set.
However, this does not seem to be honored, everything is accesible without password.

Is there a possibility to protect displays (or channels, or slides) from general accessibility?

Hi,

When I have a browser running the slideshow with video slides everything runs fine. The videos used are uploaded via the Media Library of the WordPress website.

When I log in to a seperate browser and login via the backend and add more video slides to the channel and update these. The other browser which is playing the videos starts to hang after 2 seconds and keeps repeating it. When I refresh the browser it plays the new slides.

Is there a way to let the browser that is playing recognize that the channel is updated and plays the new slides automatically? I tried to disable other plugins to see if that resolved it but unfortunately it didn’t.

Any advice is much appreciated!

Regarding the addition of files (photos / videos) is it possible to declare them as attachments and thus automatically link them to the slide?

In case there are a lot of posts (in our case ~15.000) PHP runs out of memory (in our case 1GB) when trying to retrieve all the posts to list in a dropdown.
Even before this hard crash happened, the “add slide” page was loading awfully slow.

The problem is in class-foyer-admin-slide-format-post.php

I did a quick fix by limiting them to 50.

This probably isn’t meant to run on a news site, but there should be a better solution, to choose a post for a slide, like something AJAX based.

Slides showing as white screen on display but not in preview

I have installed CoBlocks and i′m using the GO theme that they says work great with it. I hoped to get a lot of nice blocks in my channel, but it does not seem the css is loaded correctly.

Regular blocks that should be handled by the plugin is also not shown as they should. Any suggeestions?

We are experiencing flashes of white or blanking between slide images. Is there any way to correct this?

I don’t think I’m the first to ask about it. Is it now possible to miss a start and end date in the Foyer Slides plugin so that the respective slide is only displayed up to a certain date? If not, can I possibly solve this with an external plugin? Has someone possibly already created a working workaround?

Hi, this plugin is great but could really use display groups to allow for running a channel on multiple screens without having to go to each one. Thanks!

I have installed the Foyer plugin as well as the Elementor for Developer, however the Elmentor only works correctly for the displays. For slides and channels it does not appear in the frontend. I do see the elmentor content on my created slides, however only the white page appears in the frontend. What is the problem does anyone have an idea?

How can I include a video longer than 5 minutes in my presentation? I tried to include it as a YouTube video, but after 5 minutes the page refreshes. I tried to split the video into 2 pieces and upload them on my server, but after a while the video restart from the beginning.
Is it possible in some way?

Is there any way to export slide content and then import to a new site? I have been able to run the regular wordpress export/import, but that only gets the database framework. I’d like to get the actual slide/video content.

So some time ago, we updated to WP 5.9 and before that to 5.8.x and we started to see timeouts or crashes when using the backend of Foyer. Editing channels always ended up in browser error (website unavailable): Either when sorting the slides (via drag&drop) or adding a new slide to a channel. In addition creating a new slide (Image oder Video) also triggered a timeout/unavailable. Or let’s say: The database is blocked by the request/query and no other connection to the DB is possible via the same IP. Hence I had to circumvent this behaviour by using a VPN. But this is not a very feasible solution ??

I disabled the thumbnail preview in the channel-edit, because it mainly timed out when loading them, but this was not the problem after all. So I checked the plugin-details and Foyer is tested/compatible up to WP 5.7.5. So I downgraded the core to 5.7.5

Well, what can I say: It is not running into a timeout anymore. I can work with Foyer again. But sometimes data is not stored correctly when I edit a channel “fast”, i.e. drag&drop some slides and delete one … and boom .. timeout for like 2-3sec. Then I reload the edit-page and everything is available but the changes were not stored. This seems to be the same source of error, but WP 5.7.5 can recover from it and WP 5.8+ not.

So my uneducated guess is, that there is some thing wrong with the ajax functions (i.e. reorder_slides_over_ajax or remove_slide_over_ajax etc pp)… but I don’t know for sure.

And in WP 5.8 and 5.9 something was changed in the core, that these “unregularities” lead to a timeout/unavailability of the website.

Do you know of this behaviour? Is there something that can be changed or updated?
Can I provide any data or logs that would help?

I’d be happy to hear from someone with a solution ??

So we use WCFP to run a multi vendor marketplace in conjunction with WooCommerce POS, I would like to offer my clients that use the POS service DMB’s however the plugin would need to be compatible with the following features:

Ability to create multiple different slideshows or presentations for each respective business so they can be used in their respective locations. Is this something that can be done with this plugin?

I am hoping this can serve as a digital menu board for their locations (different business’s selling different products).
Additionally we are not running multisite. As I previously mentioned we are multi-vendor single site with WooCommerce & WooCommerce POS and are currently separating out each client’s business as separate outlets we would like the ability to create each outlet a digital menu board have it pull products from their WooCommerce and display them in a similar fashion to what you would see at McDonalds, Dunkin Donuts etc. While also mixing in advertisements.

For the first round of the Slide, everything is ok. After that, only the first Slide is visible, the other slides are just a white screen. It’s on my minix with TV like that. on my smartphone or in the preview on the computer it’s allways fine.
Is there someone who know’s that problem an have a solution?

In a few days I need to leave a youtube transmission on the TV system we have… When I configure (even selecting the option on SLIDE to leave the video until the end) it is cut by the time of the CHANNEL configuration (which varies from 2 to 120 seconds) does not have the option to leave “unlimited time”… how to proceed?

So I work for a university and I want to overlay a responsive sticky/fixed header with our university’s color and logo across all the slide templates. I am having difficulty implementing a branded sticky/fixed header globally. Any help would be appreciated.

I am using the foyer plugin to create a simple signage system. There are three monitors and they all have to show the same ?slideshow“. The plugin is really perfect for me but there is one point I think I need to change.

When I get it right there is a standard refresh time set to 5 minutes. When my ?slideshow“ is longer then this 5 minutes (e.g. 10 slides by 60 seconds each) then I see only the first 5 slides, it reloads and I see the first 5 again. So is there any possibility to change the refresh time?

I’m using Foyer as part of a university project, using a Pi and Open Source software to build an eco friendly Digital Signage solution.

I’ve seen some having issues getting videos working on the Pi, and user @bangel had some success. Since no one gave a full answer, I thought I’d share my findings.

I’m using a 4B 4GB model, with Pi OS, WP 5.8.1 and Foyer 1.7.5.

For me, I upped my GPU RAM to 512mb, and chrome://flags changed
GPU Rasterization – Enabled
Override software rendering list – Enabled

Hardware Video Decoding remains unavailable for me, some people on the net have it working and think it might be key.

This allows some 10mb files (buck bunny clips) to play and for YouTube to load, BUT it needs the user to click somewhere on the browser, otherwise it will just show the first frame of the video, stay for the default slide duration and move to the next.

Firefox plays *some* vids without intervention, YouTube has no sound.

Edit: adding the following to your chromium command fixes the click-to-play issue
–autoplay-policy=no-user-gesture-required
