The plugin is severely out of date, yet the company claims to be integrated with WordPress.

Same problem as a previous user, I have a persistent error showing in the DevTools console that hasn’t been resolved using the latest version of the plugin (2.3.0).
Uncaught TypeError: Cannot set property ‘externalId’ of undefined
Same issue on a clean WP install so it doesn’t look like like a conflict with another plugin.

It took me some time to set it up, due to copy/paste quotation marks issues.
Make sure you lose single quotation at the beginning of the code (self-explanatory) and change English paired quotation marks to neutral quotation marks (U+0022). Hope it helps.

Works first time, not sure why the other reviewers are saying it doesn’t.

Can you please briefly explain how to set up this plugin in WordPress. I followed the steps as you mentioned but it’s not working.

This version of the plugin doesn’t really work and only makes the configuration more troublesome than it should…
After a couple of tries setting it up following the provided instructions, I gave up and went back to basics by using the “Insert Headers and Footers” plugin to add the code snippets available in my Freshchat account’s settings/integration page.
Notes on improvement:
In my view, this plugin is kind of useless as it stands. It should be simple as having a field to insert your Token. All the other content should be added automatically by the plugin itself.

For standard users, this plugin might seem working well: you install it, activate, paste snippet code, and you see your chat on your freschat dashboard. However, I found some problems that can’t just be ignored:
– There is “fcSettings” variable in javascript that is not set if you don’t follow exactly the instructions in this plugin’s installation tab, instead of those in Integration Settings page. The thing is, if you don’t do this, javascript and php display errors in debug log. If you don’t do like this, your installation will work but your users’ email is not recognized on Freshchat dasboard.
– RestoreID and ExternalID are not saved properly. This also generates debug log notices (or errors), besides I haven’t tested it yet but I guess your users won’t get recognized as the same through different browsers.
Please you should fix these things or this plugin makes no sense at all.
