Wordfence for the past several weeks has been giving me a warning: ‘The Plugin “FSM Custom Featured Image Caption” appears to be abandoned (updated October 28, 2022, tested to WP 6.1.7).’
Please advise. Should I be worried?
]]>It has taken me a while to work out the dependencies for this issue.
We’ve been using your FSM Custom Featured Image Caption plugin for a long while to add the caption to feature images on post pages.
The link uses in “Link to the page you need help with” is currently the 2nd of the 3 most recent posts.
We have recently moved from a classic theme to a FSE theme in this case Ollie.
The Single Post template has at the bottom a Query Loop Group that shows the “Three Most Recent Posts”.
If you happen to be viewing one of those Three Most Recent Posts, then where the feature image is generated by Query Loop box in “Three Most Recent Posts” at the bottom of the post it also shows the caption. This has caused an issue where we had a long issue. Short-term I’ve shorted the caption and added a “mock” caption at the top of the post!
Is there a way to stop the feature image caption from appearing in the Query Loop generated display at the bottom of the post?
As mentioned above, It only add the caption to the Query loop if you happen to be viewing one of the 3 most recent posts, otherwise your plugin works well.
]]>Hi. It would be incredibly helpful if you could add an option to include ?-required text and links in captions which use the information about the creator of images, and licenses such as Creative Commons, already in the WP Media Library. This would help users satisfy the conditions of some licenses (eg acknowledging author and linking to license info), such as CC. Thanks!
]]>Hi! Your Featured Image Caption looks great on the desktop version my website’s posts.
But it doesn’t work properly on the mobile version:
Is this a problem with the plugin? With the website’s theme (called Spiel)? I appreciate your insight and suggestions.
]]>When we activate this plug-in, then create new post, then upload the feature image, it all looks fine, click Publish, the Feature Image disappeared. Have to repeat the feature image selection again.
If we turn off the plug-in, things works as normal.
Any insight?
Hello,
I tried all settings but the captions are appearing nowhere, how can I fix this?
Best,
Flo
I added a caption, but it doesn’t appear when I add a featured image block to a template in the new FSE editor.
]]>On websites running the best-selling Avada theme there’s an option to add multiple featured images for a post, that are then displayed as a simple slideshow that steps through each featured image one at a time.
The Avada theme has no native option to display captions below featured images (in Avada featured image captions are only visible when you click an image to view it in a “lightbox”), and the Avada support team says will not prioritise adding this functionality.
Therefore we have installed FSM Custom Featured Image Caption. But the problem is that only the first featured image displays the FSM caption, while any subsequent featured images go without, as the slideshow progresses.
We have contacted the Avada support team about this problem too but they (understandably) say that they can’t be expected to support all possible plugins out there, and expressed no interest in adapting their theme to the FSM Custom Featured Image Caption plugin.
But seeing as you did add in Divi functionality in the end, here’s hoping that maybe you’ll also consider making your plugin play nice with another one of the best selling themes out there, so that your captions are in fact displayed for all featured images on Avada websites.
Thank you.
]]>Working for a news organisation, we’re exploring using the Image and Media Byline Credits plugin to address the (rather tragic) lack of native WordPress support for photo bylines (as such bylines are required by law).
The bylines generated by that plugin are indeed picked up at the end of the captions generated by WordPress and the theme we are using, but they are not included at the end of the captions generated by the FSM Custom Featured Image Caption plugin, however.
Is there any way to currently make these two plugins play nice together?
If not, please consider looking into adding that functionality at your earliest convenience. (And if you would prefer stripping the bylines of all HTML before adding them at the end of your captions, then please also consider an option to not strip the HTML.)
Thank you.
]]>I’m curious about being able to use this on images in a gallery. I assume it would still be fine, but I just wanted to double check before proceeding. The goal is to be able to have galleries on different pages use some of the same images from the media library and then be able to independently change their captions without impacting one another. Would that work?
]]>Hi there,
is it possbile to replace the standard textarea for the new caption with an editor box. We don’t want HTML to be insterted directly, rather have the option to add links using WYSIWYG.
Thanks
]]>Hello, I just installed this plugin and activated it. It displays the captions as intended other than the fact that the captions themselves are URLs. The URLs of the post itself. So, the featured image of the post has a caption linking to the same post you’re viewing. Can I force the caption to display as plain text, rather than a URL to anything? Thank you in advance!!
]]>Including a href
in a caption, whether using custom Featured Image Caption or default caption in Media Library, causes the line to break before and after the enclosed text. The line with the link is active across the full width of the featured image. This is with HTML code rendering allowed. With rendering disabled, the anchor details are displayed in the caption. View Source reveals no breaks or other hints in the figcaption
.
Version 1.24 on WP 6.1.1 running Twenty Twenty-Three theme. Tested with Edge on Windows and Safari on iOS.
]]>WP 6.1 includes the class wp-element-caption
for captions, which is accessible through theme.json
.
Please set this as the / a default class on the figcaption
element.
Thank you.
]]>I’m trying to make the font size of the caption on the webpage smaller.
I changed the custom style field in the plugin to:
font-size:13px;
The font size seemed to change on desktop but I think the font is still the same size on mobile (too large of caption text). Any ideas on how to fix this? I have not tried the page on tablet.
]]>Hi, I put my HTML in the caption textfield of a media item in the library, but HTML is not rendered. What am I doing wrong?
If I delete the media text and I put it directly in the “featured image caption” textarea of the single post, the caption is not rendered at all.
]]>hi, i have the problem that Featured Image Caption is not displaying on the start page. here i have use the postgrid from my theme astra-spectra for gutenberg.
Otherwise the plugin works as you can see on this page https://b-c.design/layout/aktuelles/
Many thanks for your help!

Hello,
When I tried to save my custom post type the caption is lost unfortunately.
Does the plugin supports custom post types?
I do see a metabox in my custom post editor and WPBakery also but it seems I can’t save them?
Greetings,
Is this plugin abandoned by fesomia?
]]>Hello!
This plugin isn’t displaying anything for my blog post featured images.
Is it because they are background images in the header of a post?
ex: https://missioncheznous.com/le-nionwentsio-des-hurons-wendats/
Thx!
Sarah
Please make ist possible, to show the caption only in frontside-lists, not in the backside-lists like medialist.
]]>Hello,
I’d rather see that we have a choice with this rule:
If no caption is indicated, the plugin will display the generic caption defined in the Media Library.
Could we have a toggle to disable this behavior?
I only want captions where I put them. Now I have to go through hundreds of posts to set Hide captions on those posts where I don’t need/want captions to show because they are in the Media Library by accident or for another reason. That’s a lot of work.
Greetings,
Eric
Hello,
This plugin is working with posts but can it handle custom post types too?
Greetings,
Hi,
the plugin seems to work on the frontend. When I change a featured image, howevver, and try to save it, I get a white screen with the warnings below. The new image IS INDEED SAVED and all looks right on the frontend – but the warnings should not be there and my customer (sorry can’t make the site public here) will be afraid of this.
Thanks for reviewing this! And I will change my rating.
Thanks
Cally

Hello,
first of all let me say thank you very much for this great plugin. It does exactly what I need.
One question: When I’m using the Post Featured Image Block (https://www.ads-software.com/support/article/post-featured-image-block) the cation is showing up in the post, but unfortunately not in the editor. Is there an easy way to also achieve this?
Best regards
David
We are trying to use this plugin on our Divi site and we’re aware that this compatibility is something in the works. It is not working on our site and we suspect it is due to the fact that we are using the Divi page builder for our posts. Is there some additional code that can add to possibly make this work?
]]>Hi, We are using kadence theme which does not support captions for image on site but after adding FSM plugin it shows featured image caption on only few categrory aricles not all categories articles but if we are adding shortcode on article caption is working fine also on article where it was not working.

]]>Hello, I am using an Imagely child theme of Genesis. No caption is displayed on featured images.
]]>Hi,
Awesome plugin!
Just wondering if you had any css or php. I could use to move the caption literally just below my banner image (left) and above the category?
Thank you in advance.
