I want to use the Jetpack Gallery Widget with the square tiles view to add a few photos in the sidebar of my website. The problem is that the thumbnails of the pictures are not keeping the proportions of my photos. The widget change the width of each photo and then, because my photos are rectangular, I get square thumbnails but compressed horizontally.
The result I want is a square thumbnail with just the center part of my photo. It doesn’t matter if we don’t see the entire photo on the thumbnail, it’s just a preview.
Do you have a solution ?
]]>I was looking for a simple plugin to get the WP built-in images shown at a widget on the sidebar and this one seems to be just for that. I don’t need a sofisticated, heavy plugin to do spectacular slideshows based on special tables and content types…
But I worry about that warning on the header of this plugin’s page at https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/gallery-widget/ where they warn that it might not be mantained or even compatible wit WP’ latest version.
Can somebody tell if there is any problem with using this plugin with WP 4.3 or, alternatively, if there is another simple plugin to do the same thing?
Thanks in advance.

All thanks
Do you think it’s possible to show pictures in a roundabout like this one ?

]]>Hi,
I was hoping someone might be able to help me.
I have the Gallery Widget installed and was wondering if there is a way to configure it to open the images in a new browser window.
Thanks for your help!
Steve.
]]>Hello,
I like the plugin, it’s performing nicely.
But I’d like to only display images attached to posts of a particular custom post type.
For example I have a custom post type called woodturners and I only want their attached images shown, not images from blog posts or pages.
Any idea how I could modify the code to do that?
]]>How to I add sub-galleries? I would like to create a gallery for our festivals and have each year in it’s own gallery. I already have other galleries and don’t want to make a separate gallery for each festival year. I would rather make a main festtival gallery page that will then open to give each year separately. How do I do this?
]]>This is a great plugin and one of the things that would make it wildly better is the ability to pull in a gallery from a sub site on a WP Multisite Network … as it is now, it works as plugin on a sub site but would be cool if i could activate it on primary site yet show the gallery on sub site … cheers – chuck scott
