Let me start by saying that I have no idea what the status of Webmentions is re:GDPR, but they’re a big part of the IndieWeb.

I updated a blog for an artist recently and connected it to the Fediverse via Bridgy, so that posts would be syndicated to e.g. Mastodon, Bluesky, Reddit… (and in the past X/Twitter, etc.). When people like or boost posts, these webmentions (a specific kind of comment) would then be sent back to the blog, Bridgy detecting and sending them.

At first, I got a cryptic error on Bridgy when trying to send webmentions back to the blog and it appeared in the errorlog as: “ERROR: You need to accept the privacy policy to post a comment.“
After disabling the “comment checkbox” it worked.

Likes and Boosts cannot validate any privacy et al checkboxes, as they’re generated on outside platforms, with their own ToS, etc.
But they should be allowed back, or at least allowed and monitored in a way or another (antispam sometimes catch them as “spam”).

Hi,

gdpr-framework/assets/cookieconsent.min.js injects a   character just after the .cc-header span. There is no way to remove it and it causes layout issues when applying styles to the cc popup.

Please fix! ??

Hi.

Cookie Acceptance Popup header and Cookie Acceptance Popup Content will not be translated anymore. It always shows English text. Buttons and Links are shown translated. Cookie Acceptance Popup header is not findable in WPML String Translation.

Cookie Acceptance Popup Content shows up in WPML and is translated.

Where should I look at now?

Hello,

When users download their data, the file shows the database prefix of the WordPress install. This should be treated as a security risk. Why isn’t the data gathered from the default WordPress Export feature where the sensitive database data (e.g. database prefix) is not visible? Please fix this to where either the file generates via the default WordPress Export feature or make your feature not output the database prefix. There is literally no need for the prefix to be exported.

I created a new WooCommerce My Account endpoint named privacy-tools and created a new tab called Privacy Tools. When adding the shortcode for privacy tools in the new tab section, it does not show. In the new endpoint tab:
echo do_shortcode ( '[gdpr_privacy_tools]' );

The new endpoint url I created works and the new tab named Privacy Tools is visible in the My Account section but the shortcode [gdpr_privacy_tools] does not display anything. Any help would be appreciated.

I have this problem: a visitor not registered on the site, uses the contact form and gives the consent to the privact. If he goes to privacy tools and enters his email, the answer he gets is that “there are no registered users with this email. Hi I am using GDPR framework by Data 443 and my malware scanner keeps flagging these lines of code as dangerous and probable malware. Can anyone give insight into this?

3) assert(class_exists(‘ParagonIE_Sodium_Compat’), ‘Possible filesystem/autoloader bug?’);
And

These are three separate ” flags” on the malware scanner. I use Cleantalk for antispam and malware scanning, and these lines of code are routinely triggered as dangerous with a “99.5%” likelihood of being malware. So, I’m wondering what’s up with that?

What should we do?!

I just activated the plugin and noticed two banners. One is more than enough. The other banner could just be a sentence in the first banner with a Learn More text link.

It is nice to see that the GDPR link is added to the Tools submenu! (Thank you!)
It would be nice to change the title of the plugin fra Data443 GDPR to just Data GDPR.

Going to Tools -> Data443 GDPR I see 3 banners and below a bunch of tabs. Here it would be helpful to just remove the banners that contain a lot of text and focus straight on the General screen where the banner information might be better to have been added. Banners take too much focus. Seeing it I just want to right away remove the plugin. Banners is a big no no, as these feel intrusive. Just too much information I need to relate to.

Please cleanup the banners, get the focus into the first General tab and softly guide the users from there.

After update to gdpr-framework 1.0.47 apache2 returns error 5 due to composer requiring php 7.4 in platform_check.php
Most debian 10 / centos 7 systems and many others do not have a supported version of php 7.4 available.
Please correct or many will start looking for alternatives.

We have updated the Data Subjects request by email feature to now only send an email to users who you do have data stored for. Otherwise, a message will display on screen that no user/data found and no email will be sent.

The Privacy Tools page where someone can request information for an email addresses can be used maliciously and data can be spammed – emails that don’t exist or aren’t registered on a site.

For example, a spammer could enter a large number of emails into this form and it would send many emails to people who did not request their data or emails that don’t exist.

The latest update now displays a message on the screen saying that a user will receive a message only if their data is being processed on the website. Otherwise, it will let them know that no data for the supplied email is being processed and no email is sent.

We have run into fatal errors due to version conflict of composer packages that GDPR framework uses, that we also use in our theme. In our case illuminate/support (for blade templating)

Other plugins avoid this by using php-scoper to prefix (eg. Yoast and Google Site Kit).

Is this something you would consider doing to improve compatibility with other plugins and themes?

Please allow partial URL’s in the custom url fields.

Currently a full url is required. Example: “https://domain.com/pages/privacy-tools-page”

I would like to use partial urls so that I do not have to update the custom url fields when: migrating, changing domains, etc… Example: “/pages/privacy-tools-page”
