I encourage you to change your mind. Classic will not be going away soon.
I’m not encouraging my clients to use the new block editor. They can use what they like to use, either.
In the future, can you please let me know if you decide to make plugin updates on this plugin?

Hey Nick,
I’ve removed some bloated plugins from my site https://christchurchphotographer.co.nz/info-and-contact/ and opted to use your wonderful plugin instead for adding text and columns.
I’ve added the copy to https://christchurchphotographer.co.nz/info-and-contact/ and as you can see it needs some spacing between the columns- and less on the left side contains the image of me!
On mobile its a single column- I like that. But the issue of spacing left and right continues and the text is right up to the edge of the device.
How do I fix these issues? Ive added some CSS as suggested in other posts here- but it does not seem to work. I am a complete novice.
Ive got an identical site using the original “WP Bakery” plugin and the layout there is indicative of my goals. https://paulpetch.co.nz/contact-photographer-paul-petch/ – Also on a mobile.
Also, when you you click on “documentation” from the plugin dashboard it links to your site but is a 404. Just thought i’d let you know.

Hi! After last WordPress update to 5.7 plugin Genesis Columns Advanced incorrectly displays one-fourth columns with two strings. Large indents appeared between two lines in a column. Also, there are problems with mobile layout.
Example before update WordPress 5.7:

]]>Hi Nick, looks like an excellent plugin! I’m a Genesis user. I haven’t installed it yet but will be doing so in a few minutes but I don’t seem to be able to grasp the concept. I watched your video but it’s also 3 years old, so not sure if the new version has much more options.
In your demo the two sample texts you use are pretty much the same size. However, my client has LONG articles, and I wonder how I would use your plugin, where I would enter the shortcode, and how many times. I just want a simple two (2) columns layout. But it has to not look too uneven at the bottom, on the last row.
She has a title with description, so that would be full width, but then the text starts and would require two columns to be set up. Then it would stop to make way for the next titles and description.
I gather the plugin does not measure and adjust the columns automatically? But would you have a tip so we don’t have to do this entirely manually with trial and error?

]]>I’m using the Visual Editor widget Black Studio TinyMCE Widget.
If automatically add paragraphs is checked each column is a line below the previous one. Unchecking the box and manually adding the paragraph tags manually seems to fix the issue.
Not sure if it is column related or the visual editor widget related. Can you shed some light on this?

]]>I’ve recently started to have this problem when there’s any other content at all below the columns in the WP content box (images, more text, etc). I can’t click any links or select any text. I’m seeing the problem in Chrome, Safari and Firefox on my Mac �C there doesn’t seem to be a problem on iPhone.
The only time the copy behaves normally is when it’s the only thing in the content box. Is there anything I can do to fix it?
I can achieve the same look with another columns plugin but it’d take me quite a lot of work to replace the code in ever single post, so I’d love to just find a way to make this one work.

I’m working with your plugin for the first time (I’m also new with code) and having an issue with the 2-column.
Despite closing the second column with the [one-half], my next line of normal, full-width text still shows up in the column. I can’t get it to move down into full-width. No problems with this on the 3-column, just the two.
You can see my issue on https://quartermoonliving.com/work-with-me/. ‘Ready to start your garden?” and work with me box, which should be after the column text, and as full-width. This is happening on both 2-column sections, there is another group further down the page.

Since I am using your plugin, I have a couple of questions regarding this topic:
– Is Genesis Columns Advanced setting cookies with personal information from visitors (like IP-address)?
– Is Genesis Columns Advanced collecting, storing and/or sending personal information from visitors (IP-address, etc.) locally and/or externally?
In case that you are storing/sending and/or processing visitors’ information:
– Are the IP addresses only stored anonymously, i.e. without the last octet?
– What are you doing with the stored information?
– Do you share the data with 3rd parties? If yes, have you concluded appropriate contracts with the subcontractors that commit the subcontractors equally to data protection?
– When will the user data stored by you (in particular cookies) be deleted?
– Do you offer opt-out options for users (if yes, how are they implemented)?
– Can you provide us with a Data Processing Agreement including technical and organisational protection measures as well as an overview of the subcontractual relationships for signature?
In case you operate in the US and you are storing/sending and/or processing visitors’ information:
– Do you offer legally recognised guarantees for the level of data protection (e.g., EU Standard Contractual Clauses or Privacy Shield)?

I made a 2 column layout (parent column). Inside the right column, I wanted to add in another 2 columns (child columns) stacked 4 times.
However, the columns inside the right parent column, the child columns expand outside the width of the right column. It’s frustrating.

]]>Hi, I can’t figure out how to add a background color across all the columns. Here’s what I’ve tried:

I’ve also tried adding the style=background color to the actual columns, which works, but then one side is always longer than the other. how can I get a block of color behind the whole thing??

The plugin is just great! It does exactly what I need it to do. I just need to make one tweak. It’s pretty basic. All I need to do is center the whole column group on the page. Right now, it looks like it’s aligned left. Also, can I move the columns closer together?

I’m trying to translate the .POT file to Portuguese to no avail, could you please tell us what is needed?
Here’s what I tried:
– translation in genesis-columns-advanced.pt.po (with the correct msgid/msgstr)
– msgfmt to create genesis-columns-advanced.pt.mo
– mv genesis-columns-advanced.pt.* pt.*
Nothing worked, I had everything in the admin panel in Portuguese (including TinyMCE) except your plugin. Help! ??

Two questions:
1. Is it possible to modify the size of the margin between columns? If so, how?
2. Is it possible to make the text of a particular column align to the RIGHT instead of the left? I’ve tried using the text editor’s built-in “align right” button, but I haven’t gotten it to work 100% (one time I got ONE paragraph in a column to align right, but the rest was aligned left. I forget what I did differently that time)
I’m sure these things are possible, I just don’t know how and didn’t find any information about how to do this. Thanks in advance.

I am brand new to WordPress. I’m using the theme “Starte” Version 1.0.8
from munirkamal. I have a problem viewing my website on mobile devices. I want the columns to stay lined up next to each other even on a mobile device. What happens, though, is that the left column is stacked on top of the right one. I understand that a mobile screen isn’t as wide, so maybe there’s no good solution. Ideally users of my website would be able to turn their screen horizontally to view both website columns next to each other.
The post “second test post” has the columns in question. The post “first test post” contains a picture of what it looks like on my mobile device (safari on on iphone 5c).
I saw this topic “https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/keep-columns-on-mobile/” but wasn’t sure if this is the same issue as I’m having.

EXTRA INFO: The purpose of my website is putting a text and a translation of that text side-by-side. I’ve added the widget “sides matter” so that I can add explanations of translations in the right side bar. I don’t think the widget is affecting the columns, because the columns behave the same with and without the widget activated. I have no other plugins activated.
