After a new release of WordPress 5.6 with a new version of jquery migrate, the plugin no longer works. Pictures are created, but after clicking on them, the gif does not start. The creator is no longer interested in this plugin. Any chance of getting an updated plugin?$$$
Now you can make it work only with a crutch in the form of an additional plugin that installs the old version of jquery
Hello,
Love this plugin, but it’s been 3 years when it received an update.
Are there any coming soon? Or do we need to look for another plugin.
I want to ask. GIF Animation Preview plugin, does it work on WP version 5.1, for you?
I have this plugin does not work on WP-5.1. I just started to learn CMS WP, and I can do something wrong.
Does not work with jQuery 3.1.1:
Uncaught TypeError: a.indexOf is not a function
at r.fn.init.r.fn.load (jquery.min.js?ver=3.1.1:4)
at d.loadGif (gapplayer.min.js:1)
at d.activate (gapplayer.min.js:1)
at HTMLImageElement.<anonymous> (gapplayer.min.js:1)
at Function.each (jquery.min.js?ver=3.1.1:2)
at r.fn.init.each (jquery.min.js?ver=3.1.1:2)
at r.fn.init.c.fn.gapPlayer (gapplayer.min.js:1)
at g.<anonymous> (gapplayer.min.js:1)
at g.d.emitEvent (imagesloaded.min.js:1)
at g.d.emit (imagesloaded.min.js:1)
Halo i have an idea, for make the GIF Player only run on some tags/category.
Please make it happen
Thanks ??
For me it only works on index pages and not on singe-post pages. How can I fix that?
Also my images are center aligned be default but this plugin makes them float left.
Any suggestions?
Hi, I got a problem on my inifiniscroll page with your plugin.
You made awesome plugin and even made reinit function gapStart(); but…
my infiniscroll based on admin-ajax.php requests and that requests always return is_admin() === true, so your plugin not initialize.
Look at plugin.php:57
if ( is_admin() ) {
require_once( dirname( __FILE__ ) . '/settings.class.php' );
GAP_Settings_Page::load(); // <-- With admin-ajax.php we are always here
} else {
require_once( dirname( __FILE__ ) . '/gap.class.php' );
GIF_Animation_Preview::load();
}
I added additional condition.
if ( is_admin() ) {
replaced with
if ( is_admin() &!(defined( 'DOING_AJAX' ) && DOING_AJAX)) {
hope it’ll help someone
The plugin is having problems having the “lazy load” plugin installed too…
Hi,
I have trouble with this showing correctly at the homepage with my post featured gif images. Sometimes it loads correctly, other times does not load at all. I’d say it’s about 50/50%. This happens across different browsers, os, and such… I guess it’s something about a script not loading correctly or such.
So, anyway, I’d be happy to just not have this plugin work at homepage. At the homepage, show the jpg wordpress displays. Once in the post, featured image would show as gif with the preview correctly. Currently it works perfect in post page, I’d just get rid of it working at the homepage.
So, is there a way to deactivate the plugin at the homepage? Could it be a future option? Thanks!

With debug bar I get this error :

Thanks for your support and great plugin !

I just noticed that this stopped working on new posts on our site. However, if I pull up an old post that has animated GIFs it still works.
I did notice that a “-gap.jpg” image was not being created for animated GIFs in those new posts that where not working properly. So I manually created it to see if that would fix it. That seemed to help with it actually working and placing in a static image. But the functionality still didn’t work properly. Instead of hovering over the static image and having a smooth transition, I had to click on the static image and then it swapped to the animated GIF and then just kept looping.
Why would this be happening only on newer posts?
Hey there
for some reason the plugin adds height: 0px to the wrapper
<div class=”gapplayer-wrapper” style=”width: 375px; height: 0px;”>…

that happens only on safari desktop (tested on osx el capitan)

I tried adding the full size gif using visual composer single image and then through the text block method. The plugin works on the text block method but isn’t responsive as you can see in this screen capture https://www.dropbox.com/s/cytblibgpio8j35/Test%20page%203.png?dl=0
How can I make the gif that has Gif Animation Preview style applied and have it be responsive?
Hi,
Is there a way that I can set a specific class which the plugin will not work on that class?
Thank you

Hi SubZtep,
First, your plugin is great for me, thanks for developing.
My site use grid layout, some gif still play, although not mouse over.
Can you fix it for me, here is my site: https://alo11.com
( it’s a porn site, hope you dont’t mind)
Thanks you,

WordPress loads comments a bit later the post content. Is there a way to stop comment gifs as well?
Is there anyway to get rid of the GIF logo? I have a video layout and having 44 GIF logos on the home page makes it feel cluttered, but i still want the GIF to load on hoover.
When I use this plugin and created a post with multiple image types (including GIFs) the GIFs all appear at the top of the page as the first image.
So if I have a post with:
jpg1
jp2
gif1
jpg3
“GIF1” will appear on top of the page covering “JPG1.”
I’ve had to disable the plugin in order to post pages with multiple image types because I want the GIF to remain in the spot I place it on the page. However I would like to get this fixed.
I tried to use it my blog but the GIF still plays on the homepage.
What is the best way to call the featured image that will trigger this plugin?
like wp_get_attachment_image_src, post_thumbnail etc.
Thanks!
I am using JetPack Infinite scroll plugin and my theme is Plane – https://theme.wordpress.com/themes/plane/
Gif animation preview plugin is not working on GIFs that gets loaded by the infinite scroll plugin.

Thank you
Hi
Lovely plugin. But can we change the text to other text? Or maybe add a play icon or something.
thanks

Hey,
Im using avada theme. I upload my gifs via “featured image” however when I do that with this plugin then the gif itself is lost and is not displayed on the post page. It does display in single post page but without preview. I’ve tried all the settings. At the moment it is set to “always preview” and only thing unchecked is “start animation on mouse hover”
However the gifs preview control works fine when the gif is loaded to “post body” area. But then in the grid layout the gifs are out of their content boxes.
But never the less, your plugin looks really good and simple.
I hope there is some kind of fix for my problem
webisite: gif category: https://www.ajuvaba.ee/gif
I placed a few GIFs centered on their own line, and one smaller GIF right-aligned, but it seems like the plugin blows away all alignment and left-aligns everything. Any chance we could maintain alignment without having to use nogap?
Hello,
I briefly tested the plugin, then disabled it. Was not exactly what I was looking for.
However not one gif are playing anymore on single posts. How do I revert that?
Thanks,

Hi, i’m really sorry to ask you that… but what do you call the “callback area on admin”. I use an infinite scroll and i would like to add gapStart(); on it… but i don’t know where it is.
Also, i’m sorry for my English. Hope you will understand what i want to say.
Regards.
I have a design which blows up the image to fit well in the slider, I like this look and want to keep it… everywhere else the plugin is working beautifully (after some CSS tweaks). How can I suppress the plugin from working on specific images?
