The gift recipient email address was correct but the sending email address was not the correct one in the WordPress Easy Digital Downloads email for sending from the website. The wording in the success was not correct either on the purchase confirmation receipt out of the checkout.
]]>Hi,
I was quite astonished that this is the only plugin for EDD doing this kind of job, which seemed pretty obvious to have for me, so great idea making it! ??
I tried to use it, but with no effect. The first problem I’ve encountered was that the additional form with receipients name, email and message did not appear after checking the checkbox asking if I want to send it as a gift. I’ve browsed through files and modified the functions file a little bit, removing the condition for checking if the form should display or not. Hurray! Te form appeared, but unfortunately it did not change the outcome of the purchase workflow. I still got the product myself, and no messages were sent to the receipient I’ve provided. That’s as far as I can go myself, unfortunately.
Any Idea what might be the problem? I’ve noticed the message on plugin’s page saying it hasn’t been updated in 3 years, but still I though it might be ok since my EDD version is quite old as well, but my wordpress is 5.0.3.
Thanks for any help,
Tom
Good day
I hope someone is able to help!
We have uploaded a plugin to a client’s website: https://www.everliftingwords.com
With one of your plugins: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/gift-a-product/
I have tried looking for related articles to rectify the error that we are getting, but have found none
If a buyer selects the ‘Purchase as a gift’ button the sale/item goes through.
But, we are getting errors when a client wants to send the gift to themselves – by not selecting the button and not completing the’required’ fields.
Is there a way i can remove the ‘required’ fields and how can i go about doing this?
I can send you login details to view as the site is now back on maintenance mode due to this one problem
Many thanks
Cherise

]]>Hey Maeve,
I’m attempting to implement your Gift A Product plugin, but for some reason, the checkbox is not appearing on the checkout page.
From the installation instructions, it seems pretty easy to set up, and I’ve followed those steps to no avail. Inspecting the page, I can see the CSS file link and the Javascript associated with the plugin is in use, however, the actual checkbox itself does not appear, which is odd. Also, there are no errors, which makes me think this is either a CSS conflict or perhaps there’s some compatibility issues with the newest version of WP.
Can you please advise? My website is https://www.artispot.com/designstudio/
I’d love to use this feature on my website, but it’s just not showing up. Let me know if you have any advice. Thanks!
]]>Is it possible to set “Purchase as Gift” as opt-in? Currently it’s checked by default in the cart.
]]>Maeve,
Hope all is well. Great plug-in. Thank you.
I am hoping to change the default email sender so that when a clients purchases a product as a gift for someone else the receivers email service doesn’t potentially flag it as spam.
After reviewing the original email contents, it appears to be sending from a spoofed address. I’d like to replace that with an actual address from my domain.
Please let me know your thoughts and how we could approach that.
]]>Hi,
I can’t find a way to change the receiver’s email subject line “xxxx sent you a gift!”.
I’ve searched every file in the plugin directory, and also Mysql tables…
Could anybody help?
Thanks
]]>The plugin doesn’t seem to be working for me. I think it’s because the click handlers appear to be added on $(document).ready, but my checkout forms (1 for CC, 1 for Paypal) load async after the ready event fires… so the checkbox never registers the click events.
Steps to reproduce (staging site w/ only test payments):
1. Go to https://staging.mastinlabs.com/store/ and click “Add to Cart” then “Checkout” on any of the items
2. See that the “Purchase as gift” checkbox is not functional
Hi Maeve,
Great idea for this little extension! I’ve installed and it’s not working for me though. I tested out the gift functionality (including making payment) but just doing the usual EDD functionality… it’s not sending the email to the gift recipient at all, or a confirmation to the gift purchaser to say a gift has been bought (not sure if that’s meant to happen?). It also still sends all the links to the purchaser ready to download.
Is there a dashboard menu item for making changes to your plugin? That’d be really helpful. I can’t write code, but I can sort of understand what’s happening when I look through it. I can go through and find the wording in the editor code, but for absolute novices they’d probably struggle to even get that far, so maybe that’d be something great to develop in future editions of this plugin.
Happy to show you with examples of what we tried, would love your help if you can provide it..?
Thanks,
Eric
